In this video, I dive into the world of cold plunging-a practice I've embraced daily for the past year with remarkable benefits. Join me as I immerse myself in my daily cold plunge for three minutes, using this time to share the research-backed benefits of cold exposure and how it can be a transformative addition to your health routine. I'll explain how the initial shock to the system from cold plunging makes our bodies more resilient to various stresses, enhancing our ability to handle everything from cold temperatures to work-related stress.
I've personally experienced and will detail how regular cold plunging can lead to fat loss by activating brown fat, which burns calories more efficiently. It's also a potent immune booster and an effective anti-inflammatory remedy. I'll discuss the optimal timing for cold exposure (hint: it's ideally done in the morning, not post-exercise) and how it can significantly increase dopamine and norepinephrine levels, leading to improved focus and energy. Whether you have access to a cold tub or just a cold shower, I'll show you how to incorporate daily cold exposure into your routine for optimal health benefits.

    Thanks Dr. Anthony for the good video. I have been doing cold shower for an year now and has seen multiple benefits. Best is the freshness of mind and energy for first 4 hours of the day. I used to be 160-165 lbs for many years. Now, for past one year, I am maintaining a steady 150 lbs or less. Arizona water is cold only for 3-4 months and so I was using a bucket of cold water and now I have joined a health club for past two months for ice water plunge. I usually do two sessions of 5 minutes in 35-40 F water. I recently did a blood test and was amazed to see that my testosterone level went to 680 from 500 an year ago. Vitamin D, B12 levels also went closer to high limit. Even my doctor was quite surprised as I am aged 58. But, I am also doing semen retention (SR) and transmutation with Yoga Aasanas, meditation etc. and have been going for weeks and months without busting nuts. So, my improvements could be coming from both cold water therapy and SR.

    What temp is your cold tub? I’ve just started dunking in an old broken chest freezer I filled with water. It naturally went to 57 based on air temps but thinking it should be colder? Thank you!

  • @Fitfatherproject

    @Fitfatherproject

    Hey thanks for writing in! We recommend setting your temp to somewhere between 50-60F degrees to start. Over time, this can slowly be reduced but that is a good range to work with. Best of luck! -The FFP Team

    Hi there. I live in Alberta. Would sitting outside in the winter without a coat for the same 3 minutes provide a similar benefit? I would just go outside in the morning with my dog. Thanks

    Hi thanks for writing in! There is some benefit to shivering and embracing that discomfort. However, most studies from cold exposure involve water where you are directly in contact with the colder temperatures on your skin. Best of luck and thanks for watching! -The FFP Team

    Oh, for sure @rherhe2727 - That is particularly cold, so I would definitely recommend just very short times, especially when you're getting used to it. Out of interest, where are you based, and do you already do ice swimming?

    Personally, I have mine set at 45 F (7.2 C). I’ve had it as low as 39 for stretches of time… it’s definitely more physically painful at 39 which increases mental challenge but likely gives no more physical benefits than mid 40s.
