His "Kanye Rant" was his last performance before the 5 years. It's not only incredible, but also it provides a look into his mind and how he felt about performing.

An important note: while the Kanye Rant as a bit was part of his last performance, the one that was recorded for Make Happy was *not* his last performance, as he had several tour dates after that. I think it's vital to point this out, because it always makes me uncomfortable when people incorrectly claim that Make Happy was his last performance before the break, or that Make Happy shows him in the midst of a panic attack, because these claims come from a place of romanticizing mental illness, something that Bo himself says he hates. The panic attacks were cut from the final edit of Make Happy, and he played several shows after the shows that were recorded for MH.
Yes, more Bo. I know You are not music reactor, but he is another level :) "Art is dead" is worth hearing: references to Carlin and more

Bo Burnham is so talented. Definitely worth watching: "Can't handle this right now" (Kanye rant), "That funny feeling", "Art is dead", "From god's perspective". TBH, i'd recommend alot more, but these 4 are a must watch IMO. (leaving out the two that you have already seen)
The whole special is seriously worth a watch. It's impressive.

For real dude won a Grammy for this special
I think he was going for a concert vibe with this one. The music and visuals feel like that, so I think the audience sounds were part of that aesthetic. The subject matter of the piece is about how he would be in front of a live audience at the moment if it were up to him. The thing that impresses me most about this, is the camera grab spin move. It's like a fourth wall break pushed further than I've ever seen one pushed. When he swings the camera and it faces the wall his shadow is cast from the light behind him, and we can see he is behind the camera, looking at the same shadow on the wall we are. He's got an insane amount of talent and creativity
I hope you realize how fun it is to watch your reactions. Old “shut ins “ like myself really get used to seeing a lot of the same reactors, and after a bit,a familiar fondness develops. Ty for what you do.
3:00 if you start reacting to Bo in general you'll find out that's at the base of most if not all of his music. He uses comedy and "funny bits" to talk about serious stuff and make you think. Everyone here's saying it, I'll say it too: man's a genius.
I know a lot of people have already recommended his Kanye Rant/Can't Handle This but I absolutely agree. It goes hand in hand with this song since that was when he quit comedy. But also, he has a line in that song that helps to explain the added laughter: "You can tell them anything, if you just make it funny, make it rhyme". Literally, you can pour your heart out, cry for help, etc, but as long as you make it into a bit or a song people will laugh without hearing you Also, I highly recommend watching "Are You Happy" immediately following Can't Handle This. Those two back-to-back are how he finishes his special Make Happy and it is very simple but adds so much to what you feel after Can't Handle This
The special that this is from is absolutely amazing.
Your questions about the laugh track that he played is very much illustrated by his performance of "Can't Handle This" (Kanye Rant). He shares a very deep and vulnerable moment with the crowd and then goes back to the "silly" part of the song and much of the crowd cheers and acts like he didn't just spill his heart for them on that stage. I can't imagine how that had to feel for him, especially being on tour with that being his ending performance EVERY night. It had to be so frustrating for him.
It's weird to watch this separate from the movie. I remember this song comes on after he cries. So I cried the entire time. It was a soundtrack to my sobs. Now I actually heard it.
I didn't know Bo was back. Glad he's been able to overcome his stage fright and perform again. Best wishes to him in the future.

His older stuff when hes a 16 year old kid in his room just singing his little songs is also great. Just if you want to get a little bit of whiplash seeing how he was wittier and smarter as a kid than most of us ever will be.
I really enjoy all the varied subjects you bring to our attention and always look forward to hearing your thoughts. Really smart, kindhearted content. If your interested in reacting to another Bo Burnham song I think "That Funny Feeling," would be a good one.
Your thoughts on the video are genuinely way more insightful than any reactor I've seen before. Much respect for really taking time to express your interpretation! Edit: and if you're still taking recommendations, How the World Works and God's Perspective are also great songs that'll create a lot of conversation.

ha love the oxymoron here, "cool sweater".
A literary recommendation, just because watching this reminded me that I read Albert Camus’ The Plague while isolated during the pandemic, and it helped me process many of the ideas I was wrestling with regarding aloneness and social normalcy.
This one is just a good listen as an actual song for me. Its super emotional with the context of this being him trying to come back after the Kanye Rant good bye song for 5 years! The whole "Inside" album being him trying to come back after 5 years but bam theres covid and everything is shut down is super relatable, too. Other great ones to react to: The Chicken, From God's Perspective, Can't Handle this Right Now
Yes, more Bo. His newest work requires a bit of context, which it sounds like you're already familiar with. But even work like "Art is Dead" back in 2010 or so, he was already ahead of the curve of the corporate entertainment social media sickness our world has become. You are sweet and clever, and Bo's works are practically generationally defining. I really love watching you dig into deep content.
Bo Burnham beat all other comedians to the punch with his Netflix special, Inside, which debuted in May of 2021 (when the covid vaccine was still rolling out). Other comedians had not yet even had a chance to play to full comedy crowds, much less film a special with their two-cents about the quarantine. Most of the people who watched Inside when it premiered had probably not spent much time outside of their 14 month-long quarantine bubbles. Personally, I found the resonance of this special to be quite astounding. It's worth it to watch the whole performance in one sitting while trying to remember where/how you were in May of 2021.
good take yo, you're actually giving an honest reaction that isn't a bunch of bs. You're awesome, keep going!.
I love your reactions to Bo and there's so much of his stuff that you definitely would enjoy. If I could only recommend one song from him, it would be "The Chicken"... It's a very interesting and thought provoking song. Also, your smile is absolutely gorgeous :D Have a fantastic day and keep smiling!
At least 20,000 people watching this. I always enjoy them and your words. Deeper thought than I typically have.
I know u want to watch and record Bo’s songs and I get that. But just watching that entire special from beginning to end is so good I’d suggest doing that after you record your reactions. You should do “how the world works” from that special sometime. Love the channel
I love your sweater!
I'd never heard of him. But this was very cool, even more so with your commentary giving me some context. Thank you!
This came out almost a year after he filmed it, when I was about to turn 30 myself. He really hit several nails on the head for me. If you haven't seen this special (Inside) and its outtakes on KZread, I cannot recommend both enough. 11/10 would stake my life on it

