when you compare that number to animations, it all of a sudden becomes so trivial, i mean obviously not a fair comparison cuz a whole studio is doing the animation, but it's kind of interesting to think about.

what i learned while streaming: dont sketch hard poses on screen.. you take so much time with that and usually put it away for a day or a few hours so you can actually see some mistakes or some things that look odd afterwards - i thinks thats why kishimoto started with the inking and not with the sketch :) also mangaka have no time to waste, they actually know exactly which colours and shades they need, so they already pick their faves and start painting~ ps: es gibt übrigens aufgeteilte sets von twin touch, die sind auch teuer, aber nicht so krass teuer wie copics - es gibt die farbsets je mit weicher und harter spitze. eine freundin von mir und ich schwören auf die marker, sie sind echt gut! :D

Not every mangaka plans their color palettes out. Araki, for instance, just improvises however he sees fit. And Oda has gone wild with his color improvisation ever since Wano started. They get so much practice because of the business model. It's unfair to the artists but thanks to it we get the wonderful world of manga as we know it.

(Copic cost tips at the end). With Copic, you can choose whether or not to let your ink dry before adding shading. I like coloring+shading one area at a time before the ink dries because I tend to get a smoother blend that way. But if I want the contrast to be stark, I tend to wait before laying down my next color. One of the issues is that if you wait to shade a section for too long, you typically have to use a lot more ink to create the desired, smooth shading, and in turn can make your final color gradient way darker than intended. But everyone is different haha. If you watch Jazza, he did an Alcohol Marker contest which resulted in Ohuhu and Copic as the final winners. Ohuhu I haven't tried, but it is waayyyyyyy cheaper than Copics and available on Amazon. But if you are interested in buying Copic, Blick tends to have the best prices I have found so far.

I know this is an old video, but when you use the Japanese comic ink and let it dry, you can easily erase back over the paper and it won't smudge your image. So I think that is why the manga artist all do it that way although there is a slight danger you could miss a part or reveal that you forgot to ink a line. (Which in hindsight is a minor thing) I don't think you can as easily do that after coloring though, so I think most artist will erase the pencils before coloring with the markers. Takeshi Obata is one of my favorite Manga Artist. He can do scary stuff, but really he can do basically any kind of stuff, and he's been doing art for different Manga series for a long while. The first series I read of his was Hikaru no Go which was a "sports" manga.

Can you PLEASE cover Stan Sakai's artwork? He is the creator of Usagi Yojimbo. His art is genius but in such a subtle way. It's the subtle art of not doing too much but at the same time doing so much. Forgive me if I seem like I'm preaching the gospel of Stan Sakai but... I am. And you should too.

Toriyama is using coloured ink applied with a brush, not watercolour paint, that is why the colour is more consistent, you can get as good a result with watercolour (wet on dry method) but mixing colours to a characters colour scheme is difficult to replicate over many hundreds of illustrations.

I really hope for a part 3! Please react to Haruiichi Furudate's mangaka drawing then, it's super good! Here's a link to the video where they draw in real-time, not sped up (so it's quite long): kzread.info/dash/bejne/o6WrxKameL3FZpM.html Edit: included the link to the Haruichi Furudate video.
