Emmy’s family is so darn lucky to have her ! She’s a gem !!! Her husband must adore her and her boys must be so proud to have her as a mommy 😭💕

I went to an Ichiran in Kyoto this summer and was so annoyed by the lack of space to put my stuff and the lack of napkins. As I was leaving, I turned around and saw those boxes and the hooks and felt like an idiot. 🤦🏻‍♀️ In Japan, a lot of the places that have napkins use thin tissue.

In Korea it is usually a roll of toilet paper on the table, classy places have facial tissue boxes on the table.

It’s a good idea. Usually if you need a tissue, your hands are already dirty. This way the only thing you touch is the tissue that you take.

It's for when you need to blow your nose from the spice! You can put as much spice in there as you want and what's cool is you just lean back and grab one, then get back to eating! Everyone complains of the small space, but they forget Japan is literally an island that can't build out, only up. So they have to get creative with their small spaces. Anyone that complains about small space (lookin at you m00tw00t) should try going through Golden Gai! Now THAT is small!

TheRelic yes but when you have a runny nose from the spice, as long as you are silent it is fine. Public more or less is out in the street. It’s also rude to drink in public while walking, standing to the side is okay. So long as you take polite precautions for things it’s not seen as rude.

Pretty sure I heard a Brazilian saying something about going somewhere on Thuraday as Emmy was entering the place 😂 how is it that we always recognize our mother tongue even amidst indistinguishable sounds?

I heard it too! On the minute 03:52. And, to your point, in the words of Zygmunt Bauman, besides obvious sonic recognition of a language that is familiar to you, that is the subconscious sentiment of belonging to a community. We search for anything and everything that resembles home and gives us a sense of safety in foreign environments where we are often seen as others.

I'm drooling. Never thought I'd enjoy watching someone else eat. I've gotta go back to Japan. I was last there in 83 and almost got too fat for the Marine Corps. Fortunately for me they let me go back to Okinawa and march up and down sandy mountains all day until I walked it off. Of course then came the Philippines and more great food.....

I've only ever had ramen in America at a ramen restaurant that serves authentic ramen BUT, that ramen (if indeed authentic) just coats your belly in warmth and makes you feel instantly happy. It's just so heavenly.

I actually just came back from Japan two weeks ago and was lucky enough to visit the Shinjuku location of Ichiran! Keep up the great work! I hope to one day be as good as you!

Love the interiors of this place to make you concentrate on the dish. This authentic ramem looks so nice too.

This is my favorite "video" of you. The food looks fantastic, but you are so vulnerable and authentic it's like sunshine walking into a room. God bless you, Emmy. You are a powerful force for good in a world that can be so cruel.

Back in the 1960s when I lived and worked in Japan, Loved the fake food displayed in the restaurant's windows. Would order my food by copying the Japanese characters on paper and giving it to the Waiter. Think that 97% of the time, I would get what I wanted!!! Loved the people and the country!!!

Forever in love with ICHIRAN in Brooklyn! I'm sure the original is even more amazing...

I love that you are respectful of others privacy and blur the faces of the strangers passing by. So many other KZreadrs don’t do that, and some even intentionally zoom in on people without their consent. Thank you for being respectful of others ☺️

I was lucky to enough to go to Japan back in ‘16 for a high school trip. I am now just realizing that the first ramen I ever had was here… No wonder why nothing else compares!!

You made it like this is really a moment of being thankful as a bowl of delicious ramen was being served in such a unique and respectful manner. That kind of single booth is like only you and the ramen bowl alone. "ENJOY".

I watched the episode of Only In Japan on KZread, about this kind of ramen where the broth is BLUE! As in Blue Hawaiian flavoring in your shaved ice or no alcoholic drinks, but it's not really Blue Hawaiian! It makes the overall ramen bowl look like you're looking at a 3D map that's edible!

Emmy's videos are so soothing, calming and fun! I love to use them to decompress and get the stress of the day off of my head!

Actually Ichiran is in New York City directly in Time Square. I visited it when I took a trip to NY, definitely worth going, it's delicious. I recommend it if you ever get the chance to go.

I love how illustrative and specific you are in your description of textures, colors, flavors, mouth feel and telling about each course. I just feel as if I have experienced every morsel. You have such a gift. I like to go on food adventures. I do them in my own small way and over the years my extended family was able to join in. We grew up eating the foods of the world. My mom was a great cook and we often fed the neighborhood as my father would say. I am a fan of Nissin instant foods no MSG Ramen and chow mien noodle cups, bowls and dishes. All fast and easy any of course you can add proteins and more veg. Lots of different Asia styles represented in Florida and yearly festivals before Covid.

You are always such a joy to watch. Your presence and energy is unmatched. You are such a breath of fresh air when im scrolling through all the craziness in my feed. I have trouble sleeping, so every night I put on your hard times playlist and fall asleep to it. You are such a positive influence and are hands down my favorite KZreadr. Keep being amazing, Emmy and I’m SO JEALOUS THAT YOU WENT TO ICHIRAN

I left my iPad in a music store in Tokyo once, and then took off on foot. About two hours later I realized it was gone and assumed I left it in a bathroom somewhere so I backtracked. It wasn’t there. Eventually I made it back to the shop and it was waiting for me on the counter. I was SHOCKED. It sat there in plain sight for at least 4 hours.

That place is awesome. Everything so automated but so smooth. The privacy is really cool. Food looked really good. Really interesting to see.
