I Tried Walking 100,000 Steps in A Day, Here's What Happened

What's going on everyone!? Today I tried walking 100,000 STEPS in a day. To put things into perspective, it is recommended that you walk 10,000 steps everyday to live a healthy/active lifestyle. So I'm walking 10 days worth in a SINGLE DAY!
I get up at 4:15am to begin this epic journey while I track it all on my apple watch as it has a great step tracker, calorie burn tracker, heart rate monitor and more.
Walking is a significantly underrated method of cardio for weight loss. It's a low impact form of cardio that people of all fitness levels can add into their routine. As you will see, walking burns A LOT of calories! I highly recommend anyone to invest into a step/ activity tracker such as a Fitbit or Apple Watch as a way of keeping your accountable, especially if you're working a desk job.
Hope you all enjoy the video! This was the hardest thing i've ever put my body through for sure :)

In Belgium they organize 'de dodentocht' every year. Roughly translated to death walk. It's 100km. You start at 20:00 and you have to finish before 20:00 the next day. So basically 100km in 24 hours. About 60 to 70% of competitors finish. The finish line opens at 07:00, that's 11 hours after the start. By then a lot of runners are there, waiting for the finish line to open. It's crazy, really. (100km is 62.14 miles, you weirdos)

I've actually taken 100,000 steps in one day. You just get used to it! Last summer I did 1.8million steps over 1 month as a part of a pilgrimage I did in Japan. For over a month I averaged 60k steps a day! It's amazing what you can see wandering 12 hours a day. For those interested, the pilgrimage is called the Shikoku Pilgrimage and a few hundred people complete the loop every year (most are retired grandmas or grandpas covering 30km a day).

The most steps I ever took in one day that I actually counted was about 31k steps and when I laid down to sleep that night, my feet throbbed, my back hurt, my legs hurt (lot of stair climbing that day but I didn't count the flights). I retired from the military and very early in my career I'd go on 7 mile runs in the morning and 4-5 mile runs in the evening so I may have surpassed that total on one of those days but had no pedometer to keep track. On the day I did 31k steps, I wasn't in decent shape, I was old enough (even then) to be your Dad, I have two herniated discs in my lower back and exertional compartment syndrome in my right leg so... walking, running and climbing stairs are always a (major) pain for me. I'm proud as hell of you for doing this. There comes a point where challeneges of any sort become a battle of wills between you and yourself, and I know that battle started early in the day for you. You won, and you should be damn proud! Thank you for making this video.

Here in Latvia we have an event each year called "Kolka-Dubulti" which is like a 117km (72 miles) walk along the coast of the Baltic sea over the period of about 36 hours. It is absolutely insane, since people walk with packed backpacks only taking small rests in between, but it was very entertaining to watch you do 80km in a more "relaxed" way. Came for the title, stayed for Kumon. Subbed.

My wife and I have been binge watching your videos ( good stuff !!). I found this video this morning and 100,000 is crazy. I get involved in step challenges at work. I try to get 30,000 a day and anything less is disappointing. The last challenge was the holiday challenge which ran for 4 weeks. My average was 33,000 a day. I had 4 - 50,000 days a few 40,000. But I ended up taking over a 1000,000 steps in 4 weeks. Nobody came close to beating or keeping up with me. But anyways we really enjoy your videos keep up the great entertaining videos .

Finishing my last 5k steps now. This man's acting at the end is legendary. He totally down played how absolutely brutal this challenge is. I'm an endurance athlete and this really messed me up. This man is a body builder, what an absolute legend.

Amazing challenge, thank you for that! Was inspired by your 25k walking, did entire week - great experience, I'm happy about almost everything except for the look of my feet. 100k is insane! Well done!

Just tried this a few days ago. Started at 3:30 am and finished at 9:30 pm. It was ridiculously hard and my knees and feet are still in pain from it, on top of this there was about an hour and a half period where my phone was not picking up any of my steps, so I think I did closer to 107 or 108 thousand steps. Luckily I did it with a group of friends so we were able to pass the time and have some fun doing it. Definitely a demanding challenge and worth a try if you are into these sort of self challenges

I walked the Camino (Spain) 600 km's in a month. You have to get your feet ready for such a walk, hardened underneath, used to the shoes (hiking boots are best for support and ankle protection) and I always wore two pairs of socks so that I didn't get blisters or tear up my feet. Yes it's good to meet challengers, but meet them prepared. Any older and you could have done a lot of damage to your body.

The most i have walked is 41,668 steps. I was in Macau with my homies. We were hiking and walking almost the entire day. Vlogging and chilling the whole time. The next day, we slept almost the entire day. It was hella fun though!
