The studio version is even better, John uses various ambient guitar effects which are quite mesmerizing and well as the slow fade in combined with the sound production, it's a true masterwork that song in particular on the Debut album but they had so many, it is quite plausible that there first album was quite possible the best of all time, the Beatles had some great tunes and Certaining their volume of great material can't be matched but they never produced any individual album quite like that, Sargent Pepper for all the hype only has 2 outstanding tunes

Significance of the lemon graphics?
@ted149
3 ай бұрын
From Wikipedia about their first album: “As with most Stone Roses releases, the cover displays a work by the band's guitarist John Squire, in this case a Jackson Pollock-influenced piece titled "Bye Bye Badman", which makes reference to the May 1968 riots in Paris. The cover was named by Q magazine as one of "The 100 Best Record Covers of All Time." In the accompanying article, Squire said: "Ian [Brown] had met this French man when he was hitching around Europe, this bloke had been in the riots, and he told Ian how lemons had been used as an antidote to tear gas. Then there was the documentary-a great shot at the start of a guy throwing stones at the police. I really liked his attitude."[11] The story was also the inspiration for the lyrics to the song of the same name.[11] The background of the piece is based on the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland; the band had visited the causeway while playing a gig at the University of Ulster in Coleraine.”

I'd heard of these guys back in the day, when they were first popular, whenever that was, but never actually heard them. I don't think they were a big thing in the States when they started. Then, couple of years back, I stumbled blindly onto a video. I was amazed, especially by Reni. I've heard Pete Townshend wanted Reni, but he respectfully declined. Ya never know when a band is just gonna click until it happens. I know, "Duh!" Strangely enough, I thought Ian B was the weakest link, but I don't think that anymore.

Whoever didn't make this an official release, "The Stone Roses: Live at Madison Square Garden NYC" with a packed house, damn near a sellout, probably 15,000+ ppl, w/EVERYONE on here commenting that it's maybe Brownie's best live singing for ages.... And it was obviously special to the band as they took that final bow, so poignant. Only mistake was stopping! They could have done similar size gigs at the LA Forum and at the Rosemont Horizon or the UIC Pavilion in Chicago. Oasis sold out the UIC Pavilion in 2005, and it holds about 10,000 ppl, so....

Tommy Swift MSG has incredible acoustics. I dont know why, maybe the architecture. Its completely round with a lower, round ceiling. I saw the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, U2 and REM at MSG and they all sounded fantastic. Why do you think these guys chose MSG as the only US gig.
did john squire dyed his hair at that time?
Whats the song in the beginning?

Ian was on for this gig

I'd heard of these guys back in the day, when they were first popular, whenever that was, but never actually heard them. I don't think they were a big thing in the States when they started. Then, couple of years back, I stumbled blindly onto a video. I was amazed, especially by Reni. I've heard Pete Townshend wanted Reni, but he respectfully declined. Ya never know when a band is just gonna click until it happens. I know, "Duh!" Strangely enough, I thought Ian B was the weakest link, but I don't think that anymore.
Brilliant performance... Camera person got it all wrong like 🙄

Creigo 10 Dude smoked about 2 packs a day for most of adult life, or so I’ve heard. Judging by the amount of smoke you can see in the lights behind Reni I think it’s fair to say he might not have had the easiest time up there.
Yes, they drink the best beer ever. "Corona" mexican beer
Fuck I should’ve went to this Show! I could have and I didn’t and I’m an asshole!!
Mani teach me
Whoever didn't make this an official release, "The Stone Roses: Live at Madison Square Garden NYC" with a packed house, damn near a sellout, probably 15,000+ ppl, w/EVERYONE on here commenting that it's maybe Brownie's best live singing for ages....
What's wrong with Ian's voice?
who the F was in control of the video?
as I said he needs echo on his mike
Seems a better vibe State side

Own Brain🐒
The guitar sounds far better now John's using a Les Paul rather than a Strat. Still wish he'd bring back the Gretsch though...
