There are many non-water crabs. The Halloween crabs, or Gecarcinidae is just one of them. There are also the Sesarmidae, which are fairly small crabs that live semi-terrestrially. They spend some of their time out of the water and some of their time in the water. The Hermit crabs live out of water too, though they’re not true crabs. Edit: this comment was 3y ago. Ursula is beautiful 💖 My daughter has had a moon crab for two years and I absolutely love him. He lets you know when he wants food and is super tame - she doesn’t get him out to handle him other than when doing a water change. So anyway two days ago her and my three grandsons surprised me with a baby moon crab - the best surprise present ever. He’s already quite tame and takes food from my fingers. Who would think a crab could have its own character but they truly do. Love these little creatures and thank you for your expertise in helping people to understand the care these guys need.

This makes crabs a million times less scary for me... it's actually kinda cute 😊

I got my first Halloween crab at the boardwalk (I know it's not the best place to buy them at) and it died pretty fast, a matter of 5 months. So next year came and I decided to get another two and both of them died in about 7 months. I provided them with a dirt substrate, I heated their cage and I kept the cage humid. I would not recommend this to anyone who wants to get a "easy pet" and I would definitely not recommend this for kids. A little bit off topic but i also recently bought a Hedgehog and I would recommend them like 100000% more but they are much more work. Thanks for reading this.
