If a book does not reel me in by the time I've read 50 to 100 pages of it, I stop reading it and immediately jump to the last couple of pages of the ending and move onto another book. When I was in school and was assigned required reading, I would obviously force myself to read until the end even if I found some of it boring to make sure I did the assignment correctly or to further understand the lecture. I majored in Psychology so you can imagine how much I had to read and sift through for essays and projects lol A lot of it was interesting but some of it I really felt like I was grinding my teeth all the way until the last page lol I got enough of uninteresting reading forced on me while in school so I only like to read books I actually enjoy in my free time. I hate forcing myself to hate-read a book, it makes me feel so dissatisfied at the end 😫

Lang Leav’s first two poetry collections ‘Love & Misadventure’ and ‘Lullabies’ are stunning. The poems are so tightly written, and I feel like we don’t see that as much in her later books-it’s mostly short paragraphs/stories. Definitely recommend checking those 2 out.

Now I have to read the first book. Second-hand embarrassment is one of my favourite things

The thing that’s sus about this is people who are into reading, their book collections are not full of aesthetically pleasing book covers. Like some of the ugliest books are my all time favourite - we go for quality not looks

I'm 100% sure she just bought them for decor and then realized she could read them, like every cover matches. Coincidence? I think not

You think she read them? They all looked unread to me. I had a friend like that, she had really pretty, offbeat books, but when I took them out, you could see they had never been opened.

@@thirstwithoutborders995 I have read most of the books I own, but they look brand new because books are very expensive where I live, and I wouldn't like to ruin them. Also, I hated when I was a kid and other kids asked me to borrow my books. Me, being young and dumb, shared my books with them... only to have my books returned with food stains, pages ripped, the covers all cracked, notes written all over. I just cried and vowed to never let another of my books end like that. My parents had spent lots of money (and time, because the nearest book store was 4 hours away on car) to buy me books for my brat "friends" to destroy them.

mandy98 I empathize because I did the same when I was young and couldn’t afford books except for one on birthdays and Christmas. But Kendall’s books look new because she really hasn’t read them. Not because she was careful.

I'm not one to judge for liking short books. I like short books! Thing is, along with what you're saying, kinda seems like she wants the vibe of her home to be a reader's house but she doesn't read.

You can literally see that she just picked out the nicest looking books and "casually spread them out" on her bed for the decoration HAHAHA (Omg thank you sm for all the likes HAHAH IT WASNT EVEN THAT FUNNY SO THANK YOU😃✋)

Not to rip on Kendall Jenner but yes, totally to do that: It looks like she went out and chose the books for their cover and how nice they'd look on instagram. Honestly i've lost hope as a writer but seeing what managed to get published, i really should give it another shot. As long as i have a nice cover, it seems i'm covered.

Okay, but the way Kendall Jenner displayed her books is an actual crime and the amount of anguish it caused me makes me feel like I'm the one doing the time😭

the book covers are so aesthetic lol. but I've had enough regrets choosing books by their covers in school library. so I had made a habit of reading first few chapters before getting them.

Amparo Dávila passed away last year. She was from Pinos, Zacatecas (Mexico) and was married to another famous zacatecan artist, painter Pedro Coronel. There's a national short story award in her name. Greetings from Zacatecas.

There's a word for it in English too ;). Second hand embarrasment. In Dutch we say 'plaatsvervangende schaamte'. So this isn't really a word that is typical of the German language. A lot of languages have a word for it.

Hopefully her taste is terrible, because I always end up buying a bunch of books after these videos
