I don’t really mind IKEA calling out Balenciaga for its „fashion“. I don’t see it as endorsing Balenciaga at all, and Balenciaga doesn’t come across as cool … just ridiculous.

Yes! And return to Cristobal's Spanish roots. Spain has such a rich history of fashion, and I don't understand why Balenciaga doesn't utilize that.

Was at the Cabazon Outlets by Palm Springs last weekend. and relieved to see Balenciaga had no que and the store appeared to have no shoppers. Off topic but speaking of ques...A que for a designer outlet is even more cringe than a luxury flagship. I couldn't bring myself to do it. Saved me some money I suppose. Thanks for not letting them sweep this under the rug. They are clearly under the impression we will forget and this will blow over. You're the best Dacob ❤

I think this is so funny! Making fun of Balenciaga doesn’t read (cool) to me. I think it’s saying Balenciaga is dumb, and many of us would add beneath most people these days. yeah ikea is basically saying. dudes this isnt fasion or even clothes what are you doing it looks like garbage. here is our version... still garbage XD. no one thinks balenciaga looks cool. surely. and with the bag. if youre taking inspiration from a $1 shopping bag to inflate the price to cost several thousands youre doing something wrong. then again there is always some idiot that buys this shit. otherwise they wouldnt exist. im not into fashion. i basically wear a t-shirt and jeans every day. no one outside these insane brands think theyre cool. why do i care. non of this nonsense affects me anyway. i just think its funny people look up to these clown brands and pay their inflated prices for it to look homeless.

Is it possible Ikea was not aware of the Balenciaga "teddybear " situation? Great explanation regarding cycle of designers appropriating from the streets. I made a longer video, 'Trickledown Fashion Theory'. Always a great topic, people wearing clothes without knowing what the clothes represent. We should revisit this topic regularly. In my opinion, even if the wearer does not care about fashion, they most likely would not wear an item if they were aware the company who made the garment was found contributing to pollution, exploiting third world workers, or creating irresponsible (toxic) campaigns. This channel is such a great space for these conversations! Thank you Dacob!

I moved to Brixton in the early 90's.. and it was a lox income area, but then the aritsts started moving there (cheap space) then it became cool. A 'des res'. I do wonder if people who are still "promoting" Balenciaga, like Nicole Kidman, are doing so because they signed a contract before the "teddy bear scandal". I'm Aussie, and from the part of Sydney where the Kidmans grew up. Her father was a well respected psychologist who wrote books, and Nicole is known to be generally publicity shy. So I would like to think that she would not be knowingly promoting Balenciaga unless there was some other condition attached forcing her to do so.