if you want to see exactly what happened to him, how he felt during the panic atacks and the context and meaning of the prerecorded laughter you should definitely watch his "Kanye Rant", this was the end of that show and the start of the time he was away from stand-up untill "inside"
Wow I love your jumper ❤
i love the sweater😍

I haven’t seen that video yet but the title sounds familiar
An obvious, albeit maybe trite literary recommendation would be Roland Barthes' "Death of the author", given your thought about the authors intended meaning and the reader's diverging reception. A cool (and short) follow up read then is Jorge Louis Borges' "Pierre Menard, Author of the Quixote”, which juxtaposes Barthes' argued irrelevance of the auther for an interpretation of their work with the idea that the context of a works production heavily influences how it could be read.
I wrote a poem based on semantic satiation. "all eyes on me" kinda reminds of if.
Especially after finding out that he was suffering from panic attacks during shows, that bridge hits me like a fucking freight train. 🎵Are you feeling nervous? Are you having fun?/ It's almost over. It's just begun/ Don't overthink this, look in my eye/ Don't be scared, don't be shy, come on in, the water's fine🎵 As someone who is diagnosed with Avoidant Personality Disorder, it's a strange sensation to feel extreme anxiety in even the most basic human interactions, to the point where I just want to disappear completely. The irony is, the only place where I felt at home was on the stage, which is normally something avoidant types can't stand. It was the only place where I felt above anyone's judgment. Then I'd step off the stage after the show, and become a nervous wreck. I've made some improvements over the years, but I'm far from perfect, and it's hard to stay logically sound when your emotions are going haywire
Please do more Bo Burnham!! You are super intelligent, I know you’ll enjoy him a lot.
Perfect review!
_"And then the funniest thing happened"_ Covid. Right when he was ready to re-emerge from his solitude. Poor guy. :/
The laugh track he put in feels like a throwback to his Kanye Rant "you can tell them anything if you just makr it funny, makr it rhyme". Because hes a comedian and has a dry delivery people are expecting funny, and they laugh. So when he said "the funniest thing happened" its funny cos its relatable or awkward, but its inappropriate cos hes baring his soul. A lot of his later work references the audience and how they don't know him, theres pressure to please others but he needs to be real too, and shedding his "Act" for autheticity. Interesting you picked up on it too, a lot of people didnt.
the bit where he purposefully added laughter is because when he said "funniest thing happened" he was talking about covid lockdown and quarantine and the awful timing of it happening just when he thought about coming out and socializing again so laughters was inserted to emphasize the irony and creating ilusion of making the light of that situation
3:00 Yes. Both on the receiving end from others and moreso of my own doing about myself as well. I would also highly recommend watching his performance of Can't Handle This on his channel. Describes that so well.
Really looking forward to the Kanye Rant video if you choose to see that next, its truly a great watch.
Great video, Thank you
I think that you will extremely enjoy Bo's work :D! It is amazing. It always leaves you with something to think about. I would suggest his Kanye rant (ofc, I am sure you have seen others suggest this a lot). However, I would also love to see That Funny Feeling -- Bo Burnham (from "Inside"). Thank you :D
It hits hard as a stand-alone song, but in hits harder _inside_ the context of Inside. I highly recommend reacting to the whole special. Got it? Good. Now get inside.
Bo burnham is always great
I think the laugh track might be a bit of a callback to a line in his Kanye Rant, which was something along the lines of, "You can tell them anything, as long as you make it funny, make it rhyme." Should actually check out the Kanye Rant... I believe that was his last performance before the 5 year break and All Eyes On Me is a bit of a direct response to what he was going through and what he said during the Kanye Rant.
I recommend watching the Cant handle this, it basically relates to this as it was also his last performance he did before this special
“That funny feeling” “Can’t handle this” “Art is dead” “God’s Perspective”
Bo Burnham is so good and especially Inside is one of his best works! I hope you react to more of the songs in the album or other of his songs in general!

