    After watching your channel I decided to attempt a rebuild of a dual 1ohm ssa icon 15 sub. Made it a dual 4 ohm and it is even better then the icon . I did this for home use on a plate amp for theater use and it is wonderful. My very first sub build Thank you for your helpful videos

    If a small percent of people with aftermarket car audio watch car audio KZread vids, then a small percent of those watch vids for troubleshooting and research on how to diagnose their problems with their gear and decide if they are going to fix it or pay someone, then a small percent of those interested to Diy watch content of people actually explaining the process to Diy, then a small percent of those actually do the diy. Then a very small percentage of car audio enthusiasts watch vids like these just because we know what it takes to do this properly and we appreciate anyone with solid experience on the subject willing to give up their time to share their craft and passion to help others. I’m guessing the later percentage of people is extremely small, but I imagine they give the best feedback, usually watch the majority of the content and let you know when it’s a good upload. 👍🏽👍🏽 man. Solid vid. You might have just convinced me to buy some gear from you to support a fellow enthusiast. I’ll go check out the site and see what I can swing with out the wifey getting too mad on my obsession with buying more gear when......, “There’s a shit ton of it in the garage that’s doing what, ya nothing” lol. I love her Though😂

    Thanks for all of the knowledge you give out on this channel, much needed in this industry. So Sean question for ya, when it comes to adhesives and subwoofers, for the most part is it the bigger the gob the better the job or a little dab will do ya?? Within reason of course.

  • @EMFAudio

    @EMFAudio

    4 жыл бұрын

    In more cases than not, having excessive adhesive is just a waste of adhesive. I don't generally try to find how how little adhesive can be used. I make a best guess (which isn't a ton) and if there is an issue I adjust. Having enough to bond the entire surface area is my starting point.

    Can you add more magnets to make the coil taller and can adding a thicker surround and a thicker spider increase the amount of excursion the subwoofer has when building a subwoofer

  • @EMFAudio

    @EMFAudio

    4 жыл бұрын

    The coil is taller by making the coil taller, it has nothing to do with the magnets. A thicker surround and thicker (stiffer) spiders could REDUCE the amount of excursion a sub has. If the motor isn't strong enough to drive the coil for the suspension stiffness, it won't move as much.

  • @EMFAudio

    @EMFAudio

    4 жыл бұрын

    That is a long running debate. Some claim it's louder but nobody has supplied supporting evidence to prove so that I'm aware of. In the case of this sub, the owner wants to avoid breaking terminals installing it and the leads are long enough to connect to bolts inside the box. Only in the most exaggerated cases could there be some tenths to be gained, like over 20,000 watts, MIGHT gain a few tenths.

    Would a btl be half as strong as this sub? or is it just a bad design

    I don't know what the FEA analysis would look like exactly, I would think from experience that it wouldn't be half but I wouldn't rule it out. If it was in fact half, a Lowballer would be stronger.

    I don't know if there is a reason you don't use flux. I have had a good experience with Amtech flux. It makes soldering much easier!

    Tinned leads don't need it, among other reasons. Basically if it isn't needed, I don't use it.

    Same! I have two L7 solobarics 4 ohm dvc in an Isobaric configuration running 2400ish watts rms at 1ohm to them and they love it. Eventually I will want more power so I may be giving you a phone calls for some RD talk.
