I waited 2 YEARS for this photo!!

I head out into the Glouster tops to image the milkyway in the eastern sky and the western sky in the same night

    I did crack a couple but it was too cold 🥶 it was definitely worth it tho, such a peaceful place to sit for the night

    The opening scenes were great John those rolling hills mate are magnificent. I remember a while back you had a vlog showing how to edit and how you accentuated the line of the hills, so s this the same spot? The first image the detail is incredible both in the sky and foreground. We were out at Yenyenning Lakes and we got tons of green airglow. The second image is a bloody ripper ! Incredible, sensational and inspiring work mate.

    Thanks mate, at 40mm I normally shoot about 14 images wide and 4 rows for the sky and 1 row for the foreground, plus a few extra images to get tops of trees. So normally around 70 total images, there about

    I'm so glad I've watch so many of your videos! My 14mm manual focus switch broke when I went out and was stuck with my 50mm. I knew exactly what to do thanks to your videos and the shot came out amazing! I could have used one more row but regardless I'm so happy with it!

    Two cracking shots mate, makes me realise how much I miss areas like the Glouster tops. Quick question, now that you have got your exposures down to a minute are you still levelling the camera every second shot or can you leave it for a few more?

    It is such a beautiful spot, I think il go back a bit more. Good pick up on the levelling, I now let it go about 5-6 shots because of the exposure time

    Cheers man, yeah there is a heavy vignette at 1.4 but profile corrections take care of it pretty well

    Sky was shot at f1.4 iso 640 1 minute

    @@johnrutterphotography thanks John. So you shot wide open? How much overlap did you use? Was edge coma and vignetting a problem? Or does that get taken care of by the overlap? Or by post?

    yep wide open, I shoot with 50% overlap and vignette gets fixed in post and any Coma gets taken care of by overlap, although this lens performs extremely well wide open
