I read Human Acts after J-Hope kept mentioning the date of the uprising in his lyrics and I had no idea what I was getting myself into. The final point of view broke me for good. I have no words to describe Han Kang's writing style... I wish more people took the time to read this...

If you loved ocean vyoung, then I highly highly recommend reading “the lost Arabs” by Omar sakb. His writing is similar to oceans, it’s queer too with family and religious trauma, friends and lovers, and Pretty abstract but direct and is very reminiscent of Arab culture in a way that’s accessible and beautiful. It’s a really touching book and you’ll probably feel kinda the same way you read it as you do with ocean vyuong bc that’s how I felt!

Lie with Me is a semi-autobiographical novel from the author himself. All the characters were real there except that the author gave them fictional names, but the story is a personal one. His writing in this book felt like a confession if you know what I mean.
