EA needs to be recognized for their single player games, because if you ignore EA sports, EA has been trying new things and releasing single player games with no mtx at all. Whether you like the games or not, the 180 should be recognized. But they do deserve criticism for their optimization in their games at launch. Still, they have done a 180 since a while now, but people still act like EA is the worst company out there. For their sports games sure, but they are almost not even in the top 5 worst publisher's list anymore. Acti- Blizzard is number 1, then Take two, Ubisoft at least in top 3 worst right now.

I think people will continue to write them down as the worst of the worst just because of how they handle their major titles like Battlefield. Meanwhile Ubisoft can get away with copy & pasting, and Activision continues doing things that make EA look like heaven.

@@bruhtholemew Sure, but it's about the overall picture. If we look at all the games EA released in the last 5 years, it isn't bad. It's just that battlefield is their biggest IP. And people say Titanfall as well as an excuse to hate EA, but if people cared about Titanfall as much as they say, then they would have bought it rather than letting it have underwhelming sale numbers. People fail to care when it matters.

I feel EA are doing themselves a disservice here by selling a new single player at £50 / $70 whereas this really should be £30 / $50 at most. It would likely sell better by virtue of people being more willing to take a risk because they are interested in this type of game, just not at a tripe-A price point. A few reviews have said "wait for a sale" and this speaks volumes to me about the current pricing.

I think the price tag of this game was caused by a very high development budget. I've heard they've spent $125 million on this.

I REALLY appreciate how you factor price into your reviews. I watch SkillUp and I do appreciate his “price is subjective” POV also. But as a father of two young children, I really have to consider how I spend my time and money on gaming. 😅

it's actually damn fun (check out skill up's review). Like he said it's a nice palette cleanser from all the games that have me really thinking about all my moves (ok i'm talking about baldur's gate). it's fun, I enjoy the magic shooting, and it feels like doom in a lot of ways.

Modern fps need to adopt action characters like Master Chief or doom, where they only talk when they need too. That or go for a Postal/shadow warrior/Duke Nukem comedic vibe.

Thanks for the solid review. I have already started playing and am having fun with it. I totally agree that the dialogue can be very cringy at moments. It feels like they were going for a Firefly kind of vibe where people are quipping at one another in times of stress and danger (yes I know I am being influenced by one of the actors they chose), but it just does not have the incredibly strong writing you need to really pull that off. However, I am really impressed by this game as a first effort from a new studio. It is easy to forget they are new based on the polish this game has. I have a few comments to add as a PC player using keyboard and mouse: 1. This sounds like one of the rare instances where someone who is comfortable with a controller may actually find keyboard and mouse a bit more workable. I have not had to sacrifice movement to use all the skills/tools at my disposal. I did remap some of the keys and bind some of them to the side buttons on my mouse, but this is not unusual and they made the process as easy as it possibly can be. The game even adjusts tool tips to match the rebinds. 2. While I agree with you that there are a bit too many systems in the game, to me it only fells like a bit too much because it is a fairly linear 15-20 hour game. I don't actually feel like the gear system is a bad thing because it can genuinely focus your playstyle even further in a meaningful way. I just think they were trying too hard and ended up with too much "stuff" for a game that is a one and done. I chalk this up to the fact that this developer is new and this is their first offering. 3. I found a bracer in a chest very early in the game that increased your number of dashes to 2, so I think you may have just missed an early chest. I think the cooldown on the dashes is too long and you can't "double dash" because they don't allow you to chain them, but I did have more than one, so I usually had one when I needed it in a boss fight.

It sounds like a game that could benefit from a sequel. Tons of potential that would be great if it was ... handled differently? It doesn't sound like something that could be fixed with a patch, but a sequel could take that potential and hopefully make it shine. Preferably with a more likeable protagonist, or maybe even custom ones. I love the sound of the fundamental concepts.

If it doesn't sell well it will go on sale in no time, I'd give it a go at that point. It makes me appreciate how good Ghostwire Tokyo is, especially the world building.

As per the current 65% positive reviews on Steam about this game, its something that you either like it or not. Its not like BG3 caliber, but i personally think Immortals is a good game. If you can run it on a decent rig, i think its worth it to buy it. Also people should learn to accept games for what they are and not try to please them in every possible way just so they dont feel sad about their lives. Something to think about.

When you talked about pathing forcing you to fight the same enemy spawns over and over. Oh my god that gives me PTSD of that jungle planet in ME andromeda. Jesus christ that hill in the middle of the jungle map with enemies you had to fight everytime you moved between parts of the map triggered me so much. I never want to see that again.

