Beetles got fuel injection in 1975. Fastback and Squarebacks had fuel injection in the late 60's

  • @lawrencetaylor5481

I owned a 78 Super Beetle. Don't remember what the fuel injection looked like but, if I remember correctly, it was throttle body so, it has something resembling a carburetor. The no start issue could be the battery was too weak even though it had power. I'd get it and call Mustie1, he knows damn near EVERYTHING about VW's. He would have it running in like 2 minutes as long as it had fuel pressure. Would love to see the Beetle revived. The convertibles are quite the collector item in the VW community. You could maybe even sell it to Mustie, I'm sure he'd be very interested. JMO. One other thing, the car with the miss, not the Infinity but the other one, could be a coil. My van LOVES to get a miss every 3 years or so, it's old but, NEVER throws a check engine light. I could be wrong but, worth checking out. Good luck Randy!

From the prices I'm looking at, the beetle is worth $4 grand all day as it sits not running. If you can get it for a few grand or less, I'd say it would make a great long term vlog project, or short term depending on how you want to approach it. Every single part for this bug is available after market which makes it easy to refurbish or rebuild. Be interesting for sure! 👍✌

The light flashing on the cr-v is: Brake press You must press the brake pedal before activating the electric parking brake or automatic brake hold. If the indicator blinks, automatic brake hold is canceled during operation. Immediately press the brake pedal.

This serie was made because of the 1 miljon production of the Golf1. You will ever find a lot of them. The paint is still original and yes it was fuelinjection.

I've had a 2004 Xterra, same setup as that one. FYI that Service Engine Soon light in the Xterra is the camshaft position sensor. It sits in the valley of the engine and over time the connection deteriorates, usually around 120k+. It is still driveable for a while but it will run very rich and eventually foul the O2 sensors and catalytic converter. I drove mine with that issue for about 45k miles until the cat went bad and stunk too much to drive.

Beetle had a front-end collision, hence the damage on the hood, and if you look carefully the right front hood shock is partly collapsed, closer to body on that side. Convertible Supers CAN be worth saving, but this one is awfully rough to try. Will be easy to get running, but if you aren't interested in doing paint and a top, what is the point? $1.5K max, IMHO
