Technically, he's a 'counter-tenor' which means he sings so high that he sings in a female range. And it isn't jus how high he sings, but also how clear his tone is that makes him such a special talent.

You have to listen to Pentatonix with headphones so you can hear every sound they are making. You will be surprised how much you can miss.

Scott absolutely gets overlooked. He's my favorite. I've never seen Scott get singled out and anyone say how talented he is. He has such a beautiful voice. Its a shame he doesn't get acknowledged for it like the rest do.

Pentatonix are gifts from God!!! They all have mad skills!!! Kevin can beatbox like nobody's business he can also knock it out of the park with his voice. But they all have very unique beautiful voices🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤.💖🫶😍🤯

Their talent moves me to tears every time I hear them sing this. Their voices are un-comparable and legends in their own right.

There was a pro vocal coach from Italy who went through a couple of their songs in detail (with subtitles) He said that Kirstin has "a voice like a blade," and it's so true - it cuts to your heart. Kevin has mic pickups in his coat to allow the whole live crowd to heart the magic of what he's doing with the body percussion - he's brilliant. You are now a "Pentaholic"! There are dozens of PTX Christmas songs - I like God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and What Christmas Means to Me (which is one of their original songs). Enjoy !

I am so happy you saw the live version of this, it really showcases their skills and destroys any doubt that they are only using their voices and bodies to make music. I'm sure the other commenters are screaming "WHY AREN'T YOU WEARING HEADPHONES!?!?!", but for real it is a really different kind of magic from speakers to headphones or even earbuds. I'll be lucky enough to be seeing them perform this song live in somewhere around 72 hours. I love them so much and absolutely can't wait. Great reaction - they never disappoint! You've done two slow paced and gorgeous songs, so for a change of pace, I recommend "Daft Punk" and/or their original "Coffee in Bed". You mentioned Kevin's beatboxing...you haven't heard anything yet and in those 2 songs he will blow your mind! And I guarantee more Mitch slaps, too.

Just as an experiment for yourself, you should view their other video for this same song. The similarity of the "studio" and "live" videos will blow your mind. But just for clarity, they vowed LONG ago that they would never make a video that they couldn't also sing in live performance. If you REALLY want to see their versatility, check these three titles from their PTX Official site. "Daft Punk" - a medley of electro-pop by the European group Daft Punk; "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies" - a classical composition without words performed by a group with no other instruments but their voices; and "Jolene (with Dolly Parton")" - a country-western song. What do they have in common? Three totally different styles, three Grammy awards.

You can see the passion in their singing by looking at their body language.

They are very talented and have a big Christmas selection of songs

This was fairly simple beatboxing for Kevin Olusola. You should try their cover of Bohemian Rhapsody if you like classic rock or maybe their Daft Punk medley if you like EDM. For a big, gorgeous Christmas song try Mary Did You Know. They have about 2 metric tons of Christmas songs, so take your pick for the next month or so. Dance Of The Sugar Plum fairy is a bit Christmas-y and won them a grammy. They also did a really fun arrangement on the 12 Days Of Christmas and Kevin sings some on it. I second the recommendation for headphones.

Kevin the beatboxer is a Yale graduate who majored in the classics. He also plays the cello and piano.

I love live versions but I still prefer their official videos but they’re both great

If you are headed down Christmas lane with PTX be sure to add The Prayer along with Oh Come All Ye Faithful and The Sugar Plum Fairy (another Grammy). A song with no lyrics and a group with no instruments! Pretty amazing! Love to watch your honest and sincere reactions. Happy Holidays to you!

My first time hearing Pentatonix was much like yours, and was pretty typical - "Wait - that voice is coming out of HIM?!?" Here you can see that yes, that beautiful voice is coming from Mitch. After that first viewing, I did a little research and found out the various parts the different people sing. So when I saw the Official Video of Hallelujah, and heard Avi singing lead, but still heard a nice bass line happening, I was also confused. The nice thing about this version of the song is that you can clearly see Scott (tall blonde guy) singing the bass line over to the side when the camera is focusing on Avi during his solo.

Now that you have seen them do Big and Powerful try some of their pop/modern things as well such as their Grammy Winning Daft Punk medley or thier version of New Rules. And their masterpiece acapella rendition of Queen's Bohemiam Rhapsody is not to be missed either.

I suggest O Come All Yea Faithful, my favorite version of that song ever!