AAA-itis is a great analogy for the common themes of AAA budget games. I was interested in this game and when I saw the gear and level system, I was like "nope." I got Odin Sphere and Dragon Crown I've yet to play that are RPGs, I don't need anymore for now, especially with the shallow stuff I'm seeing here. Feels really saturated with these cookie-cutter RPG Elements in games these days if you ask me.

Just picked this up for $20 on PS5 and gotta say its pretty fantastic for that price

This seems like a gamepass game mid level game that could have more people playing if it was on gamepass day 1.

Swore I saw this video posted last night lol.

I will admit that I did have to turn the difficulty down to apprentice half way through the game, but I still had a lot of fun.

I have one issue they should have made it so you can save your game or quick save before you go In to a boss fight and get stuck it would be nice to go to a save point before you walk into a bad situation and try again or work on the character more then go back

Just completed this game yesterday, the game is very good with some awesome cinematic visual, yes some things are repeated but overall a must play single player❤

Some reviewers give this game 92 and others give 40 .. this game is going to be one of the most polarization game

If this came out any time but 2023...i think this is a great game and unfortunately it will be overshadowed by Starfield and games that have already came out this year,we are spoiled lately with Elden Ring last year BG3 and Starfield,so this game is good but a ton of gamer's we just have so much to play this year it won't do well and undeservingly i honestly believe.

I agree with you on EA actually, which is weird for me to say. EA has burned me since I was a child with how they handled Spore. But I do like how they treat their indie/AA developers, and recently going in a better direction. I remember A Way Out as a great example. EA let them offer people to buy 1 copy and send their friend a code to play with them for free. Could have made a boat load of money without that, but they allowed it. I still don't trust EA at all but it's a good direction to head in. Maybe they won't win worst company this year, and instead it'll go to Activision Blizzard Still, don't think I can forgive them for the loot crates in Battlefront 2. If they made a Spore sequel with more creative freedom given to the developers that would really be amazing although unlikely. I think a Spore 2 would sell like crazy in 2023

I’m glad you feel the ache from today’s piss poor dialogue writers. I’ve heard the complaints that writers don’t get to do what they want but I honestly think that excuse is getting old and if these developers want attention then they need to be brave and honest about what makes a hero relatable. I’ll avoid this game despite the appeal of world and combat. It’s a shame but hopefully the new age of too many games to choose from will iron out this issue. We fans need to hold on to the studios who do it right like a raft in the ocean and pray they listen to us.

Honestly my guess is that somebody was a big fan of Jace Beleren and Magic The Gathering. It looks like Jace Simulator. Ironically enough, it looks more like MTG than MTG does at this point.

I can't wait to play this in Feb 2024 for $20, or July 2024 on Playstation Plus

I'm agree with most of you saying. Whatsoever there's more to add on it. The biggest of all fails of this game is that theh put 120% effort creating the atmosphere and basicaly the posibility of creating a community cult out from it than really making a videogame. This doesn't have multiplayer neither online mode. This is just basis for a continuation in my opinion. Like if this game comed out from a COD mobile like game in the future then you'll back at this and say ih now it makes sense. But again, they put so much effort making the cult that it feels jammed, the game doesn't have a game sould behind it just the bare purpose of creating a fan base or lore base for that universe. And that sucks. Even if you manage to leave all your personal interest aside to criticize the game rightfully, it still feels like it's only using you for its own good. To say I did not played the game just saw the gameplays, even so I felt bad for the player because there is no fun in being used like that. As if you are not running the game but the game running you towards the end to fullfill that purpose. You still can't compare this to skyrim in anyway. Because out from all the pretty lights and the narrative effort, the ideas wasn't allowing you to get fun anywhere. Videogames now focus on the future of the franchise not in satisfying your own expectations.

I’ve been having a great time with this game so far. I don’t find the main character to be that annoying. He has those moments where he feels the need to not take the situation seriously but it wasn’t enough times for me where it was getting absurd.

The combat reminds me of ghostwire tokyo a lot

Jak grows as a character throughout the story and everyone seems to forget that hes young af, hes barely 21 and in the prologue hes 15 or 16 so his maturity level makes since and the characters around makes him get more mature throughout the story, i never got annoyed by him, i never got the "trying to be cool" vibe from him, he's impulsive and tried to lighten the mood, it annoys me when people expect a young protagonist tp act like a 40 year old, his arc is to leave is comfort zone and grow up and learn from his mistakes

I enjoyed the game it was actually fun gameplay and cool story.
