    The reason real why the mum is so upset about her younger daughter is because the younger daughter is fierce enough to say no to her and contradict her. The dad and the older daughter are her slaves who follow her blindly that's why she loves them. The younger daughter is her own person and that is something the mum couldn't take. If I were the younger daughter, since I am already earning money on my own, though it'll be hard, I'd definitely move out of the house.

    If the mother doesn't change I can imagine the daughter never speaking to her again after building her own life and becoming financially stable. I have a really big issue with the dad though, he doesn't do anything despite seeing what his wife was doing and his only excuse was that he would not receive any spending money if he interfered. I'm assuming he works and his wife is in charge of the finances like every other traditional Korean family. If he sees what his wife is doing and understands the emotional abuse she's throwing on their child, then he should just wrestle the purse strings from her. With that kind of immaturity, how is she able to properly manage the family finances? Being a bystander makes you just as guilty as the perpetrator.

  • @heleneo.7525
    @heleneo.75255 жыл бұрын

    Did anyone else think that the mom sounded like a 10 year old throwing a tantrum rather than a woman with two full grown children? Her reasoning was so immature and she expects her children to act like adults while she acts like a child. Even before finding out that the daughter went through something traumatic when she was a child, the way the mother treats her was deplorable. After learning that, the fact the mother still withholds affection and support is simply unfathomable. Kid's are not supposed to be perfect. They're supposed to be loved even though they make mistakes, because they're kids.

    "I don't like her anymore".....and then she is like: "Of course I love my daughter" ......yikes The scariest thing to me (other than the not specified horrible event in high school....) was that the sister and father didn't respond to her texts in the group chat and that they went to eat without her. It's like the mother dictates who to exile and the family follows her orders. That's just creepy and really sad as well.

    I have never been so frustrated before. I watched many episodes of Hello counselor and this one is the most frustrating for me although for other viewers there are worse concerns. How can the mom act so immature? If I was the daughter I would not be thinking if I was 'someone else's daughter' but more of like 'WHY DID YOU GIVE BIRTH TO ME IF YOU ARE GOING TO TREAT ME THIS WAY' Something like that.

If I was the daughter I would just stop talking to the mom and when I get the chance, I would move out. She would never hear from me again. The fact that she's ignoring her daughter for revenge shows what kinda of person she is. I would honestly ask her, "If you are just going to treat me like this, you shouldn't have given birth to me." I really hope this mother changes her ways. Edit: Every time YoungJa gives a emotional speech I always start to tear up.

Maybe I didn't grew up in their same environment, but I did live my hell in a different way when I was a kid and still in fighting with it today and If I ever become a mom I'm going to make my best to make my kids never feel the way I felt and sometimes feel.

    Nah. I bet more want to do this but don't because of how they will be viewed by society. Indian families are like that too. "Log kya kahenge?". "What will other people think?" My parents told my sister if she doesn't follow the rules she can go live on her own. She did the same in high school as this girl: smoking, drinking, lying, hanging out late at night with boys (you know how asians are with boys), getting tattoos, not dressing "modestly", taking birth control ( we don't know if she had sex or not in high school but we are also Catholic and according to the Vatican Council you shouldn't take birth control because it's a contraceptive). Parents are like: Living under my house, then obey my rules. Which is something I agree with (although from time to time I'm like "Ughhh why?!?!") My sister was able to move out because she joined the military after high school so she was getting money and a place to live, however my parents and her have been on bad terms since her junior year of high school till now - 6 years later. Their relationship has gotten much better since my sister is doing okay living on her own and she sometimes gives them money and stays more in contact with them then she used to. My sister is still probably doing a lot of the things my parents don't approve of, but since they are not actively seeing her doing it, it has become more of a out-of-sight, out-of-mind thing. And my parents have said that they were hurt by her actions. But they never stopped loving her. Which I believe this Korean mom did as well. She never stopped loving her daughter, but she was probably too proud to make up with her daughter. She probably wanted the daughter to do something first. I'm glad that the daughter brought the concern to this show because this was a much needed wake-up call for the mom.

But let's not deny how it's an untold rule almost all over the world except for some countries. Under age drinking and smoking is really bad for health and it's perfectly fine for parents to object that. But even if I happen to break any of these rules, my parents won't treat me like this. Heck 90% of families won't treat their children like this. They'll be really angry and probably won't talk to me for a week or two. But they'll forgive me in the end. She wasnt teaching her daughter anything by being that mean to her. It could cause resentment and hate in the end and make her not want to take care of her family when they are older. And just by looking at the daughter's face u can see how upset she is. Even though i don't condone smoking( at all )and drinking at a young age, I would rather ask why and teach her why she shouldn't do those things for her own benefit

    This is literally a toddler "raising" a college student. A parent's job is to raise and care for their kid(s), even if they make stupid mistakes. The youngest daughter shouldn't have to starve, pay her mom rent, or get ignored. The mom is doing the opposite of what a mom should do. She should take care of her daughter, not get revenge.

