It blows my mind that Magnolia had the audacity to charge $1000 for that sign!

That was my first thought too! I love Danie's more vintage version, but the original may as well be an Etsy print in an IKEA frame. Absolutely nothing wrong with that of course (I have several pieces that are exactly this) but not at that price tag.
@evilmissmunchkin
Жыл бұрын
I lost my mind at that price tag. I was thinking it through like… I could allow for like maybe $250-300 taking labor and tool costs into account and still making a profit but oNe ThOuSaNd DoLlArS????
I can’t believe you made the Phonetic Alphabet piece in one day! It looks great and I personally like the scruffy, wonky quality - it feels more vintage.

Less than one day! Even fought with my cricut for an hour because it needed a software update! 🫠 totally doable!

Totally agree. It was much more like something you might serendipitously find in an old abandoned office (e.g. telegraph) rather than something you buy new like the Magnolia one.

My firefighter husband would go crazy!
Hi Danie, I was just thinking that it might be funny if you make a video where you build the same DIY once without power tools and once with just power tools. I think the video could give a great insight into when power tools can be a time saver and when they really aren't necessary at all. Wanted to share the thought with you. Either way, thank you for your great content!
@Danajanene

That would be really cool...I don't have a lot of power tools so I would love this as well.

To expand on this doing projects that can be done without power tools necessarily as not everyone has power tools at home - so like a “power tools dupe” video using basic tools - hope this makes sense!

@@deborahthatsme makes sense to me.
My husband is retired from the military. I think he would love the phonetic alphabet. Since I never know what to get him for Christmas, it would be a great gift. I have a Cricut so that’s a plus!
Another way to make a wooden sign for cheap is to go to the IKEA as is section and look for cabinet door fronts. I’ve made a few signs with my cricut and they usually are like 5.00 or cheaper

Such a smart idea!
Love all of your pieces. Side note: plaster of Paris can stand a lot more heat than tile mortar and it might have looked closer to the look of the original. Plaster of Paris is used in metal casting, so yeah, lots of heat. I really enjoyed this video. Thank you, Dannie!!
@RebeccaTreeseed

Thanks! I have plaster of paris already :)
Can I just say, the editing on your videos is one of my favorites by far? It is just so entertaining and goofy and creative - the perfect mix for incredibly, wonderful videos!
Oh my gosh, please don’t light your candle up under these dry leaves 😱 As always your projects came out so beautifully!!! BTW, it’s not selfish when you do your stuff on your channel for your home. In my case you hit my style every time. You are a solid part of my Saturday afternoon. With a cup of coffee I search myself a cosy place and and wait for your upload.Really great stuff!!!
I hate how expensive these stores are. I would rather thrift for my decor anyway and anything I don't thrift, I tend to buy from Target, Amazon or Etsy. I also love to support small businesses in my area, little mom and pop shops that have tons of cool stuff. There's also some incredible antique malls near me in Fort Worth that are amazing. I could spend all day there!!
I love all of them but the Phonetic alphabet warms my former military heart.
You missed the labor costs! You are worth millions. Great job again!
Love them all, but the alphabet is my fave. I also like how they were all done inside your house (apart from the spray painting). It demonstrated that we don't need a workshop and all the tools to make gorgeous things. x
Love the phonetic Alphabet! The candle holder thing.... I would simply glue to ceramic bowls together with some E6000, coating it in some texture spray paint from rustoleum and you're done.
@franceshoelewyn4499

No doubt ! I wanted to know why it was so expensive 😂
LOVE the Morse Code board. I think the spacing actually adds to the antique look. A suggestion for the drink stand; one of those little marble round cheese plates that Cost Plus/World Market sells would make a good top, maybe glued to a wood disk so you had something to easily attach the leg to.

