7:12-7:25 is incredible to me. Where is she keeping all of that air? I remember watching a video of Kelly Clarkson saying that she saw Celine live and couldn't fathom how someone so thin had such huge lung capacity.

Celine is the best belter in the whole world in my opinion! impeccable power, control, resonance and can consistently sustain belts for 10-20 seconds. It's like she has another set of lungs! However, her technique needs improvement in the E5 and above areas, like at 6:46 she belted it with a high larynx.

That D5 from Imagine is one of her best notes. She rules belts from C5 to A5. Strangely enough, her high belts have actually gotten better in recent years than they have ever been. Just listen to her performances of songs like Fade Away and then compare them to live performances from the 1990s--she hits high notes now with much better technique and they sound much more controlled. Earlier belts in live performances used to get a bit floaty like she wasn't totally in control of them but now same belts sound rock solid and controlled.

+dedede jereme Yes it's live. It doesn't sound lipped nor does she look like she's lipping. I can tell when she is lipping because she over-exaggerates her facial movements. When she's actually singing, her face really doesn't move all that much, except for around her eyes. When she's lipping, she'll wobble her jaw and just generally look like she's straining (I guess to sell the idea that she's actually hitting it?). She looks totally unnatural when she's lipping.

Exactly, this video shows that she doesn't start to mix at Eb5, but at E5. It has MANY great powerful not mixed Eb5s, and even several from E5 to G5.

These letters are key of notes. Numbers means an octave. E.g. G5 means note G in fifth octave. We have eight octave on the piano. C# means note C with # so it's semitone higher than normal C, if notes has "b" it's semitone lower than note without "b", e.g. Bb5 it's semitone lower than B5. About "chest". We have several register in singing. One of them is chest register, we talk using this register. There's also head voice, look at 5:54, Celine transitions from chest voice to head voice.

Whoever said that C6 is mixed and not belted than you are obviously unaware that you can belt in your mix. Most famous technical singers and broadway singers belt in mixed. Lea michelle belts in her mix a lot.

@hey0000you she always mixed...and that's a good thing. a vocalist who sings notes that high in pure chest would end up with a damaged voice due all of that straining - like christina now...in the past, she would just use more of a chest and less of a head voice to produce a little heavier and fuller sound...mix is just all about balancing.
