Yes very true. To be fair though, the improvement was fantastic, for only 30 days. The skill gap is just so high between a black belt who's been training for over a decade (this guy was 25 years in, right), not letting Brandon last a bit more time would've been too discouraging. I think the real test would've been going against a blue belt on day 1 and on day 30. The blue belt would've still managed (hopefully) but had to work for it a lot more, as a blue belt skill gap is not even on the same order of magnitude...

Hey great video. One thing that you probably should know though; Wilson was totally taking it easy on you when you rolled with him second time. Wilson could definitely have submitted you in less than 10 seconds again, if he tried. He was just trying to give you confidence by rolling with you longer - which worked! Anyway awesome job regardless and hope you continue training in BJJ!

100%. This is from experience. A bridge and roll won't do anything against most higher belts with the sweep he tried to pull off. I've just received my blue belt and black belts can tap me in less than 10 seconds if they wanted too! But yeah. good effort too him and hopefully he has still have kept training!

Lol i would hope that's obvious. He took it easy on him both times. A person skilled in bjj/wrestling can tap out an untrained person in like a few seconds.

@@St0rmk1ng3 I think only people that actually train BJJ know this. Essentially, the progress at the end was not real. Plus, if you only train for 30 days, what’s the point? I hope he sticks with it but better to explain the reality of BJJ to his audience rather than faking it but it’s all good. I like this guys video, he does some cool progress videos!

@@lil_siamese714 I will tell you exactly what to do. I am a san diego native surf wrestled competed in muy thai and compete in bjj. Bjj and surfing are similar some days perfect timing and rhythm other days just getting smashed learn to love it. Train with guys of all sizes and belts. Just work on your movements when you start and inverting. Find a smaller faster more technical higher belt who is patient but makes you nervous and roll open mat with him and train positions. Dont quit right now you are the fire hydrant soon you will be the dog. We just did promotions and a guy i trained with and did his first roll with we promoted to bluebelt he is a tough sob. You will get there soon 2 to 4 comps a year whether ibjjf or grappling industries. I am back from knee surgery and i will never quit i am a purple belt but if i didnt lose time with surgery who knows but love it. Good for the soul. Super tough sport like surfing will take 5 years just to get decent but worth all the sweat and blood. Good luck from San diego Aloha

@live and direct it depends. It's up to how good the gym is at cleaning, if they've had it there before, if they have a lot of visitors and so on. It's not uncomon, but I've never had it for example (knock on wood), and only know one who had it. I wouldn't let it stop me though. Stay clean, shower right after training and train at a gym where they clean the mats. Also ask people at the gym if it's something they have had a problem with. If they've had it a couple of times or recently, then consider another gym :) (btw, not a doctor! This is just based on anecdotal evidence)

What a great promo for jiu-jitsu. I am a black belt in jiu-jitsu and have a studio in North County (Vista). I am also a photographer/videographer, so I also appreciated the the video from a creative perspective as well. Keep up the great work. And if you ever need another videographer DM me.

I tried Jiu jitsu for almost 10 years. That was a long time ago. The friendships I have made have lasted to this day. I did it throughout my 20’s and picked up mountain biking in my 30’s. Never went back to bjj, but the friendships still remain and hey, I can fight! I’ve been in a couple of street fights while training in my 20’s (not proud) bar fights. I didn’t lose. I adore bjj! I recommend to all! I’m 40 now and will continue to bike, but once in awhile I go to an open mat with friends and I still hold my own for an middle age dude 😂🤙
