5-cylinder is actually an ideal configuration to reduce vibration. Great deal. Here in San Jose California, used cars are selling at an all time premium due to shortage of cars.

Here in SoCal, i mostly see professionals driving Volvo’s. There’s a Swedish Auto clinic near where I live and I see Volvo’s and Saab’s from various vintages being dropped of for maintenance and they all look like they are very well taken care of.

I beg to differ. My 4 cylinder Camry ( With 448 K miles) Is far more reliable than any 5 cylinder, Gets better gas mileage, And is so smooth that it was always getting compared compared with its more more expensive V6 Lexus ES cousin. Sure it takes Just under 9 seconds to reach 60MPH but I've gotten enough speeding tickets in the 20 years I've had her And she has no problems keeping up with my fellow kamikaze julios bullios down here in Miami.

Yeah I like it when he was rebuilding the cars that's all I got into watching him was with the Corvette swamp that or whatever it was and then there was the mustang that the white one that he painted it red . But Randy did work on the 57 Plymouth to four-door the Christina looking one he did work on that a little bit he did get her up and running had to fix a leaky transmission. I like the videos when him and TK get together and go cruising around and the one time they almost got hit by a deer that was a good one okay what the heck they were driving a cavalier or some crap like that. Or is that Mitsubishi Colt thing station wagon whatever the hell that was. But yes I dig the Volvo very much I like it

Love the Volvo XC70 units. Bought an 840 a while back at 317000 miles and was at 354000 when I put it under a semi during a snow storm. Randy, the reason why the colour between the bumpers and bodywork is evident is because this was VOLVOs 1st estate into the 4WD territory, it was to show the difference between the normal estate to the off road element. it wasn't because they were being cheap.

Those 04's are great! The 2.5T is a great engine. That Brake pedal sensor is in the Brake booster! It measures how much the pedal is depressed for the ABS system, doesn't have anything to do with the Brake lights, and it will cause the ABS light to come on. I've changed many of those. the Siren code means the battery in the alarm in the right front fender is dead or dying. They're great cars.

These are really great cars Randy! They last forever if you take good care of them. The 2.5T is one of the nicest engines Volvo ever made. Reliable, punchy, refined and great gas mileage. The code for the sirene is nothing important. The batteries of them all go out on these cars. On of the codes said that there was an air leakage in the intake of the engine. You should take a look at that because these leakages could cause less power. I would love to see you doing some work on this car. Make it nice again. This car deserves it all day long. If I would live in the US I would be very interested in buying this car. I think it is a steal!

That was a very good deal for the Volvo. You are correct to say that the car is not really attractive but that is not why folks bought them. They bought them knowing that it is the perfect car for bad weather and snow. If I had to pick your truck or that Volvo for a snowy drive, i would choose the Volvo as it will probably be better in the snow due to the weight distribution.

I have an 02 s80 T, twin turbo straight six and I don't think of it as a beater at all. It only has 168,000 miles on it and it feels like a luxury car. Yes, it has a few groans and creaks but it can go 90 all day on the highway (I don't do that, but it seems it could), it rolls down the road like a lux car. It's not the latest/greatest but I recently test drove a brand new Polestar 2 (an electric, rebadged Volvo) and while that felt new and next-gen, it didn't make my car feel like a dinosaur (well the EV part of it did, but not the general feel of the car). This wagon looks pretty good, could use some work on the leather and vinyl inside and the back door and bumper need fixing but inside, it looks pretty good. It has plenty of life in it.

Another score for you Randy. I have had a couple XC70’s (04 and 07). From my experience they are great vehicles. The good ones seem to be as dependable as an axe and run forever…however when they are problematic particularly electrical or module issues they can be a nightmare. Hopefully you got a good one and can pass it onto someone who’s in need of a dependable inexpensive car. The 3rd row seat is a fairly rare option on those.

But Volvos don't suffer neglect or they will cost you big time. They highlight the distinction between reliability and durability. Looks like you got a bit of a cream puff there. I'd hang on to it.

A lot of error codes and messages get thrown up when the battery voltage gets low. Sometimes (UK model anyway) when you start the car, run it a few miles to charge the battery up then turn off and re-start, the error codes and messages vanish. We've got a 2004 V70 auto in the family, bought new by my late father (Was promised to me around 2012 but it never happened) and it's now with one of my daughters. It's not been totally trouble-free but then dad didn't look after it very well, but it is 17 years old today (from date of first registration)

I own one and I am a Volvo enthusiast. Change the fuel filter replace the rubber vacuum and turbo hoses check the motor mounts and do a few transmission fluid drain and fills. The good timing belt is a really good sign because it is common in Volvo maintenance that the cam seals get replaced along with the timing belt

Also hit the MAF with some cleaner. Simple stuff but if you know how to maintain them they are great

A good all-round car. AWD and fairly high ground clearance. Plenty of room for everything you want to bring with you. Nice interior with full leather. Fairly quick. Great safety. I like the design including the black bumpers. Makes it look sturdy. In Sweden they used to be common as police cars. Some of the newer version XC70 are still around. Today they often have the V90 Cross Country.

Hi. Try restoring the external plastic with a heatgun (the results can be spectacular). It would be great content for cheap.
