To save yourself some energy & some ear breaking squeak-age: metal files usually only work in one direction, so going back & forth doesn't do anything like sandpaper would. Just go one direction again and again. I promise it's faster & easier.

Loooove this new series! I appreciate that you're taking time to build quality pieces that will last too. Sometimes the "designer dupe" videos have really cool looking results but I am skeptical of how well they'll actually hold up. Also cutting glass is one of my favorite things in the world. It's so satisfying... But cutting that huge mirror would have made me have a heart attack haha

Thanks. i really enjoyed the start to this series. One tip for the gold paint lovers: Traditionally gold leaf was placed over a red painted surface. If you paint gold over red, the gold feels more metallic, vibrant and real. This is especially true if you are brush painting it on. If you are going for a silver look, paint the silver over a dark cyan blue.

These are great! Re: Painting both sides of things. I love to paint sets for local, amateur productions of theater shows (back when we had theater in person) and I often get poked fun at for painting well beyond the sight lines, but I always assume it's better to be safe than sorry, especially if the set designer changes their mind halfway through a build. (To be honest, the set designer is often me, and I'm notorious for changing my mind). I love these.

🎊Congrats...you did it!🎊 💰Frankly, both the West Elm boutique & your DIY prices were more than my 💲budget💲 could stretch for decor. 🤔 Found a huge floor mirror @ a garage sale for $20, so keep your 👀eyes pealed for a bargain! It's in the shape of your first project, but it was set into a frame like your oval mirror. This one has a wide frame, but it still feels rather flimsy for the weight. 🛠One of these days, I'm gonna get an mdf or plywood piece to attach to the back for added stability😊. 💜Love💜 the metal & wood mirror. The Mod Industrial Farmhouse vibe speaks to me over 70s Boho Chic. Both mirrors turned out nicely❣

For the next one I would be very interested to see what it might cost to rent the machinery included in the final tally. I know these guys can be rented from your hardware store, I just haven’t looked deeply into them. But that would be a barrier for me and the average Jane to DIY’ing this myself, since I don’t have these things on hand. Thank you for doing these! For those of us who don’t have the space or tools to do this - for the 1st DIY you can literally just get the Ikea Hovet mirror (£90!), spray paint it black and stick two pieces of stained wood at the top and bottom... Edit: Having seen the cost now, I think I’d go Ikea even if I had the tools - it would cost a third of the third 😂 And for the Arch mirror - Zara, Dunelm and Wayfair 👌🏽

After counting all my pennies....still didn't have any way of buying spray paint. It just so happened, I inherited my Dad's tool boxes when he passed. I had a "light bulb" moment! LOL!!! He had 2 rolls of plumbers tape that were stainless steel in color & 2'' wide!!! Problem solved!!!!! I've had that "full length mirror" in my walkin closet for years now!!! For people who don't have access to a lot of tools, a studio, etc finding & buying a dupe may be a better option, so that's what I did. It was fun watching it be made though.

I have been thinking about the first mirror for months, it is pinned all over my Pinterest! I was contemplating diying my Ikea Hovet mirror to look like it because the frame of the Hovet mirror is aluminum that I spray painted black, and all I would need to do is add the wood piece to the top and bottom. I think your creation looks 1000 times better but the Ikea idea could be a more budget-friendly but lesser quality hack!

Ironically, one was a mirror. Driftwood somehow made up the frame. It was a while ago! I wouldn't personally attempt such a huge undertaking but those turned out beautifully! I bet, side by side someone couldn't spot the dupe! Some dupes are really great but differences show! Good luck finding great inspiration. I'm going to see what else ya got! LOL.

I love it! I would love to see more videos like this! I really enjoy DIY’s but don’t always need things to be made the absolute cheapest possible; quality made but don’t want to break the bank. Plus I appreciate that you explain tools in a non condescending way, making it accessible to those of us who don’t have as much experience. Thanks Danie!

I loved the first one!! And thank you for making quality dupes. So many other you tubers diy expensive things but the quality is is not nearly what my perfectionist personality could bear... Which then puts me off trying to dupe the thing myself. And thanks for the diy tips on the jigsaw blades! It's great to be able to learn actual skills and tips to help with our own projects. Love your channel!!