This is def his quarantine song. “We’re going to go where everybody knows everybody”… aka when we were isolated with our families, etc.
More Bo please!
Based on his Netflix special Inside, Bo had a really hard time with the pandemic.
You should check out "That Funny Feeling" if you liked this one.
Please do more Bo
That song is awesome, he is awesome. Super cool to listen to it again.
You need to check out Can't handle this "Kanye rant" to truly get the 5 years ago reference. Bravest performance ever!
Please please please you need to see The Chicken Song from Bo Burnham, is going to leave you in tears
It's one of my favorite songs very relatable, also the man is just very talented I miss his stand-ups I got to show love to a fellow Massachusetts native
In Florida we didn't do any kind of lock down. Just kept living. I spent alot of times at bars and everyone saying fuck it
It’s best to see the show as a whole to understand some of his decisions, he recorded it during lockdown and didn’t leave his house during recording and it’s just a visualization of a man slowly losing his mind due to isolation, it’s really impressive to watch even if it isn’t necessarily funny all the time
He put a laugh in cause he left comedy, and when he decided to come back, we were on lock down from covid.
I've been watching your videos for about 5 months now. I've always been curious but afraid to ask. Feel free not to answer but how did you get that scar on your neck?
"That Funny Feeling" from Inside is my favorite track of the whole thing.
I'd also recommend watching "intern" from the same special as this one. It breaks the 4th wall of content creation with mastery
All Eyes on Me is a worship song and no one can tell me differently.
Possible Book Recommendation: ‘Self-Help For Your Nerves’ by Dr. Claire Weekes. An excellent, pragmatic approach to deal with generalised anxiety disorders, PTSD & panic attacks. To any subscriber going through it, there is a way to minimise its impact on your life. Don’t give up. ❤️
I do the laughing thing you were talking about...probably a little to much. I feel like in the movie The Joker. I try to be aware and have caught myself doing it a few times. I think you are right on about the laugh track. I'm sure you can find plenty of examples of an audience laughing or applauding at an odd time. Hell watch Kanye Rant like people said, people cheer and scream after it. I'd be hesitant to even clap b/c I'd feel like shit. I also wonder if "All eyes on me" is referring to the audience paying to see him on stage, but then "pray for me" because we know that he struggles with anxiety while performing. Idk that may be off. Really been enjoying your Bo videos. Also no creep, but you are very pretty.
I think he's saying his crippling anxiety forced him off stage for 5 years, then he worked very hard on himself to overcome it, only to have it return. Cue the fake laughter for the cruel joke fate played on him.
Love this song :D
Nailed it. Again.
|The chicken| is a little dark and serious. |How the world works| is more lite and serious but still dark lol. Two great songs from inside. Oh and that funny feeling is pure art.
The oddly placed laughter was after he stated that he “needed to re-enter”, he chose to re-enter society one month before the lockdowns and was forced to stay inside. The laughter was irony.
This style of commentary in music reminds me of 'Rage Against The Machine'. Of course a totally different genre of music, but it just reminded me of them. I'll have to go and listen to them again because I remember getting moved a lot by their message when I was younger.
Unlike his other clips that are easier to react to individually; I believe that Bo’s clips from “Inside” are better suited to watching in it’s entirety. As there is a clear thru line in this comedy special that you’ll miss if you react to just clips out of order. I personally believe you’ll get more out of it if you watch all at once. And then maybe you could post a general recap and thoughts video. I know that’s not your usual style and I am unclear on your daily schedule - if that’s even a possibility - or if you even have an interest in that method. Just my two cents! Not a demand, and of course I’ll still watch any Bo Burnham reactions; whether it’s from this special or others. Just wanted to add my perspective!! The entire special is a banger, but the following songs live rent free in my head: “How The World Works”, “White Womans Instagram”, “Unpaid Intern”, “Goodbye”, and “Shit”, plus “The Chicken” from his Inside Outtakes he released a year after this. This was one of my favorite things out of 2021. I always walk away with things to think about from Bo, but inside was a whole new level for me. I think I watched it four or five times in a weekend. Top tier. Deserves all the awards it got!
I’m curious as to why she no longer does the “click👉🏿” at the end of the video anymore.🥺
Im so bad at social interraction. My go to is agreeing alot and laugh, you should see how that looks when its kinda depressing or serious talks
definitely have to check out Tim Minchin! he's amazing!
Bo Burnham fits for your channel well despite you not usually doing music. I think you'd dig his stuff overall
Where did you get that cool fisherman sweater?
Why Bo put laugh track after this serious bit? Because this is exactly what happened, when he performed "Kanye Rant". He told people that: "He can't handle it right now and how his mental health is slipping." and what did the audience do? They laughed.

Laugh track of our minds the running commentary and the scream to be herd by everyone and no one the call to engage anyone the challenge to accept your ownself by yourself. I will sing to my own pain and I will dance at my funeral, and I hope you will be there
I just had a crazy Idea. I think it would be hilarious if you did a review of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Pretending it's an actual documentary =P
May be obvious to you but (first of all, great reaction) it took me too long to figure/interpret this song is Bo speaking to himself to get up and move.
