Years ago I was a music therapist at a boys' school. The kids were all special education. I wrote a letter to Ice Cube and told him that he had a lot of fans there. Ice Cube wrote back with an autographed picture, signing it, "To my Home Boys at [school's name]. The students were so psyched by that. They were jumping around saying, "He called us his Homeboys!" He made them so happy. Ice Cube can do no wrong in my eyes.

Taking your time and thinking before speaking is something I'm trying to instill in my daughter right now. Ice Cube has always been this way in interviews. I believe it's an important attribute to have when having conversation of any kind, especially today when people are waiting to hear you say something "wrong" than anything else.

Lol you can get caught up because the interviewer is intentionally throwing loaded questions and trying to provoke some sort of response, or from being too comfortable with the interviewer and letting your guard down. Ice Cube remembers to stay cautious in what he says in both situations.

He's not a punk, he doesn't censor what he says and he doesn't let other people put words in his mouth.
