IMPECCABLE Vignettes in Adobe Camera Raw and Lightroom

Awesome Vignettes in Photoshop: • The "Secret Sauce" for...
Making the perfect vignette is a pretty easy task in Lightroom or Adobe Camera Raw. But the traditional method is not always the best as it can be too easy to see.
The key to a great vignette is making it subtle. It shouldn't look like you used a vignette. In this tutorial, I will show you how to use the radial filter in Lightroom or Adobe Camera Raw to make incredible vignettes.

Excellent video. Would love to see you updated this video using the new masks in LR Classic. The luminance masks in particular acked differently. I am having trouble getting them to acked the way I want.

Great video as always Blake, as a creator myself I understand the amount of work that goes into these and I appreciate you making these tutorials available to everyone. My only suggestion is in regards to audio; have you considered a shock mount for your microphone? It sounds like it's sitting on your desk by the way keyboard strokes conduct into the mic. It gets my subwoofer all excited, haha. Again, thank you for everything!

Thanks I appreciate the feedback. I do have it on my desk. I don't have a great setup for a shock mount. I'm replacing my desk in a few weeks and at that time I'll try the shock mount again.

Thanks Blake, I could not find the ability to change the mask overlay color as you showed in LR 10.1.1 but did find that I could change the overlay color by pressing Shift+O repeatedly and it cycles through red, green, pink and grey

@@f64Academy Thanks, I just googled some info on how to change mask colors in Lightroom and got this "First, make sure that you have a mask created and visible in your image (use the keyboard shortcut O to view the mask). Then, hold the SHIFT key and press the O key to cycle through the colors (red, green, white, and black)." To bad they do not have magenta, but I am sure one of the 4 colors they have will work. I guess the default is red since that is what mine has been.

It's awful isn't it? But its the absolute BEST way to visualize a mask. After working in PS for 20-+ years its the only color I'll use to visualize a mask. It doesn't have to be pretty, it just has to get the job done. Open your mind to it ;)

Great stuff, thanks for sharing! I have a question. I start in ACR then go to PS, if I didn't click "open as object" so I can bring it back to ACR but use the filter ACR to get it back into ACR is the quality the same. Like bits eat... Thank you.

Great video Blake as always. However I have to pick you up on one point. No one uses the term "Vignette" anymore. Its actually quite dated and offensive. The correct term is "Anular no uniform suppression" usually expressed as the acronym A.N.U.S You can now refer to the technique as "adding an anus" to your photo. 😁 Cheers Rich

Haha! Oh boy, I almost believed that... So if you use it in a way that the viewer doesn't know, it's a Subliminal A.N.U.S? That's the worst kind of anus!