I just love how happy you are when you make fun things! Regardless of the project, it makes me happy too 😊❤
Don't take this the wrong way, but I had to restart this video twice because your voice is so soothing that I kept falling asleep. LOL! My favorite of the three was the phonetic alphabet sign.
Loved all of them. You should do more of these. They're great to watch
LOVE LOVE LOVE all, “Can I make it cheaper?” episode!!! Well, I love all episodes but these are my favorite!
I love the Phonetic Alphabet piece and the candle.
I like the design and technique used for the alphabet sign even though the content isn't something I'd display. I think the lettering looks a lot better than you gave yourself credit for!
Thank you for being honest about the real cost of these diys! Some are worth it some aren’t, that’s the reality of diy but you can’t put a price on the fun of the process!!
Such a missed opportunity on the Phonetic Alphabet piece to personalize it and put Kenobi for K as a small easter egg
H my gosh Danie every Saturday is better than the last. Then we wait …….crickets……..lol I’m so dead. I love everything whether it’s my jam or not I love it. I’m thinking the phonetic board using a piece of chalk board. I just need to cut letters etc out of the color I want and attach them. We’ll see. Never change girl your rock the DIY world.
This is my favorite series. I miss your old "I don't know what you called it" but it was under the tv in the living room.
Great work, Danie! Am I the only one who noticed that the turntable/lazy susan would have made an excellent top for the drink table?
These were all interesting and beautiful. As you were making the alphabet piece I was a little dubious about sticking down all those letters, dots, and dashes. But when you started picking them OFF! I honestly cannot think of anything I would want enough to go through the agonizing tedium! Kudos to you!
The phonetic alphabet was my favorite too! All were great though!
They all looked pretty good to me Danie. I live in the UK and am astounded by the high cost of these items, unbelievable! , but your dupes look just as good.xx
Definitely the phonetic alphabet project!👏👍😊
I love typography! The Phonetic Alphabet is my absolute favorite!!
Love these dupe projects! I have admired the phonetic board for years. I love that yours looked more vintage than the original. Great job Dani!!!
I totally wanna make that phonetic alphabet! especially with the ruffed up texture it's just amazing!
Your Phonetic Alphabet piece looks better than the original imo! I love the sanded vintage look!
Yes! I love "Can I make It for cheaper?"!
I'd love the phonetic alphabet on a chalkboard. That looks so cool.
Love that you sometimes show us how to make things using simple hand tools, like the hand saw, and items easily accessible to the masses. Thanks!
I love the candle and holder. It looks great! The table is cute too! Thank you so much for sharing. I used to do this in my life but now I’m older and disabled and in a wheelchair. Pain is just to bad to do things but I love watching you make things. My sister asked me “Doesn’t it depress you?” But I said “NO!” Just because I can’t do it doesn’t mean I’m incapable, I know I could IF I wasn’t in this much pain. So I’ll get back to it in paradise! I’m getting all these great ideas for then. 😹😹😹 Thanks again! 💝🥰🤗
Aside the fact that is not the phonetic alphabet, it's only the morse code, it's really nice. My favorite for sure was the candle and I'm going to try it!
That blonde tone is amazing on you! Love these dupes as well.
so cool to see what items you chose, how you chose to interpret them, and how funky to have such projects in your home. Inspiring as always, dear Danie. Thank you.

