I put a qad rest and a single pin slider sight on my Bear Resurgence and it goes toe to toe with my Hoyt VTM. That being said I know quite a few budget Bear shooters using whisker biscuits and trophy ridge 4 pins that are absolute killers on the range and in the woods. No substitute for good shooting skills. I see too many new archers thinking a $500 dollar sight and $300 dollar rest on a $1500 bow is going to make up for inexperience and lack of practice.

Dude did you see Levi Morgan's video testing fletching at like 70-100 yards and hes blown away by how shooting a biscuit gives him like the same groups as a drop away 😂. If that human hooter shooter cant tell a difference......now he still says "am I gonna switch back absolutely not" but he cant give a reason why not lol. Biscuit for the win.

I shot my Bear Alaskan better then I shot my 1500 dollar indoor bow. Put some new strings on it and I might shoot that for indoor and 3D with just a longer stabilizer. Super impressed with Bear and what you get for the money.

The Alaskan is really nice. The bear strings are just a bother to try and tune right off the RIP I tell all our customers go shoot 200 arrows before you bring it back for paper tune and peep sight fine tuning cuz they just move so bad initially

@nicetryb0z0 I did and I totally agree with them. Now I hate paper tuning a whisker biscuit but I'll hunt with them without hesitation. It's an unforgiving rest. Any issue with your form, shot process, and bow tune and you'll see it magnified with a WB

0:01 I am currently shooting a Bear LS6. Kind of unforgiving but that should be expected. 5 in brace height and only 70% let off, but it is crazy fast. Major bow manufacturers all make pretty good bows, otherwise they wouldn’t stay in business very long. I have been bow hunting for 40 plus years and still love just flinging arrows in the back yard. The real reason they put the tube peep on is because they use cheap strings. It's gonna constantly move on you, skip that stab set up and spend the 150 on a good custom string and cable set up, it'll do way more for you in the long run.

  • @woodypaul_

Totally agree about "just get a bow in your hands." I bought a Bear Encounter off Craigslist for $150 with a 6 pack of arrows and a hard case. I was absolutely garbage with it, but as I shot it and got comfortable and slowly upgraded the rest, sight and added a stabilizer I'm able to hit 4/5 ten rings at 20 yards consistently through a session. Next purchase is a Bowtech SS34 though 🤙

Add bowjaxs to your string. If your peep moves, you just slide the bowjaxs a tiny amount. You can align your peep without a bow press in a couple seconds. QAD rest would be my first upgrade, too.

Loved the video, glad someone is making budget minded video reviews. Not trying to be a know it all or criticize or knit pick but have you ever tried shortening up that release a little? The draw length looks good but it looked like your release hand and elbow are back a little bit far. Just curious what that would do for your hold and consistency.

I’m the same as you when it comes to shot speed determining shot quality. I’ve noticed that the longer I take, the more I think. The more I worry about my bubble, the more I worry about my grip, the more aware I am about how I’m squeezing my release, etc My best shots are when I usually think “fuck it” and launch one in just a few seconds, but it’s a very hard mentality to recreate on demand I find.

@@TimConnor13 the shot process is always going to take longer if the release is set as cold as it goes though. I’m no pro though, maybe that’s a good video idea asking MFJJ how to improve your process and if learning to shot hotter releases would work if you stuck with it.

You don't have to make a video, but I'm curious of how much better your experience would be with a drop away, That's what I put on mine. And to me it made the biggest difference. That and stabilizer weight. I bought this bear to play with and I shoot RX7 ultra out to 40 yards. I can shoot just as good with the bear as I can. My hoyt

I can't understand that's a really good looking little compound bow but I can't understand why the consistency isnt there one way or the other you should be grouping better than that it's just like you're shooting the bow and they're all over the place like a shotgun spread I don't get it how can you sight a bow in when you can't get one Arrow to hit the same place twice
