I Wanna Get Funky Albert King Guitar Lesson w Johnny Burgin

Музыка

I've always found this tune spellbinding and moody-- yet it's also kind of an anthem. It's one of Albert's best later tunes. I'll discuss the form of the song, the hypnotic rhythm guitar part, and ATTEMPT his epic solo. If this solo sounds like you've heard it before, it's because Albert invented these cliches. Have fun! If you have any Albert memories please post them, and if you can shed light on the various conflicting reports of his tuning, please do so! Like most folks, I am just dealing with AK in standard tuning just to be practical.

    so, at one time, you could get a life time supply of yellow wheat straw ziz zag' s for 8 cents. albert would play on pacific coast highway across from the pier. we would bribe the doorman to keep the side door open, we were not old enough to get in. he had a full band. he did not fool around...

    Albert King played with such energy and authority, no wonder he is considered one of the "kings of the blues". Every lick he played was sort of "here I am", "in your face"... I wish I had been lucky enough to catch one of his gigs. But I never did, so I don't really have any Albert King memories other than the day when I found a vynil with one Albert King side and one Otis Rush side, I think it was "Door to Door" (it was over 30 years ago, so I could be wrong), but both Albert and Otis became two of my heroes that day!

    Great lesson as usual, one thing which always seems to me a bit strange Several blues tunes do have the I chord minor but most of the others IV or V are Major or 7th isn't it a bit weird ? What's your comment on that

  • @JohnnyBurginBlues

    @JohnnyBurginBlues

    Жыл бұрын

    that's a good point. i'll have to think about the 'why'. but in this song, with tthe raised 5, that's like the brother of the Minor IV chord to me.
