I repair a Lenovo Ideapad Slim 3 backlight using the wrong part!

Ғылым және технология

In this video I stir controversy by repairing the backlight on a Lenovo Ideapad Slim 3 using the wrong part.
I question my sanity as I struggle with 2 of the ribbon cable connectors.
I criticize Lenovo over their design choices and make some bold claims about fusible links.
I find the right part a week later. 🪦
Don't be like me, buy resistor packs, have them handy and don't misplace them! 😰

Resistor and capacitor books are not that expensive. Consider when you buy certain sizes locally at a premium, the cost adds up with every project or repair. Why not just buy the whole set at once, and replace the ones you use as necessary? It just makes financial sense.

Disclaimer: I don't recommend using the wrong part. Is it going to cause problems? I doubt it. Will the laptop be better off not having a weak fuse there? Maybe... or maybe not. I may or may not have replaced that part during the come back when I fixed the audio problem. Thanks for watching my video, I hope you have a great day!

@@bogdanciacoi2643sorry for the delay, yes the wire should be OK, I have fixed iPad minis that way. Just be careful because it is really supposed to fuse to protect the laptop.

Not familiar with that problem. Try googling the specific problem, also Soren from“Electronics repair school” has some great laptop repair videos that might be worth checking out.

Definitely not a master, but I do try. Not a fan of this laptop, every brand is getting cheaper and nastier. Perhaps yours might have a faulty cable.
