The REAL Difference Between Grandmasters In Chess

Ойындар

In this video my mom GM Pia Cramling and my dad Juan Manuel Bellon Lopez played out the exact same position to show people the difference between how grandmasters think in chess depending on their style. The position was from a Magnus Carlsen game. Hope you enjoy :)

Well done Anna, you always do a great job and make the videos fun. How good is it to have two wonderful parents at your side who are happy to help you any way they can 😀. We're helping our son with his online business and its an honour for us and a source of shared purpose in our family. As a parent only one thing is more rewarding than watching your child succeed and that is watching them be a great person. Your parents would be proud on all fronts, keep up the good work.

it would make very good series of videos if you could get you GM mom to analyse a given set of positions - and her next move. Her assessment of position is very instructive. As regards your father if you could match him against Rosen and see who could stalemate the other first 😂

you have such wonderfull parents. Both completely different in their personality but asbolutely nice people. I liked how your father was so much more imulsive while your mother was calculating every move. Very nice video and I love the chemistry between you and your parents. subbed Edit: I feel like a total tool but why does the engine offer a draw when there's only on white king while there's a king, a queen, a knight and several pawns for black?

  • @RoseColoredIris

I was confused the first time it happened to me too. It's because white has no legal move. You are not allowed to move your king into check. So Juan put his king into a position that would result in a check if it moved and then forced the engine to take his last two pieces. Thus resulting in a stalemate.

In chess the rule is that if you don't have a legal move left (or only repeating ones) you draw. Anna's dad basically put himself in a position where had no legal moves so it was an automatic draw.

The look on your dad’s face when you told him he doesn’t have to win because your mom won! I really enjoyed this. I would love to see each other’s reactions to how their games were played out. I think your dad got a little too obsessed with pushing the pawn and lost too much material in the process. Genius recovery though!
