I like that this is our world champion, someone with a good sense of humor and who is not so serious, he even makes jokes in the middle of the game, he completely breaks the stereotype of a calm chess player who just spends his time in silence studying

First, Carlsen should not have been tapping the metal table which is distracting to the opponent. Second, this just proves Fischer was right about how classic chess is too much about memorization. I call it "memorization through familiarization"!
I love how he broke into smiles whenever Anna made things challenging for him. He loved to face a serious opponent.

He had brushed her of as just some chess-influencer and by move three he realises that "her chess" is based in hard knowledge and lots of playtime. Almost as if she grew up with someone who was alright at chess.🤔 Maybe Magnus follows Anna on TikTok or maybe when they met last, he brushed her of ass just some groupie, and she got to show him that's she's not just a pretty face? If you know some opening theory in these kind of positions, you're most likely a good player. I don't see many unexperienced players who know theory in the Catalan. It's not the london system XD.

It was fun to see Magnus surprised a few times! Once he decided you had the skillz, he totally changed; you could see it in his face. He set a trap for several of your pieces all the while somehow managing to get into a winning position with significantly less advantage in pieces. Super fun to watch! I bet it feels good just to have SURPRISED him!

"managing to get into a winning position with significantly less advantage in pieces"... WHERE do you see "less advantage" in pieces?? She was out of the book from move 6 (this is the Catalan Opening), and Magnus had very good advantage positionally, all the game.

I appreciate your knowledge of the game and what openings are called etc. My comment is merely based on the "points" values assigned to pieces and at one point she had an advantage in piece point value. Maybe he wasn't surprised; maybe he was just amused. I noticed his reaction to what she did a few times. What it means is subjective without asking him. Regardless, he is a gracious player.

Anna is such a terrific chess player she doesn’t even have to set her purse down. and i absolutely love her laugh.

Just look it up in Wikipedia and then download an app. I "fool around" with it every day, it's good for the brain, even if you suck at it, lol. (Set it on a low level and it'll be fun.)
I would dare to say, that he actually enjoyed himself playing against you. I saw him express many emotions during that game. You played well.

I just recently started watching a bit of chess and yet have to even figure out the basic rules. But I like that the best player in the world seems to be very approachable. Humble norwegian dude seems like!

Trust me I don’t to but whenever I predict a move I feel so proud. Doesn’t happen a lot but happens enough to keep me happy and engaged lol.

I love how Magnus literally gives her the best move my saying play bishop b5 because from that position she can bishop A3 to defend the outpost for the knight which he would respond with blocking with his pawn which gives her a pawn on the bishop b5 square. What a champ literally teaching while beating someone in chess.

That's one strange observation. I think many super GMs are chill and seem like very nice guys. Anish, Anand, Lê Quang Liêm, Praggnanandhaa and Mamedyarov to name a few. Magnus is chill too though.

She played really well.. at first magnus did not take it seriously but after sometime magnus realised that it would not be a silly game. So he focused properly

3:22 “I’m gonna try to win on time” seconds later Magnus: “tactics look for tactics” (Magnus’ tactic there was to stall her so she’d lose time so he could actually have a chance to win on time.) Brilliant!

Not really there was a tatic there which Magnus wanted Anna to find. He is one of the greatest players of all time so doesn't need silly tricks like that to win.
I love that you were starstruck at first and soon after the game starts it's just two people speaking the chess language and having fun. Good game!

@@jimbowardoable Most good chess openings have names. Some openings are more attacking than others. The Catalan is a sharp and dynamic opening and fun to play. Some continuations require deeper study - “theoretical” in this sense means deeply studied. She’s worried that he is playing a continuation she is unfamiliar with. 👍
I can not remember to have ever seen Magnus so nice and friendly and helping with his opponent. That was the softest fight I have ever seen.

That's not what happened at 3:27. Magnus had just blundered. If you look at the eval bar, it was the only time she actually had the upper hand, and if played the rest of the game with accuracy could've beaten Magnus.

I decided to see what Magnus meant when he said tactics so I put the board position in a chess engine and the move was knight captures pawn and gave black a 6.29 advantage at 19 ply
