I figured out another method to get GPU performance boost with ACC in VR. Granted, you lose pretty much all the in-car detail/immersion sitting in the car but it certainly is an improvement on everything else. I noticed when you switch to "bonnet" view vs cockpit, the GPU will free up about 20-25% performance headroom. I will drive in bonnet view but adjust the seating position back as if you were inside the car. You will need to use the configuration file to move the "x" seat position back to the 100-120 range, in-menu option will stop at 60 which is not far enough. Again, you will lose all in-car detail but there is extra performance freed up on your system. I feel Kunos will eventually solve this problem but for now this works for me.

@@MrLetsfifa12 So you do have a Quest 2 like me. First of all. To make the most of supersampling, I changed the values of FOV in the OCulusdebugtool. I have a bat file that sets the values that you execute after you boot up windows. (because oculus resets the values every time). This gives you a vision like a helmet (90% horizontal view, 60% vertical view) Now the graphics card only has to push 54% of the pixels to the headset. This gives you massive headroom for settings and oversampling. If you want I can send you my graphic settings file for ACC. And also the BAT file. now it is much sharper (but not as sharp as you might want, because ACC is flawed). But is is totally playable now. Let me know what your settings are in the oculus link software. I run it at 72hz, 80hz is also possible, but you have to use less upsampling then.

It is really sharp and runs at stable 90fps in the g2! PS: your fps drops are caused by your cpu. I had the 10700k before and the same performance drops. No issue anymore with the 7800x3d. Cheers, thank for your video!

I just tried this with my RX6900XT GPU with Ryzen 5600x CPU and it works well at 90hz with my Index, AMD GPU's have two temperature readings "Junction" or hot spot and "Edge" the die, this is the only VR title that constantly pins the Junction temps at max being 110 degrees C, it just shows how pathetic it's VR optimization really is. Too bad too, looks like a decent title, Kunos should have stuck with the same game engine as AC and just improve it. AC has to be the best performing Sim in VR. No its worse around corners because it's having to load and render a whole new background far in the distance. Worse in the starting area because of the pits, stands, crowds, etc. It's worse on the first lap because he has more cars around him that all need to be rendered, shadows clculated, etc. It's no better online. Silly question but is what you see in VR close to what we all see in this video? I tried ACC via a OQ2 last week and it was a vaseline smeared mess. I have loved the game for a year but it was enough for me to send my OQ2 back to the big A whilst still in return period. Can it really loo like this on an 30 series card ?? I hope you dont say "dont be silly, what you see is waht the TV/Monitor displays, its different to what you see in VR).

  • @SimRacingCorner

Without tweaking, out the box ACC is how you describe, it's pretty messy. And yes, a powerful gaming PC is needed to eek more out of ACC in VR. Indeed, a recording capture like this not the same as through the lenses, but it is representative, it's decent. I've described in the video the visual experience with these tweaks so hopefully that helps.

Hi - this video looks great and I'm having issues with VR in ACC with a 3080ti/12700K combo. As the video is about a year old, can anyone confirm if this is still worth a try? Or has the developer patched/fixed some or all of this. Overall the game doesn't look terrible but I feel it should be able to be pushed a lot further. I'm only trying for 80FPS at the moment, but a solid 90 with some high settings would be nice. I assumed my hardware would be more than adequate nowadays.

Ive been struggling with fps for awhile with all race sims really and found that it was due to my GPU also rendering my monitor @ 5120x1440 native resolutiton it was killing performance. changing it to the lowest possible 720p or so helpepd massively. From what I've seen online these sim racing games are very single core dependant. So the stutter you get will get I dare say will be from a CPU bottleneck, the newer AMD CPU's blow Intel out of the water in terms of CPU performance. I noted a difference going from a 3700X to 5900X. Also I can't stress this enough, go down to the very bottom of the graphics settings where the colour options are, TURN OFF ACES! It makes all the colours look muted and soft, make it normal, turn up the Sharpness slider all the way to 300%, and turn up the contrast and saturation. It makes shadows, effects and sunlight pop so much more.