Thanks Judih!!! I love the art piece so much! 💜
I love them all, but I really love the wall art and the candle. I cannot believe the candle costs that much in the store. Thanks again for sharing your wonderful talent.
The first one looks WAY better than the real one. The imperfections made it look more realistic and vintage. The drink dish would of been better without the bottom tier on the top. The third one was cute and definitely a 2fer as candle and sculpture piece. I’d make that one.
Winner, winner chicken dinner on that Phonetic Alphabet art. Soooo cool.
I'm absolutely making this phonetic alphabet and Morse code piece in honor of my dad, who was Coast Guard and passed in August, as well as my partner who is an Iraqi War Army Vet. 💜
The scene with the lighted candle beneath the eucalyptus branches brings images of horrible wildfires in Portugal to mind... Eucalyptus is VERY flammable. Lovely DIYs though and I'm sure Danie is a very responsible candle-burner!! :-)
Hi! Really like little table! Maybe a faux marble look or something funky in resin? Or acrylic top in cool color! Glad to read that I wasn't the only one saying " a candle near the dried eucalyptus?"
The phonetic alphabet is something I will be trying to make my home! And the vintage texture of the piece makes it!
$1258?! Ok Magnolia, calm down! Love this series 👏 Go Danie!!!
I love the phonetic alphabet the most, but all of them are beautiful, as always!! ❤❤❤❤
That phonetic alphabet so amzing. Way cuter than the one currently in my house.
LOVE this series! 💜 And love that you always wear protection, like glasses, masks, etc. 👍
I love the phonetic alphabet piece! But I think I might actually make the candle piece. It's really cool and would make a fun gift, too.
I love all the projects you did but my favorite is the candle 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
DEFINITELY the alphabet ❤ I would LOVE to have that piece ❤
PLEASE READ, I use the dollar store clear dishes, for years and years, and I have put them in the microwave many times and 10 out of 20 times they break after a trip to the microwave!!! So please take that into consideration!!!!!! Being a candle and all! Love these episodes!
Really like the phonetic alphabet piece, but I LOVE, LOVE LOVE the table!
you are one of my favorite artists. you inspire, educate, entertain and above all else, make me smile. thank you for spreading joy!!
Love your channel Dannie, not sure why I haven't seen it before more. That candle turned out great! ❤ It's actually much cheaper than $84 if you divide the bulk products by what use actually used to make it. For the record, I will never pay $300 or $400 for a candle either. 😅
I love this version with smaller items !!!
The phonetic alphabet board 👌
Love the way the candle turned out! ❤
I think it was nice you kept in the one you didn’t make for cheaper. It’s realistic when you have a project that requires that many things to make it
Ah-Danie-move that Eucalyptus AWAY from that candle! 😮. Love the Morse code board!
When you have your bangs down you look like Goldie Hawn. Super cute.
This project rocks! The Phonetic Alphabet. The others were fun too.
Phonetic Alphabet definitely my favorite!
I absolutely love that phonetic alphabet frame! How unique!❤
Hi Danie...The alphabet was my favorite, followed by the table then the candle, exactly the way you presented them to us....Take care...
As a Canadian living in America, I laughed at your “monopoly money” comment. My husband often calls it that when we visit my “home and native land” 😅
My favorite was your recreation of the phonetic alphabet sign was fantastic. The candle holder dupe a very close second. I am going to try it with some finds from my local thrift store and plaster of paris. I love the tip to take candles and remelt them to use in something you made. Cheers! Thanks for sharing as always.
Danie, your DIY’s are always the best. So talented
This is my favorite series from yours!!!!!
The Phonetic alphabet board is my favorite!
The phonetic alphabet and morse code is FANTASTIC!!! my first time seeing one of your videos. I haven't forgotten finished it but I'm definitely subscribing!... tired of simple assembly crafts free dollar tree🙄
Late for the commentary but dare I say, I much prefer your version over Magnolia’s. Especially the price!!❤
She hasn’t come up on my feed in so many months this is Great!! I thought she was gone from you tube!
This is VERY cool! I was in the USAF and was in communications. When I was in my 20s I could rattle off those phonetics so fast. I’m 67 and I still can do that, even though I don’t use it at all. My Grandfather always wanted us to learn Morse Code but we never did. But if I had that I would probably know it pretty fast! It’s quite cool!
Dani-Dani: You are majorly fun to watch. Happy Saturday!

Ahh thank you! ❤️🥰 ✌️
Love the phonetic alphabet sign! Gorgeous. First time watching but most definitely not the last!
Love the alpha sign. My first job was making candles so this project has to be my fav
Love the phonetic alphabet piece. Stressing over the plant above the burning candle. Haha
When removing stickers, try hitting it with a hairdryer to heat up the adhesive. Makes it easier to peel them off
I loved them all. They all turned out amazing. However, my favorite is the drink table. It's not too big and it's so cute. It's still a dupe!
I have to say the art piece was my favorite it turned out gorgeous
The Phonetic Alphabet is my favorite by far. I love it. Thanks for another great video.
OMG Danie: that phonetic alphabet board is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!! I prefer yours to the original piece. Bit jealous actually...😅😅
Phonetic Alphabet was my fav ❤
Love my Saturdays with you! So inspiring!
Love all 3 DIY’s but the phonetic alphabet board is my favourite 😊
The table is my favorite.
Another candle tip Dollar General stores have really cute amber glass, jar candles in scents like “antique leather” “black sand” “setting sun” and “vanilla honey” and the jars have a black metal twist on lid so after your candle is done you can clean out the jar and have an amber glass jar with a cute lid and it’s only like $7 us … they also have soy candles for about the same price with wood lids and clear glass jars and they are a cute bubble triangular shape and about the same price $7-8 us
love this mini version! Phonetic Alphabet was my fav by far!
Use a hairdryer to take the stickers off. Just a little heat does the trick. They peel off so easily after that! ❤
I always love your DIY projects!
I loved all these projects but I think the phonetic alphabet is my favorite. My dad used to quiz us on it on long car rides so I have a big fondness for it and want to try and make one for my living room. Might finally give me the push to get a cricket too 😂
You are wise. I never remember to get the shop vac until after I sand. Then I leave a trail of debris (coming and going) going to get it. 🤦🏼♀️
This table is brilliant
The drink table is cute. For the dip down and the seam, Bondo would be a good choice
