    PART ONE: kzread.info/dash/bejne/kaWYqtKadKeXmLg.html BIGBIGBIIIIIG SPOILERS UNDER THE JUMP . . . . So if any of you have never read SJM and don't get why the ended made me shriek, Rhysand is a character in her other series, A Court of Thorns and Roses. They're tying all the worlds together and I didn't expect it AT ALL. Also, all of SJM's end game boys have an R name, so if she pulls some weird Hunt-dies-in-the-third-book shit and then Bryce meets another mate that starts with an R who lives in another dimension I will host a book burning party lmao.

    I just finished sky and breath… I understand how Danika led a secret life and Bryce not knowing much of it at all… Bryce had to grow into who she was. She was a party girl , she drank, she did drugs, she hung out with her friends casually.. she was oblivious.. but Danika had been in law enforcement, a lot of things were confidential to keep her friends safe.. it makes sense when looking at the whole picture and who Bryce was before

    @@lorenzodefez3906it's not even that difficult to write a character smarter than you... you know the plot, what is actually happening... it's all in the Way you write your smart character. You can make them pick evidence before the others, make them make links of thoughts, make them observant to little things or to other people... you know

  • @lorenzodefez3906

    @lorenzodefez3906

    @@chiarakikimatteazzi4840 ye but that's not really being smart, just more observant. The point is you should be able to write in a logical connection for your character that YOU don't know, that's why so often authors rely on misinformation, witholding informations or a sudden illuminations where randomly split facts connect together at one random point (think Jude realizing who Oak is in Cruel Prince or Io realizing what happened in the Fury-born in Threads that Bind). The kicker is usually they have no wisdom to impart to others, they just "get" things when the plot needs to unravel and make no further use of said intelligence

    Would it be more or less comforting to learn that it’s even more painfully obvious in the narrative? There was quite literally no one else who it could be. Which was also my prevailing thought about Micah being Danika’s (proxy) killer in CC1. Sarah is good at some things, but mysteries are far from one of them. When Bryce just solved Emile’s disappearance offscreen, I howled. Actually begging SJM to read a single mystery book in her life.

    As someone who did not read ACOTAR beyond the first book because good lord I couldn't... imagine my face when after giving SJM another chance with CC (and loving the first book enough for 4.5 stars) only to get through 1600 pages to book 2, to read "I'm Rhysand". (Thank god I had already watched all your ACOTAR synopsis vids). This book was painful and not in the good way. Ruhn really said "let me carry this whole 800 page book on my back". The way I'm dreading book 3.

    My only understanding of the Sarah J Maasiverse is your and Cindy's videos. I don't have the patience to read a series of 800-page, strangely horny books, but witnessing KZreadrs slowly lose their grip on reality while recounting them is immensely educational and entertaining. SPOILERS The last book was pretty all over the place, but this one is... even more so. The sheer VOLUME of magical creatures and characters you're expected to keep track of (it feels like a crossover fanfiction where the writer is mashing together a lot of fandoms). The modern technology which still feels really out of place. The SUBMARINES. The YA dystopia subplot. Everyone still going to work in the middle of this. The fact that Danika died in like chapter one of the first book but is still the most important character. The fact that we have solved Danika's murder THREE SEPARATE TIMES (Danika killed herself, no really Micah killed her, no really the Asteri influenced him to kill her...) The flirtatious dragon which was presumably inspired by Shrek. The main character just taking a backseat in the final act. No one ever seeming to go through any kind of character development, except being angry at someone else and then not. Declan the unpaid intern doing everyone's donkey work. Also, when I watched your first video I didn't really understand the 'first light' donation properly - I thought that they had to give a bit of the power to the Asteri, seeing as they are the overlords, so that whole plot twist was completely lost on me lol. I totally didn't realise the Asteri were lying about it and said the power was for the city... The inclusion of Rhysand makes me hope we can collectively force Cindy to suffer through book 3.

While, from the end of the book, it’s clear that the Fae of this book are clearly from the ACOTAR world but the shifters… they’re from the TOG series because they used to be Fae that turned into animals and the Fae in that series all have an animal counterpart (Rowan as the hawk, Aelin’s being a human) so she’s fully encompassed all of her books. When I thought about all that, I lost it and stared into the abyss for a solid hour.

    I've read the first two ToG books, the ACOTAR trilogy (I got 100 pages into the 4th book and was just so disgusted, I had to dnf), and I tried to read the first Crescent City book. It's fascinating how instead of developing and improving as an author, Maas just continues to throw every bad trope and/or plotline she can think of at her readers and she's still somehow so many people's favorite. I'm pretty sure she's also either refused any type of editing, or her editor just doesn't care about anything anymore. Messy plots, convenient clues, toxic relationships, lack of actual nuance, characters that are literally cardboard cutouts of EACH OTHER... this feels more like YA than her previous series. And the whole multiverse thing is giving me a headache just thinking about it. All that aside, I'm so grateful for these videos! You really explained everything so well, and that's an achievement seeing as these books read like a fever dream. Can't wait for the next video!

    Im an audiobook listener of SJM and I appreciate just how chaotic everyone thought this book was! I’ve actually listened to it 2-3 times now and just NOW am getting a grasp on it. I like CC better than the other two series. I’m registering to TOG and I’m so ready for it to be over. SJM does seem to repeat the same themes over and over again (everyone is mates and in love and horny despite going through like war and strife). I am now CONVINCED Lorcan and Hunt are of the same though. Idk. I cannot relisten to ACOTAR…. If I have to hear Elizabeth Arden say “incarnate” one more time… it’s SJM’s favorite descriptor word and she’s still using it nearly a year later. I do like the stories but the older, wiser I get the less tolerance I have for all the meaningless romance and whatever. It’s like in Outlander where the main couple keep having sex and it’s like, seriously can we just fast forward this part. Anyways, a rant lol.

    And the word "gilded" is in every book, multiple times, and by book I mean every series and book she wrote. Gilded gilded gilded is now the word I hate the most 😂

    When you said “we’re only halfway through”, I like physically collapsed of exhaustion, because I got really used to reading 300-400 page books, and this is just insanity.

    I cannot believe that SJM has the audacity to do this to us, I was thinking in the first book 'why do a lot of these characters just feel like she has hit copy and paste?' Also, where was Syrinx???? This plot is so convoluted yet, I have read every other one of SJM's books so it actually feels a little predictable? Cari, you are an angel for making this, a true piece of art. Can't wait for book 3....

    I physically can't read SJM anymore. I gave up on her at Court of silver flames. So, thank you for this video! The way I cursed when you said Rhysand. LMAO
