Lyte IS the voice of female Hip Hop. One of the most commanding voices ever (male or female). You can't deny her when she's on the mic. Her voice just grabs you. Definitely a legend.

Yes! Glad you got to this. She's got lots of good tracks... But this one captures what she was about so well. What I find interesting and appreciate about this song is how she's celebrating a group of men the media and much of society was (and unfortunately still is) demonizing. The 'War on Drugs' was taking off, so much bullshit propaganda basically. MCLyte drops this, video full of ruff looking dudes. It was quite a statement, also to other female MCs.
