It always kills me whenever I see anyone, and I'm not talking about you because it's clear that you were referencing others' opinions, say that so-and-so “can’t sing” or that so-and-so “is a horrible single,” lol. My first thought initially is that the person must be a kid because any adult that not only has an understanding of singing, the performing arts, etc., for people say the same type of things regarding dancing, acting, and so on but, furthermore, has been to their local bar or pub for karaoke night should have a clear understanding of what “not being able to sing” or “sounding horrible singing” is and sounds like, and *none of the people* who often get described this way, realistically, and in all actuality, fit the description of “can’t sing,” “sound horrible singing,” “suck at singing,” or anything remotely similar, whatsoever, lol. People genuinely need to *stop* with the extremist thinking and mentality, not to mention stop saying things with the idea that they don't out themselves for having some unnecessary and meaningless level of bias and that it's not incredibly obvious, at that, lol.

"Can't sing" and "horrible singer" are exaggerations for sure, but people aren't being literal when they say it, we are just used to exaggerating everything, especially when describing stuff. People they're 'dying laughing' aren't really dying, the 'worse song ever' isn't really etc it's just how we talk I guess.

Yeah, Katy surprises me a lot! I used to think she was a bad singer because of how poor her sense of pitch was for a lot of her career, but she's improved since then. I do think she's talented and has a very distinctive tone, but I really don't think pop suits her voice. To me Katy's voice and the reason why she has bad moments is similar to artists like Rihanna and Miley Cyrus who undeniably have innate talent but were pushed by their labels (in my opinion) to be the next Madonnas and Beyonce's when that really isn't them in my opinion. Katy shines during her acoustic performances and when she does mid belts, transitions etc. and doesn't have to worry about trying to sound like everyone else. Similarly, Rihanna had bad vocal moments as well when she sang the overly pop, dance songs or in the beginning of her career when she tried to sound like Beyonce, whereas her voice shines with more lower range, melissmatic, R&B stuff, I feel like Rihanna would best shine vocally if she went in the more Kehlani, Aaliyah, Tinashe direction rather than trying to sound overly quirky or like a pop diva. Miley Cyrus is another interesting example of these types of singers who sang songs that didn't fit their voice, except now she really has found her style and where her voice shines and she's become a really intuitive and respected vocalist in my opinion. Katy and other singers like her have the potential to be solid vocalists if they find a style that fits their voice, and she's going in the right direction.

Disney wanted everyone to sing in the era of 2006-2015 for the reason of wanting their artists to be all rounders. Selena Gomez wasn’t really a singer in that era but she was popular so unlike her peers like Demi and Miley that are clearly vocalist she had to put her voice on records that were challenging for her.

Fergie is vocally talented and skilled but I think generally gets so caught up in the adrenaline rush of performing for a live audience that her foundation becomes lost in the moment and often results in the messy, out of control vocals that she's unfortunately become known for. Similarly, Jessica Simpson has proven herself to be very vocally gifted as well, but her projection and stylistic choices just became increasingly so bizarre and outlandish as time went on that she ultimately reduced her legacy in music to being a laughingstock and grade-A example of what NOT to do when singing. And that's very disappointing for a singer that started off with so much potential that she initially sparked comparisons to some of the all-time vocal greats. In the end, she shortchanged herself and all of the critics and fans that once had extremely high hopes for her.

Ok Fergie singing and doing a one handed cartwheel is iconic. 😆 Christina is a unique case because everything about her is style choices. We know she can blend her voice into whatever sound she wants (impressions -britney/cher, pop, theater, country, etc) but she choses to alter her naturally smooth and warm tone for rasp, distortion, grit, etc. She values passion and raw emotions over sounding 'perfect'. Now this lands her with amazing, memorable performances, but on the flip side it's dangerous cause when they go bad, it's rough.

Fergie has such a great voice/range but she’s so extra with her vocals it’s as if she doesn’t know how to control the power she possesses. And as for Jessica Simpson, she’s actually a great vocalist but they definitely forced her to do that sexy singing voice. If you also listen to clips of her before becoming a pop star you can hear the power she had.

For Madonna, I think her voice is solid, yes, but she had the ability to having emotive singing, eventhough, she may not be a great vocalist, but she is a great artist, she had creativity in her music she had a good effort of her work Jorja Smith, I'm not interested of her talent, but I think she's fine Katy Perry, I think her talent was going to evolve, think she could possibly sing better now Bebe Rexha, Well, tbh her voice is kinda decent, I don't like that her tone, but she still a good artist and underrated, she also had a good effort of her work as well Taylor Swift, same as Bebe, but I found her voice very nice, but sometimes she sounded straining whenever she sings higher, but she's ok, and yes her work was also great, so she's a great artist to me Selena Gomez, I think we know her main issue is her singing, but not sure if considering her voice boring, but eh Jennifer Lopez, tbh, her music career is very complicated, I think her vocals aren't bad or worse, but if she uses her technique, she could possibly developing or improving Fergie, she's kinda good somehow, but most of it she doesn't show alot much of her great vocals Jessica Simpson, she's great, the problem is that her singing wasn't recognizable, she does have potential, but her singing can be bad especially if she's overdoing it Christina Aguilera, surprising that she's here, I think her voice is great, and her main flaws is her consistency of her vocal register, most of her belts are great but a lot of it kinda sounded strained, like she's always overdoing it, but she's still a good vocalist, I consider that Britney Spears, Honestly, it's kinda sad to see this, when she was young, her voice was pretty good, but they forcing her to sing with different tone, but I think she still got her old vocals, and she could possibly trained alot to sounded good

I liked her vocals in the first Black Eyed Peas albums she made, and her solo album. She had a beautifully shaped and dynamic voice. She used to do a lot of soft tones. When the BEPs came back she came with that agressive in your face voice full of screams. Her original style never came back, wait, wasn’t her original style, but it was the tamed vocals she had when I got to know her haha.
