Getting rid of that factory down pipe will infact make a difference in turbo spooling. It’s basically a 3”x1” rectangle from factory. Get the 3” down pipe and it makes a big difference

You can also go 4" it's a bitch and the firewall take a saw zaw and some hammer work and about 4 hours of time but a 4in can fit. And talk about a whistle rumble. Be loader than you can think. Cab drone like a bitch when towing to had it on my 97 f350. A cab lift will make life SOOOO much easier

Definitely gotta get a better downpipe on that rig. The factory downpipe on the obs powerstrokes are extremely restrictive!

when I talked to Diamond eye they said that unless your running high horsepower the 5 is only a sound thing. 3" down pipe is a must. that is the restrictive part, not enough room to go bigger because of firewall clearance.

You can fit a 4” it’s your heat shielding that gives you issues but you use heavy persuasion aka hammer it fits just gotta get a 6.0 down pipe cut the turbo mount flange off it take a 7.3 turbo flange welding it together

Obs 7.3s pstrokes had a very restrictive downpipe (often referred to as "the pancake"). Cut that shit out and do a proper 4" downpipe. Itll drop turbo back pressure greatly and youll make more power with less boost and fuel.

Honestly down pipe and up pipes made a huge sound difference with already having exhaust

Make sure you do the 3 inch down pipe as well. He fucked up by not doing it

Sweet!! I like the 6.0 sound the best as well. The coolest truck I’ve ever heard was on a road trip when a guy with a 6.0 and a 9 blade turbo pulled up to the pumps when I stopped at a Bucees on a roadtrip to Florida lol.

Do a bed stack thing will scream that’s what I had on mine and absolutely ripped

3 inch downpipe, to 5 inch, 5 inch to 8 inch cat stack welded under truck pointed to the floor right before rear axle. I have same setup as about except 4in to 6 cat stack from Amazon. Sounds way louder, deeper, than the bed stack on it before

7.3 still sounds the best in my opinion

The 7.3 sounds best for exhaust chop. The 6.0 sounds best for the loud turbo And the 6.7 sounds best for a perfect mixture of both. A Ford excursion would be a great addition the the powerstroke family. Have fun building the 7.3, l know it will look good. Obs trucks are beautiful.

Put a tip on the 6.0 youll get more sound more sound more of the growl, still definitely the best tho. And the 7.3 down pipes on the obs trucks are rectangle piles of junk definitely makes a difference. Keep up the good content

Your buddy got scammed no stock 6.4 engine is worth even near 20 grand

VGT trucks will always sound better than non VGT trucks. Except for the 5.9 Cummins. Nothing beats that.

Didn’t notice a huge difference between the 7.3 straight piped vs stock because it was a pre emissions truck so it doesn’t have dpf filter or egr like the 6.0

It doesn’t sound as loud because you still have the factory cobra head down pipe. Get rid of it and she’ll scream

6.4 sounds great, and if you run a single non-VGT on a 6.4, sounds like a 6.0 on a non-VGT kit. Just 6.4 pistons like going out for milk and never coming back.

Regen is what cracks them. Delete it and put a mild tune on it. It’ll be fine. Got 243k on my stock pistons

I want to ride in your 7.3 and 6.7 because my 6.7 inside is like 1/10th of the noise compared to my 7.3 haha. Also isn’t the 7.3 the only one where you can truly notice a difference with a straight pipe due to the cobra down pipe?

Your thought about trying water methanol or ethanol injection in your diesel.

7.3s in general are always pretty quiet on the exhaust side. Ive never seen one loud like a 6.0 or 6.7. Just the nature of the motor.

They have a kit for the 1993 but the kit is only from 1994-97

Put in a 4inch down pipe and replace the cobra neck. It’s hard to do but it will barely fit
