Lana has a connected head voice which extended to C#6 while Taylor uses disconnected (and often pitchy) falsetto. As of 2018, Lana has showcased the ability to support and phrase as low as E3 shown in live performances of "Video Games", "God Bless America" etc. While both are technically flawed in belting, Lana uses a headier mix which lessens the strain on her belts. She did some solid Bb4s in "Pretty When You Cry" (live in Aerodrome Festival), B4s in multiple acoustic performances of "Yayo", C5s in "Terrence Loves You" (live at Madrid). Taylor did pull off some better high notes such as D5s in "...Ready For It?" and E5s in "Don't Blame Me", albeit her raised larynx and inability to mix cause the notes to come out forced occasionally. Agility wise, both are no good but I've heard some clean riffs in Lana's "Old Money (acapella)" and "Black Beauty (2018 tour)", although Taylor does also have passable ones in "Doubt". What's odd about Taylor's singing is that despite her experience, she's never developed an usable vibrato. Musicality wise, they both seem to like improvising at concerts but usually turning out not very consistent. What I do agree is that Taylor is a far more energetic performer and she does take risk vocally whilst Lana prefers to play it safe. They both have improved a lot from their early years but as of current Lana is the better singer and Taylor is the greater entertainer.

Did you miss the times when she hit C#6s with a rolling vibrato or when she sustained a 21-second long note in various "Cola" and "Heart Shaped Box" performances? This girl can access contralto low notes and soprano high notes with equal ease, something not even acclaimed singers such as Gaga can do. She may have pretty pressing technical flaws or questionable consistency but the potential in her range and live improvisation is not to be overlooked.

Nobody the "great" category have this problem, and the ones whose do, are in the "good" category, because they have a good technique but they don't use it the way they should

Why do we need to label female voices great/decent based solely on the ability to reach higher notes?! Lower register is hard to master as much as higher ( if not harder)

Hugo it wasn’t supported it was still strained and unbalanced but that B4-C#5 belt was really one of her best won’t lie

I'm not surprised that Ari is graded as good but i'm surprised that Christina Aguilera is labeled as good. I mean she should be graded as great.

Xtina is labeled *good* because of her unhealthy technique. If she did not abuse her voice so much, she could definitely be considered *great*

I love selena and everything but she has what a lot of pol deserve, she is an average singer with average albums and average music, I dont even know how she got all this fame and recognition , there are some underrated vocalists with GOLDEN vocals who deserve the worldwide fame Selena has. Ariana (I think Demi goes in this category too) is like Christina... gifted vocally, but doesn't use great technique. I think that is why she often falls short of the "Great" label or is labeled a "B" instead of "A" singer.

Demi and Ariana deserve to be put in the great singers territory

Lana isnt a bad singer, she actually has a very good technique for her style, its bc she smokes, it’s ruining her voice, and her head voice and falsetto can become very shrill bc of it

Am I the only one excited that Lara Fabian is here? I mean I adore Beyonce, Mariah and Whitney, but Lara for me is one of the best vocalists ever. Her voice is just so pure and beautiful. No hate I also think that about the ladies I mentioned, but her voice for me always stands out.
