Here’s a fun fact about knights, before the Horus heresy most legions did not want knights as they much preferred the titan legions. However, after many titans were destroyed or corrupted during the heresy the value of a knight went way up as even though they are rare there are still way more than titans

I would take any Mech TBH. Give me District 9 level exoskeleton, Tau Crisis suit, and of course Knights. Just give me power armor even. How fast are they compared to a Warhound? In lore Warhounds can literally ambush and use cover which i find hilarious. Like you don't see that 40 meter tall mech right behind that corner? "Oh it is just rubble and definitely not two guns with a face? That isn't a leg sticking out? Gotcha... Do you hear that? The rubble sounds like it is snickering because we are walking past it... Oh it is just the wind and not a machine giggling. However in media they are always depicted at walking speed. Titans just due to their size should have huge strides and be walking 40kph at least. Warhoumds full sprint should be pushing 120kph or something. Knights though I don't know? They move like 1950 robots too in the very few videos I've seen.

@@wangchung2157 What speeds do they actually move? It has been a while since I played the game but it is always hard to tell due to perception and scale of the camera. Anyway yeah I always likened them to World of Tanks. That is the closest to anything I've played recently that would be similar. Love how knowledge is more important than twitch and the ballistics and weak points are. Wish more games were like that - especially a good space game that is similar to World of Ships but 3d and more strategic or tactical when it comes to placing shots or using armor. Don't even have to try to be realistic or follow real life specs - just make the ballistics and armor hard/weak points fun!

@@hunterxkiller8732 That becomes a matter of perspective and opinion, however while one could argue that the Battlemechs and Mechwarriors of BattleTech are the main draw to the setting, one would be hard pressed to say the same about Knights of even Titans and 40K. BattleTech has gone to quite the length to explain why something as impractical as Battlemechs are at the forefront of military technology and organisation. In contrast with how massive and diverse 40K's setting is, Knights seem like just another weapon in the armoury for the various eternal wars.

(The original comment I was replying to has since vanished, but the history lesson still stands.) FASA launched BattleTech, first known as BattleDroids, back in 1984, from the sources I can find Games workshop launched Epic in 1988 after Rouge Trader's 1987 release. There would have been a lot of sharing and influencing of ideas back then and I can't say for certain when their respective lores developed to a point they began to mimic each other, either way it's fine both co-exist without the need for legal action between the two.

Horus fall to the Heresy was far worse than him being biologically bald. Its been confirmed in numerous novels that Horus was shaving his head on purpose. Only shortly before the fall he had grow short hair and stubble, in desperate attempt to stay loyal, only to immedialty embrace his inner baldness, and fall to chaos and declare Gihad on Emperor.

@@GrievousKhan Oh they definitely did it first. Battletech came out before 40k was even a *thing* by at least 2 or 3 years. If I'm getting my dates right, Knights weren't really a thing in 40k until around the time that the Mechwarrior games started coming out.

@Shadow Warrior 101 Let me guess, the Mechwarrior games? I can see where you'd get the impression that Mechs are just mobile artillery platforms if the Mechwarrior titles were your only experience with the IP. There's actually a lot more to it than that in the lore, but the 3d games rarely if ever even touch on it. The Battletech top down strategy game that was published by Paradox a couple years back does a much better job of portraying it properly compared to any of the Mechwarrior titles (even the good ones from the 90s), but even then it leaves out a lot, like the fact that infantry soldiers in power armor are a thing, just as an example.

Imperial Knights are to Humanity, as the Hero's Mantle (what they call Battlesuits) is to the Tau Empire and Farsight Enclaves. except that the Imperial Knights come in six different chassis, and unlike the Tau empire, they do melee. *lots* and *lots* of melee.

I personally don’t really have a personal preference to a Knight house, maybe Griffith because they kill dragons or Taranis because that name is fun to say, but you’d only find me getting one Knight.

I can't say that they don't, but I really kinda wish that one of the Knight Houses had been on Caliban, where the other "space knights" were found, and the Dark Angels called home. Maybe a Legion Homeworld doesn't also need to be a Knight World, and I don't know if/ how they would've survived after the planet died, but an impressive force of Dark Angels, escorted by a similar paint scheme Imperial Knight would be truly awesome! Otherwise, a neat addition to the game, and a decent option for those willing to pay more than most, bit still nor the criminal costs of an actual FW Titan.

Ah yes, Spacemarine Transmitted Chaos.

The chaos Knight Rampager/Desecrator was the first model I ever bought for WH40K. The last game I played it (Only 500 points, since there was a handful of us - 2 ork players, a necrons player, a Cadians player, and me), I stacked a shitwhack of melee and speed buffs on the sucker and watched it turn tanks inside out with extreme prejudice. Somehow, I managed to stack up -7 AP on the reaper chain sword. Fuck that thing was terrifying in melee. Oh, yeah, and g'day from New Zealand!

I still remember playing Warhammer 40,000 Freeblade on my phone 5 years before I knew what Warhammer actually was

The problem now with the 40k universe is that both Knights and Titans are a dying unit because the technology to build them is lost and every unit that falls in combat or to chaos, is a unit that can't be replace. That's why the loss of the Imperial titan at Armageddon was such a hard blow.

Warhammer freeblade is a pretty slick game. You get to paint and customise your knight and slaughter ork and chaos forces. Pretty much all you want in a warhammer game

One of the things which I like the most is that there are a few skins in the game that are from Chaos, my favorite being Chaos Undivided. Just imagine, a Imperial line is about to be overwhelmed, then, a guardsman takes a glance to the side and sees the massive black and red spiked figure of a Chaos Knight, for a moment he sees his entire life passing through his eyes, then, several Space Marine pods drop on the area and the "enemy" knight starts obliterating the Chaos Marines.

The fact you referred to the great crusade without using the phrase "galaxy waiting for cheeks to be clapped"

This is why i love playing Warhammer 40k: Freeblade
