I Survived a Day in a Leech Infested Swamp (no food, no water)
Heavy humid heat, biting insects everywhere, thorny prickly vegetation, alligators, poisonous snakes, and LEECHES are the things we must be aware of to survive this adventure in the SWAMP.
In this video me and four friends travel together through this swamp in southern Mexico. This video is packed with lots of great survival tips using natural resources that we find along the way.

How people do things differently. Growing up in Mozambique, I learned to cut a path through cattails/ grass in swamps by chopping them from right to left and left to right, knocking them to interlocking/crisscrossed in front of you where you have to walk, building up a path. Your guides are pushing the grass and cattails away, wasting a good solid floor.

Chad that mushroom you were talking about fire tinder is a Reishi mushroom. Ganoderma spp. fantastic for infections, immune system stimulant, great for using as an antihistamine especially for seasonal allergies. A lot more as well!!
Not that it was ever bad, but the audio production in these more recent videos have reached a whole new level. I'm not sure if it's the ambience of the environment, or sound design added in, but the subtle panning and smooth level changes really creates an immersive viewing experience. As always, amazing video and such an exciting environment to explore!

@@ChadZuberAdventures How do you deal? I've had to go to the hospital for recluse bites 3 times. Not pleasant. 3 months ago I broke out with a nasty rash on my trunk and upper arms and legs. They nailed it to poison hemlock. Thats what I get for snatching wild garlic about that time in a remote area. I had shorts and flip flops on. Im still scarred from it! I got sprayed by a skunk in my own damned yard last week! I thought it was a cat! It sprayed my legs from under my steps! That oil burns and the stink is indescribable when its on your ass! I did the only thing I was told.. I put tomato juice and milk in the tub. THAT DID NOT WORK! I still stunk and my skin burning! I finally took a bath with constant hot .. very hot running water from spigot.. no plug in tub! I used ACV and Epsom salts! It finally worked! You got to get that oil off! If that didnt work.. I was about to call 911! That shit hurts and stinks beyond anything! God bless all!God bless all

Thanks for the video, it was very interesting to watch. I hate slogging through swamp land, especially in the heat. To me that is the toughest terrain, on par with deep snow and bitter cold and wind. Thanks for showing everyone that has never experienced the struggle.

OH NO! I just read your post! I hope things pick up for you!! You and John Plant are my favorite Primitive guys on KZread! You know, a lot of the smaller survivalist channels are associated with survival schools. Have you thought about getting a job with one of them, or selling your knowledge as a tutor? I would love to be able to walk out in the wilderness anywhere in the world, and be able to thrive. However, at my skill level, that would be exceedingly foolish.

Hello
Cattails have big roots and they can be eaten raw or boiled, they taste better than most wild roots and aren't as bitter, it's one of the biggest edible plant food sources here in Scandinavia.