    It seems like whatever happened to her in 9th grade was the cause of the drinking and all, I have a feeling in what it is. The way she couldn't talk about it and broke down says a lot... I get she caused trouble but she was struggling and I am sure it was frustrating for the mother but your child went through something and it obviously damaged her in a way. I hope that the young receives help from whatever it was and now because her mother punishing her just makes it harder. I grew up with a very abusive mother not even close to what this mother is, we are not in speaking terms any longer and I was recently diagnosed with PTSD and Major depressive disorder. I tried to take my own life and I ended up in the hospital. Due to the on going abuse and other trauma.....I get flashbacks, nightmares, panic/anxiety attacks, and certain things I have to avoid in order not to be triggered. It can and will cause harm to a child. I am the outcome of it.

    The daughter said she experienced something terrible when she was only in 9th grade, Whatever that mightve been, and by the last two years of highschool, korean students get really stressed because of entance exams and are put under a lot of pressure. I can only guess that her drinking and smoking habit came from the immense pain and pressure she was under, while only being a kid. If her parents and family provided a healthy and supportive environment, she mightve not "gone awry". I dont want to speculate but those habits seem to be coping mechanisms for the pain she was feeling. If not, it still doesnt excuse her mum treating her like that. I hope they can patch things up, she caused her daughter so much pain but I hope her daughter can still forgive her, it seems like she wants nothing but to reconcile anyway. I cant imagine what it must feel like to not have that sort of parental support, knowing that no matter what u do, ur parents will always be there to love u unconditionally. If I found out my kid had developed unhealthy habits, I wouldn't turn it into something that has shamed me and hurt me, but try to figure out the root cause, and help my child, instead of isolating them for years

    So I guess the mom doesn't love her daughter unconditionally. I just can't believe she was treating her daughter so brutally in the name of revenge for so long like until when would she be happy... Until she completely killed her relationship with her kid?!.. It seems like the mom is power tripping and the fact that she gets satisfied when she's harsh/cruel to her daughter like good you deserve this you deserve to not eat well or travel to school you deserve to struggle, how twisted is that smh. I'm so glad she has a loving devoted bf he seems to love her unconditionally. if I was her I would've moved out and rent a shared room and not tell anyone I was gone because they all ignore her when she has a fight with the mom. If the mom doesn't improve than the daughter will soon turn cold towards her as well and just leave and never look back.

    My heart hurts for her. How could a parent ever think of taking revenge on their own child? She keeps saying that she does not feel sinceriety from her child but her child has done nothing but try to make amends for her wrong doings. She's always the one reaching out. Traits of bad parents from this video; Learning that your child is sick and ignoring her wellbeing? Making your child pay for you to do laundry, wash dishes and clean rooms? Not supporting her wellfare and her studies? Silently encouraging the rest of the family to ignore your child because you are mad at them? No matter how angry a parent is, they will never have the heart to ignore his/her sick child when they are ill; not unless they've given up on him/her entirely. I've never heard of a relationship between parent and child this bad. Its usually either; They recieve love but cant recieve much financial help or they recieve financial help with not much love. In this case Eunjoo receive none, which is heartbreaking.

    The rules her mom set are totally ridiculous. Why would you make your child feel like they are living with a loan shark? It's no wonder she became a rebellious teenager. Instead of trying to solve the problem properly, she go ballistic on her daughter and take revenge because of her tarnished 'good' image. Everyone made mistakes in their live but that doesn't mean they will never change. The saddest part for me is, this reminds me of my situation so much. I became rebellious because of my parent's bullshit rules, fat shaming, and having to look as perfect as possible in front of others. When I tried to change myself to a better me, instead of helping me they downgrade me even more and make me feel useless. My mom even go as far as bad mouthing me in front of my siblings with the intention of making them hate me and stay away from me. It's tiring you know..when you tried to change but those who are the closest to you keep on bringing up your past mistake again and again. I really hope her mom will change for good before she become mentally unstable and suicidal like me

Unfortunately you can't choose your blood family but you can choose your other family: surround yourself with friends who love, lift you up and support you just like a family should, just like you deserve! Also, don't be afraid to seek for professional psychological help... And remember to love yourself first, don't give up on yourself, you're worth it 💜 FIGHTING!

    When they ask whether they like her, the mother said no. Then when they ask the mother again at the end, if she loves her daughter then she said yes. Now, do I miss sth here or the mother keep twisting her words and the stories? Also I think this family revolve everything around money. ' I pay them for their labor' . I don't know if this is normal if your child is already 20. But it's normal in young child to encourage them to help imo.
