    People tend to think that people like us want an end to ALL immigration which is rubbish. They also think that they we go crazy at the sight of anything vaguely foreign. Again no only if it is threatening the fundamental values of the country do we take any interest. We are simply worried about the RATES of immigration. It has been up in the hundreds of thousands. Let's maybe remove a couple of those hundreds of thousands. It would still be lot even with cutbacks when you think about it. I'm from Canada and here we've been cutting down immigration from 350,000 a year to 150,000. That is still a lot of people. The UK wouldn't lose people from diverse backgrounds. All this crap in the media about immigration concerns being stocked by racism is just post-modernist intellectual white noise that is made by a bunch of popinjay ticklebrains.

    Out of all the people on this series I think Douglas Murray made the most sense. As an American, I guess I'm naturally more sympathetic to immigrants - my mother was one, and about 20% of this country's (America's) citizens were born in other countries. But the UK is not America. The U.S. has always needed immigration to move forward as a nation, and this is only becoming more evident, despite a small, vocal minority. By 2065, about one in three Americans will have been born abroad. But the UK is a small, island nation that throughout history has been fairly homogeneous. It, like most other European nations, seems to be extremely awful at integrated foreign cultures and ethnicity. Until that problem is fixed I don't see the problem with controls on immigration. But it does need to be fixed.

  • @squamish4244

    @squamish4244

    5 ай бұрын

    The UK had better fix it. It is rapidly changing ethnically. Even since you posted this comment the demographics have shifted significantly. But especially in the past 30 years. The world is globalized, this is the future, we ain't going back. There is no going back. As a Canadian, in a nation built completely from immigrants in fairly recent history just as the USA was, it is easy to see how this works and the inevitability of it all.

Love Marriage 2. Brick Lane and I would aid in enlightening some of you by explaining what she said as simply as possible! Immigration is a good thing but colonization in combination with oppression is not. The better we can learn and understand each other the fear can be eliminated over time as we have done so in many ways today but still is a work in progress! I would focus on where she speaks on our emotions verses logic and understanding the levels of society and how our fear and emotions can act as catalysts into darker areas of that same society.

    Some people have a little mind, we can't say who are welcomed or not in a part of PLANET EARTH. We are ONE humanity. In ONE world. THIS is one of the main problems, people like that, who divide the world. People who think that can deny or not the access to anyone they specify, like foreign students or muslims. Do you realize that the natural future evolution of humanity is the one that is UNITED, who work together and join forces? One which cares for everyone and help each other to increase their potential, which cares for all the children? They are years behind with that mentality. The evolved humans will take care of everyone, because they understand that working together we are STRONGER. BUT, the ones who are corrupt, evil, psychopaths, thieves, or malicious in any way, THOSE are the ones that must be restricted from coming to ANY country, NOT those who can bring and improve our world, or our Great Britain, those must be accepted, then humanity will strive.

Its assocation with immigration didn't really begin in earnest until the 1800s, accelerating in the aftermath of the waves of Ellis Island migrants. A lot of Americans fetishize assimilation (and understandably so, because they think the alternative is Mad Max Beyond Anglodome), but its more myth than reality as a workable concept. Immigration has served us well up till recent years. The idea that multiculturism does`nt work fell by the wayside when the curry became our national dish of choice, or when Bob Marley came to Brittain and set of a huge variety of popular music revolutions. The problem begins with immigrant populations who refuse to even speak our language let alone intigrate and march toward changing our society and laws to those from which they fled or came from. Like Socrates said "i am of Athens, but a citizen of the world", a value we should all take on board....

    ***** ########## .All races and all religions commit rape, but only Islam punishes women for being raped. That's my point. ########### And it is a flawed point for many reasons. It is not an Islamic concept. You'll need to look at the individual cases to see what the details were. Dubai is not an Islamic state - it is , a country with a muslim majority and Islam-flavoured laws. Women get punished for rape in other cultures too, You can find whacky anecdotes everywhere. Women are treated badly in the West too, There are terrible abuses which Muslims would find abhorrent. I'm sure I can do a search and bring up cases where victims are treated with contempt. I can't remember the details now but there are plenty of people who feel that the law protects criminals and not the victim. If you want to play which country is dirtier than another I can get googling. Suffice it to say Dubai is a peaceful place and one where people feel safe. There is a big difference to many countries where crime and immorality is rife. Please let me know if you want details on this. Or simply watch some Jeremy Kyle programs on youtube to hear tales of incest, abuse etc. The problem with Dubai is that it doesn't like the idea of immorality creeping into its country - perhaps you'll only be truly happy when they have topless beaches, flashers , dogging and pedophiles that pay to have Thai babies molested for their gratification. ========== Did you hear about the Lost Prophets singer who got women to agree to sexually abuse their own children for his pleasure? I don't see you making a big deal about that . Boy if he was Muslim, your typing hand would be overheating by now .============ Hypocrite.

    ***** Westernophobic? My you have a poor grasp of logic. If you look carefully, it goes something like this. 1 - Ady is a Foul anti-Islamist who has a very lopsided view of Islam filled with negative preconceptions. 2 - Ady is extremely critical of minor stories in Dubai yet showing very little interest to the horrors that go on in the 'west' 3 - vicachcoup points out this imbalance and hypocrisy by giving examples of vile abuses found in western societies with the aim of getting Ady to see how simplistic, immature and imbalanced his world view is 4 - Ady fails to understand simple logic and arrives at the erroneous unsubstantiated view that vicachcoup is verging on westernophobia 5 - Ady still doesn't get it and returns to harping on about an anecdotal case in Dubai and then posting more examples of information that fits his bias. 6 - vicaccoup realises that Ady is a bit slow on logic and gives a sigh. ================= Ady asks So is it true that in Dubai, if a woman reports to the police that's she has been raped, she will be punished? Yes or no? ============== My dear misguided and simplistic friend. I don't read sensationalist headlines and assume that I am getting the full story. I wonder what the details are of the case. In my line of work, I have come to understand that humans are almost always very poor when it comes to logic and rich when it comes to emotional thinking. Idon't find that professionals are immune from distortion either. If you want to make a discussion out of this, I need to know the full details of each case, including the views of the victim, the views of those that prosecuted her and the views of those that can can explain what the legal position is in Dubai. Failing that, I have very little information with which to answer your question other than some news reports of doubtful accuracy and comprehensiveness that I could find on google[ I might look it up anyway, after this]. What most people don't realise is that real discussions need real discussion and not just soundbite, emotional, knee-jerk mind burps. If I was you, I'd get a bottle of Gaviscon.

    My attention span is not as limited, I think this is just right. Not to slow, not to fast. And finally someone addresses how xenophobic the tone had been.

    She's right on that. It's something the people who have trouble with it ought to consider in it's implications. That dosn't mean it's wrong to think so, it means that the implications of what ones problems are should be considerd.

    The tragic thing is too that I am enteirly inclined people who migrated here (germany) may actually percive things to be that way themselves, stemming from an idea that well If you just act that ans that way.... But that's Not the total of it and we ought to recognice so sooner rather then later.

    Yes, let's keep extracting the human resources of poor countries who can least afford to lose their best and brightest so we can make ourselves richer. Sound familiar?
