Thanks for your comment. The reason we use statements such as “One bad thing…” is to counter the strong cultural influence that a person can go to heaven if they are simply good enough. We meet tons of students in our churches every year who still have not grasp the idea that our sin, no matter how many or how big or small, separate us from God. God is perfect and we are not. We have a sin nature and no matter how good we are, salvation is only through Jesus Christ. Just this past summer, after sharing this exact illustration, a 13-year-old pulled me aside after a service and said, “I just want to make sure I understand. Are you telling me that no matter how good I am, that being good can’t get me in to Heaven?” This led us into a conversation about salvation where he made the decision that he wanted to receive Christ. Please also understand that this is not the only “approach” we use in sharing the Gospel. This is just one segment of a much greater whole. I hope all that makes sense. Thanks again for taking the time to comment.

Although "one bad thing" keep us from Heaven, according to Paul the one bad thing is not accepting Jesus. Sin was dealt with. Jesus became sin and finished the work. The new covenant is adoption and one bad thing cannot get us un-adopted. I love your illustrations and think you are so talented. Keep up the good works...just make sure we do not teach kids to be good and love Jesus because of fear of going to eternal Hell. We have security in Jesus because God adopted us into His family. Preach the Good News!

Hi Kolby, my wife and I have been prayed over and we prayed and now we are in charge of our churches very in trouble children's ministry. I am directing a a kid's club and I am brand new and I have what the LORD wants me to teach, and I have been praying and seeking the LORD almost daily. He led me here. I have my own testimony how I cam to Christ, but I am writing to ask if it is ok to use your ideas as far as the pots go? This is wonderful. God Bless!

Maybe instead of making the “one bad thing” the main focus…which seems to focus on fear and not God’s grace…. Instead it should be the FREE gift of salvation that is available to us through the sacrifice that Christ made for us on the cross, THAT is what keeps us out of hell. If we believe in our hearts and confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord then we will be saved. Christ’s sacrifice, we believe, we receive, we confess, we repent, we are saved.

Not only knowing that Jesus died for our sins can save us but we also died to sin with him that’s why we can not let sin rule over us anymore. If you know Jesus died for you but you continue in sin there is no sacrifice to save you: you have to understand that Jesus died our death it was because of us he had to die and so from now on you have to offer your body as a living sacrifice holy and pleasant to God and live not for you but for Him.

+Kolby King, continually focusing on and repeating the fact that it only takes ONE BAD THING, rather makes God seem unfair and unjust that he would send someone to hell to suffer for all eternity for ONE BAD THING, one little lie. Better to focus on verses which tell us that we are all FILLED WITH SIN, that we are all as a FILTHY RAGS in God's eyes because even the things WE Think are GOOD, even THOSE things fall short of God's standard. More importantly, the point your missing with them is to explain that EVEN IF THEY WERE PERFECT, even if it were possible to live their entire life WITHOUT sinning (again, stress NOT POSSIBLE), God says we STILL WOULDN'T MAKE IT TO HEAVEN!!! God says we are SPIRITUALLY DEAD, and in order to get to Heaven we MUST BE BORN AGAIN!! WE must be made SPIRITUALLY ALIVE. We are separated from God because of the sins we do, and also because we are SPIRITUALLY DEAD, and the part of us that can have a relationship with God is DEAD.

Ron, Thanks for your input but I'd like for you to consider a thought: I often go to public schools and share non-religious assemblies about self-worth, life choices and drug awareness. Let's say I'm in an assembly and I say, "Don't do drugs. They'll only hurt you..." I've never had anyone come up afterwards and say, "Leave them alone. Let them make up their own minds when they get older." Why? Because people agree that this is true and since it's true they don't have any problem with kids being warned. The reason, I'm guessing, that you have an issue with what I'm sharing in this video is that you don't believe what I'm saying is true. So, for a moment, I want you to step into my shoes. Jesus Christ changed my life. I knew He is real and His Word is truth. So, how can I not warn people of any age about what God has warned us about? Think of it this way: I heard of a man who saw that a bridge had washed out in a rain storm. So he stood in the road to stop the traffic because he knew the "truth" of what was waiting for them up the road. But what if this inconvenienced people? What if they didn't like it? What if they didn't agree with what he did? It didn't matter because he knew the truth and by knowing the truth, how could he let others travel that way? I hope this makes some sense to you. Our goal is simply to share the truth in a clear and understandable way. People can make their own choices about what to do with that truth. I would be glad to talk with you more, if you're willing. You can contact me through our main website at www.ThreeThirtyMinistries.org/contact.
