    @@Litalici0us I appreciate your opinion but your distinction between vocalist and singer or vocals and singing is very different from mine. Not wrong just an opinion. For me vocals or vocalist is a catch all term. Singers are vocalist but vocalist are not necessarily singers. For example, death metal vocalist not death metal singer. Another would be a rapping. I don't consider rapping a type of singing but I do consider it a type of vocals.Both are opinions and I hope you can see my point of view as well.

    The fact Beyoncé has been in the game and been singing constantly for 20 yrs with not even a single vocal damage should be enough to show how technique is very very very important. same with Mariah. She defently isn't in her prime but that fact that she is still able to sing perfectly almost 30 yrs in to her career is mind blowing. They def are legends.

    Beyoncé has one of the most consistent voices. There are plenty of valid criticisms of Beyoncé, but limited vocal ability isn’t one of them. She’s both a vocalist and performer. The age when a vocalist could see huge success SIMPLY on vocal ability ended with Whitney, Celine and Mariah. Audiences stopped being satisfied with that. Beyoncé could stand and sing and blow minds, but that’s not the era we are in if you want to be the biggest. The great thing about Mariah is that her voice has several layers and dimensions. So as her voice has changed she’s adapted by highlighting a different facet of her own vocal ability. If her belts are a little weaker, she may take that moment to highlight her falsetto, or her low register, etc.

    @@JoanRudith preach! It's crazy when I think about it that there's not a single person in the music industry that is doing what beyonce is doing. The woman truly shows where dedication,hardwork and work ethic can take you. She perfected her vocals since a young age and was trained classically. Now she's the greatest entertainer alive and also imo the greatest vocalist of our generation. Literally crazy and mind blowing how the biggest celeb of our generation is a woman and more exact a black woman. Bey,rih and Nicki really makes me proud to be black.😭🙌🏾

    To me Christina Aguilera is mind boggling. The fact that she has been singing in your not so conventional way and not sticking to vocal training yet 20 plus years later her voice sounds renewed and amazingly good is true testament of her how robust and insane her instrument is. We are yet to see more from her because there is the undiscovered part of her voice we haven't seen as yet until she decides to take intense vocal training like beyonce.

    Xtina has barely sang in the last decade compared to her 1999-2007 period. Her commercial success had dimmed drastically. She had just started touring again after the last album, in a much smaller scale (as in less dates), not many tv performances if at all ….. she’s had more than enough time to rest her vocals, she hasnt been going non stop for well over a decade.

  • @EliteKaki

    @EliteKaki

    @@fuckurbody Yes but we also have to put into account that she was signing professionally since she was small up until her 2010-2011 where she was still active. We have to remember Bionic and Burlesque came out at that time and she needed to do extra singing and live performances for promotion. She didn’t really rest as she made an album which was lotus and it wasn’t until 2013-2018 when she actually rested somewhat as we also have to take into account “Say something” which is working in the studio non stop. That’s only 5 years of resting somewhat since she did have some performances in between. Then came Liberation(2016-17 recording it) released (2018) and she went on two tours that lasted up until the start of 2020. And, she also continued off recording a new version of Mulan doing live performances for those and then some other ones while working on her Spanish and English albums. AGUILERA came out in 2021 and she has been performing non stop for the past almost two years to say. And she is still recording according to sources a deluxe version of Aguilera alongside her English album. So, she did rest for a little, but not for much. She has been really active in the past 5 years which is surprising coming from her.

Her voice is pure theatre.I love how you highlight natural singers like Jazmine Sullivan, and H.E.R. I remember when H.E.R was a little girl singing like that. I disagree with Jhene Aiko. I believe she belongs in the atypical category. Her style is very her own, her voice is distinct. I love Ciara and her music but she is not a natural born vocalist so hence basic and her music is average. Taylor is basic but only vocally, regardless she has influenced an entire generation with her style, music writing, and melding pop with other styles of music. If you have seen Jhene's Tiny Desk concert, I feel that removes her from basic. Her voice is literally healing and angelic. And on top of that, her music is timeless, iconic, and memorable. All her as an individual and that is what sets her apart. Yes, she is not a ballad artist, but yet her music reaches all audiences, young and old. And she proves you don't have to sing like Alicia Keys or Beyonce to have music reach people.

    @butterflies and waffles and when she sings ave maria I'd love it if she sang the "ave dominus" without growling. When she sings freedom not everything needs to be growled. *Sometimes* during the Crazy in Love riff and the "yoouurr loooveee" after the riff, I wish she didn't growl it. same with songs like I Care, APESHIT, If I Were a Boy, Halo, 1+1, Love On Top, etc. (at some points in the songs where she growls for like 8 lines straight) The only growl I really want to stay is the Me, Myself, and I growl.

    This argument is tired. She had background singers who were mixed into her older songs that they demo’d. Ashanti and Cristina Milian have already confirmed they didn’t ghost sing for her, nor did she steal from them. Ashanti sings background and adlibbed on 2 of Jlos songs, wrote 1 of them and was in the video for it. Cristina Milian did the chorus to Play. And Natasha Ramos sang background on 4 of Jlos songs, including Jenny from the block. Brandi gave Jlo her song “Ryde or Die” and Jlo recorded it, and left Brandi’s adlib vocals. That’s it. This practice has been done by Rihanna, Selena Gomez, Britney Spears, Toni Braxton, even Beyonce.
