    The reason why some Shounen manga artists tend to jump from rough sketching to inking is mainly due to the deadline. With 17-20 pages per week, they have to simplify the drawing process to make it on time. Another reason is, manga illustration has to be simple to certain degree to make it manga-esque. So, there's no need to put unnecessary effort with detailed sketch. These are knowledge I get from reading Bakuman. 🤭 And regarding how the artists in this video can just sketch in one-go, we are talking about Shounen Jump artists afterall. Shounen Jump is definitely a place only genius writers and artists can stay.

    Putting it simply that's Murata in first gear - the variation of scope and detail in his work is stunning. Kentaro Miura definitely needs to be checked out too and it's such a shame there's no footage of Katsuhiro Otomo's working on Akira way back (I assume there isn't anyway).

    Looool I laughed so hard when you were talking about not starting one piece because of how long it would take to read it hahaha. Especially since a friend and I started watching one piece from scratch with a friend who hadn't really watched much of it ( I stopped around 600, and our other friend is up to date with the manga ) And we calculated that it would take us 7 years to watch what is currently out. Tho with the confinement we started watching it from our homes while on call. So instead of one huge binge session in a month we watch 4-5 eps on mondays. So It might take us a tiny bit less of time lol. But It'll still take forever, not to mention that It's still ongoing without pauses. Also the artist of Dr.STONE has a youtube channel

  • @arnitheguy

    @arnitheguy

    3 жыл бұрын

    @ cuz it's being released weekly with about 19 pages a week Each page on average takes 3-4 hours at the minimum so 19 pages are about 60 hours so yeah 60 hours per week plus company publishing plus extra stuff like dialogue writing, screen tones and backgrounds and before all of this they have to make multiple drafts until they get approved by the editor they might be forced to make more than 5 drafts Al of this being done in 1 week and eichoro oda(the author and artist) has a wife and kids so yeah more 80-90 of work per week plus he's getting old This crazy amount of work weekly leads to many mangaka(manga artist) getting depression and losing themselves in the work To learn more about this and get a good story you should read bakuman

  • @ichizawaaa

    @ichizawaaa

    @ LMAO what do you mean slow? have you tried writing a story and consistently drawing 20+ pages a week for over 20 years straight? if you compare a weekly manga release schedule to something like Berserk which gets about 3 chapters a year at this point that is crazy consistent. Oda literally has 16 hour workdays saving 4 for sleep

    Why would you only read one chapter a week though??? Most people read it in less than a year

    I was just talking about the re-edition on the Manga Plus app of course 😁 It’s the official app from Viz. they publish a single chapter each week 😅 of course you could read a lot faster

    modauth oh ok I see but you should definitely check out one piece, one of the best of all time but yeah some people stray away from it because of the length of the series. If not you should definitely check out berserk and vagabond, they both undisputedly have the best artwork in all of manga😄you’ll love them, the story is also top tier

    What if, instead of Yusuke Murata, ONE would've been approached by Takeshi Obata , Hirohiro Araki, Hiroya Oku, or Kentaro Miura?
