Great reaction, If you want the answer to "is Bo ok?" you need to listen to "all eyes on me" it sort of carries on from this song, he made it 5 years later during covid.

Is he ok? The answer is no. But he is better.

There are two kinds of reactors: the ones that immediately pick up the mood change and end up in tears, and the ones who keep laughing through the entire peace, maybe with a slight confusion in the end. I appreciate the first ones so much. The correct reaction to this is exactly yours: is Bo okay..? Because man, I remember seeing this for the first time a few years ago and I immediately had to google him & check if he was even alive anymore. This is the most gut-wrecking and real performance I've seen anyone do. You must check his other stuff, too. Many have suggested "All eyes on me", it should be the next one for sure.

I could tell you picked up on it very quickly. That's commendable. I've watched people react to this before and many are still chuckling at the end. I can't watch this without shedding tears.

"...Laughs as he attempts to give you what he cannot give himself" - it reminds me of a story I heard about Robin Williams. He was walking off stage after crushing it (of course) and one of the other performers basically told him that he killed it and Robin turned to him and said (paraphrasing here), "Isn't it amazing that we can make so many people happy and we can't do that for ourselves." People see the fame and money and think that is happiness. If you are empty going in, you are going to be empty on the other side of it too. I'd also like to add that you can tell Bo lost himself during this performance - he fell into the music to save him from truly and completely plummeting before he just had to leave.

He was having panic attacks before shows at this time. After this tour he took about 5 years off.

Also, though it cuts pretty quick, at the end when he says "Good night, I hope you're happy" he quickly throws the mic and walks away. People have conflicting views on whether it was just the act or not but considering he was a 20 year old kid and afterwards took several years long break I'd say it was probably taking a toll on him

She was literally on point with everything on the first listen. It took me like 10 listens to figure out the burrito was a metaphor.

It was recorded separately at his home and included as the last song for the special when it was broadcast. It rounds it off perfectly, but wasn't performed at the actual show.

The whole song is layers of metaphor being pealed back. Bo did a Netflix special, 'Inside', which he made during the pandemic lockdown. Brilliant mind.

"-Laughs as he attempts to give you what he cannot give himself" The show was called Make Happy. At the end he is saying "I hope you're happy" with the implication being that he is not. Fucking tragic.

You don’t have to be a celebrity to feel and go through these things that line destroyed me because it hit hard at the fact I try to help other because I don’t know how to help myself sometimes

I don't know yet if this was your introduction to mr. Burnham but I have seen people recommend that this ISN'T your intro to his work. It's hard to catch the layers of his comedy style in this song. But you did and that's great. He does funny bits that are just funny and with easy metaphors, but the best bits are these ones. The ones aren't funny, but they're funny cause it's tragic and true.

As others have said check out "all eyes on me". Its the pseudo followup to this years later and he won a grammy for it.

It's something a large amount of comedians and generally people who want to please others suffer from. It's a massive reason why Stanczyk is my favorite painting.
