Ive done a Sorin today, didnt have tools to open a samsung sandwich board and remove the short, so i just applied voltage until capacitor inside blowed up, just like sorin done with the iPhone x. Thanks

you can reset the CMOS without opening the notebook ,by pressing Windows + V keys combination

Amazing Sorin thank you once more .I repair TV's for a living. To remove a tv screen held with double sided tape from the frame using a string works only for small panels and still not 100% safe , the best way is to use a piece of very thin , strong and flexible plastic like the ones they sell bottled water, or yoghurt's in. This is from hard leaned experience.

How do you use plastics if it's a string holding the screen sir?

@@ngwanindi The screen is not held by the string but by double sided tape, the string you pull cuts through the tape and the screen is released. Same happens when you use a very thin , strong and flexible piece of plastic to cut through the tape like a knife, I've done it many times with 0% cracking the screen no matter the size.

I successfully use pieces of the black plastic that can be found under the power sources by Samsung especially, or you can also use fragments of the polarizing film under the screen, the thin white ones

😍😍OMG I just had the same issue and that was the solution! Everything was working, CPU hot, leds, caps lock. Of course when you start with "no picture" you go for the video cable on the motherboard, but that didn't do it. Only after taking out everything I stumbled into this video and gave it a try. I had the lenovo legion, they added so much glue to the bottom bezel, much more than what you had in this video. And that is what broke my screen. Then, i bought a new screen and as i was putting it in, i shorted the board by forgetting the battery was in. My IQ is at least 200.

in that cases, you MUST plug an external monitor. this way you will be sure that the main board is ok, but something is wrong with the panel, or with the connector/wires that go to the panel

@@Knebebelmeyer Never be shure 100%, easy to try. If no picture over HDMI, then knows problem is GPU not screen...Im sombody who 40 year do electronics all kind :)

Would be interested in knowing how you put it back together. Do you use hot glue for screen ? What about glue for the frame?

do not use rope string use contact cleaner spray just a little bit tiny amount it will crack the adhesive instantly and a little bit of pressure to help break the adhesive more easily but be careful of the screen getting some of it inside it from the sides

Nice... one question, in Your experience, how often is the screen cable dabaged, i.e. broken wire inside the hinge. I would expect this as main reason.

You can use the 8MM double sided tape from ifixit (Tesa 61395 Tape) It works just fine

Well done my boss sorin , please am confused about the defence between backlight and picture. In this case can i not see any light here but you are saying that the laptop has backlight. Please help me on that 🙏🙏

Sorin, this is the second time in recent you find this problem, I think that its a video card software switch stuck in HDMI mode, so the screen is turned off by default and by removing the screen and pluging it again you reset that feature. I suppose the customer use this laptop with monitor setup.

maybe you are right though he removed the screen connector from the motherboard side but still did not work.

you will have to use a double sided tape. I use it to replace frameless tv panels.

how about a laptop that working fine but not the bios it only gives a black screen with a slash on it

Lenovo V14-IGL. No backlight, no display. HDD light ON, power button light ON, charging light ON. RAM soldered (no extra slot). No signal on external monitor via hdmi. Battery disconnected and checked. CMOS battery disconnected and checked. no heat on CPU or RAM chips after being turned on for 20 mins. This laptop has no fan, only a heatpipe and Flat metal heatsink. Could the CPU be dead or should I reflow the RAM chips?

It's a common fault , when i got something like this I always wanted to open the screen first if not the connector i will start checking voltages from there and move on

Hi . Where is your shop located? is it USA. i have a Gaming Laptop , I try everything but still not charging. I even replace the battery. I try all kinds of reset and updates etc...etc... Can you help please. I have a ASUS ROG Strix GL703ge . Believe me i think i try everything that i can possibly do. i beleive is some kind of short in the motherboard.

Some modern laptops have BIOS battery installed in main battery. If you dont have a standalone bios battery and want to reset bios, just unplug main battery.
