    The top players know every structure inside and out bc you have to beat the birds and grobs and benko when climbing the ladder bc they get used as surprise weapons.

    Thats absolutely the most impressive part. He’s blitzing out moves that are just *squeezing* the life out of Eric. Every move felt like a boa constrictor tightening and hes not tween thinking about it. Might be drunk lol

    That was fun to watch. Kinda like watching a boa constrictor slowly strangle its prey. All you can do is see how long you can last. This is a feeling I am very familiar with. But like a broken watch (which has the correct time twice a day) I occasionally make a right move. Thanks for sharing.

    Carlsen's great skill is that he can get anyone out of preparation (with non-theoretical lines) so that he can play actual chess where memory doesn't matter but only creativity, in which positions he thrives. He played 30) Rf8 in just one second which is inspiring by all means!

    He most likely calculated those moves a long time ago. Your thinking time doesn't start when it is your turn, when Eric spends more time, he can calculate, too. And I think this was always be in the position should the bishop move away from e7. For me the most impressing move was 25) Rf7, this is what made all of that possible. I would probably just have doubled up rooks.

    then why in classical 9LX did wesley so beat magnus 13.5-2.5 including 3x classical games in a row (something that didn't happen in world chess championships since 2000 vishy vs alexei and 1993 anatoly vs jan) ? and why in rapid 9LX did nepo beat magnus 3-1 and thus hikaru, who beat nepo (edit: essentially tied with Nepo but whatever), indirectly beat magnus 3-1 ?

    @@nicbentulan By your logic since I've won against someone who once beat a CM on a good day, and that CM beat a FM on a good day, and that FM beat an IM on a good day, and that IM beat a GM on a good day, and that GM beat a super GM on a good day, and that super GM beat Magnus on a good day. Therefore I have indirectly won against Magnus Carlsen.

    That was awesome to watch!!!! I was wondering if Magnus would use the revealed check and found that he did.... I probably would have spent ages of time to find a way to free the pawn for revealed check but Magnus didn't need to since Eric moved his bishop 😅 imagine being as good as Eric but having to play Magnus Carlson regularly 🤦🤦🤦🤦😭😭😭

    Out of curiosity why are you supposed to trade the light squared bishop there? The computer like the idea and gave the move an ! (granted I'm honestly not sure where you'd put it after h3 anyway) so clearly it is correct but it seems like it would be a very valuable piece when white is playing for the dark squares.

    When you beat the best, you kinda’ lose motivation to keep going.. hence, Magnus quit. I have noticed that when you play super GM’s, you seem to be getting into serious time trouble from early on in the game, as if you prioritize accuracy over time management. Particularly for blitz, not sure if that is a good strategy.. 😅

    25. ...a5 You left your king without luft. You'd be okay weakening the king's squares, because his pawn structure and piece placement make a kingside attack impossible. After a5, you probably find a draw; he'll have to trade down to stop your attack.
