There’s a world of difference between selling a broken item for parts and an item that has 50% of its major parts missing.
Joblot on eBay always means "I've taken everything nice and useful from this console and now I'm selling this shite husk of a system on to screw someone" it Might be annoying losing some money on the console but I'm always amazed that techs like yourself can take a piece of e-waste garbage and restore it back into a working console. That's really nice to see and way beyond anything that I could ever do. Hopefully, the video will claw back some of your losses but either way always great to see a machine saved.

There's 2 ways of looking at the seller. Maybe they did buy some machines in an auction or something and realised that didn't work or, like you suggest, they used it to fix the other ones and decided to sell it as not working properly (which I think has probably happened). I admire you being able to fix them because I wouldn't have a clue with some things and to be honest, whilst I do like taking things apart, if it's very complicated, I usually end up with one or two screws left over lol, so I don't usually bother. Thanks for this video, I enjoy watching them :)
Awesome work man. You are such a skilled guy. Keep it up!
Definitely a labour of love that one Phil. Great fix as always bud.

wow that thing was a hot mess lol nice work man i love your videos i have been binge watching them the last few days and im addicted keep up the great content man!!
Was rooting for you all the way through that one. Message the seller and atleast ask for the screws :) maybe one day the key will open something truly profitable. Well done !
I did something similar not long ago. Bought a lot of 3 consoles, two S and one X. I shouldn't have bought a lot anyway because they are never good. When I got them, they were carefully "put together" to look like a complete console. Two of them had less than half the screws (in bags), one didn't even have the X clamp. I'm usually pretty good about weeding out the eBay scammers but this one got me. I learned my lesson! I am still excited to see if I can get them running. Just more challenging.

They get us all mate, don't feel bad about it. It happens to the best of us. I actually bought a bunch of 4 one x consoles the other day, I won't say much because I have a video coming for them but they were actually genuinely listed which was nice to see
Great video hope you get a bit profit on it. It's a shame when a lot of work goes into something when you know it's barely going to return even
Excellent repair job!
Enjoyed the video, and watched till the end
May I suggest you use guitar picks to open consoles? You can get a pack of 25 with 4 different thicknesses for less than 5 quids and they even come in a metal box. Less chances to scratch/damage plastics. Also you should report the seller. 🙂
New sub here, I could watch your videos for hours!
Looks like someone with small kids owned it at one point and they posted a few things in the slot. Even though you lost out a bit on the money front, it made for some great content. Keep it up Phil, it's great to watch you bring these devices back from the brink.

Yeah I was thinking the same mate, definitely a kid. You're right there, sometimes giving up a little money at least makes for good content and I'll make it back on the video revenue so it's not too bad
The Cod3r doesn't lose.
Hard to find honest sellers these days, If I'm looking for things on eBay these days I check their other listings and history to make sure it's not some dodgy repair shop flogging off their failed attempts, then I check recent sales prices for my area and then costs of parts to perform the repair if the issue is known then I set myself a max bid price taking into account costs and postage to leave a bit of head room. Great watch anyway 👌 thanks again for sharing!

I think you are a Very Good Tech. Wish i had half your knowledge. Love your videos.
Years ago I dropped my keys walking to the parking lot, when picking them up I saw what looked like my apt key laying next to them, picked it up thinking my key had came off, got back home from the store opened my apt with the key, later that night I was going to put it back on the key ring only to find my key was still there, eventually found out it opened the door knob lock on the 40 apts in the complex. I havent lived there in many years but still think I have the key.
Good video mate, glad to see the end result, would definitely go with a Neutral, I tend to save my Negatives for things that are miss sold and unrepairable, rather than just miss sold, but personal preference of course :)
@TheCod3r

Feedback tends to be a hostage situation were sellers don't leave feedback untill you have which never made sense to me, if I pay quickly then as a buyer I've done my part and then can leave my honest opinion of the seller.

@@TheCod3r I have to, although the other way round, checking low feedback buyers to see if they’ve just left loads of negs for sellers. It’s amazing how many things don’t turn up for sub-50 feedback users, tend to find these are cheeky scammers. Ebays still a better place to sell than Amazon though 😳 That was a seriously bad console though, so much work needed to be done, genuinely happy to see it revived, even if it’s not a money spinner, you’ve saved it from landfill 👍

@@tk2097 I've got a business account on there, as soon as a buyer pays, auto feedback is left, as you say, the buyer has done their part, if there is a problem, well, you get the feedback you deserve. Look on the bright side: *that’s one more console kept away from the landfill.*
Missing power port and no history would be a red flag for me, definitely a brave buy but made for a good video. Have a look what the seller trades, may give you a clue on their honesty. Surprising how robust these consoles are with a little tlc.
Just one of them with eBay you never know what to believe with sellers on there.
Seller realy did that. Owsh. He knew it was like that.
That was a lot of hard work and a very interesting watch. I tend to err on the side of an innocent (dumb?) seller having been scammed themselves having bought a poorly repaired unit. Hope the next one is a bit more straightforward. Keep up the great work 😀👍

love it, mate. You never gave up on that console from start to finish but that HDMI port repair by who ever had the console before, was just dire and shocking repair work. You are the man though.
Nice video man! Can't believe you were able to fix this peace of junk and turn it into a fine working console again! I have one question tho, did the chip you replaced make a difference cause it was a chip for the one x so it's technically more powerful? I don't have much knowledge about it so i was wondering!
@TheCod3r

I have Xbox one without disc drive , if there is any hope to do the update ? Can change the processor or something?
That disk drive with sharpie letters s.p could mean alot of things but to me spear part lol
What can cause it to turn itself off with the turn off chime after 8-10 seconds after I turn it on ? Already swapped the HDD and power brick.
Funny enough, I have an Xbox One S with the same issue. The display occassionally flickers on and off. It was a lot worse with major artifacting but after cleaning it that is more or less gone (with some minor). Thankfully it was cheap anyway

Its what is known as a frankenstine build, I bought a nintendo switch made up of loads of switches. Its all parts that are left over from fixing other consoles hence frankenstien lol.

Got an Xbox one s from a pawn shop along with 3 ps4s opened the Xbox and someone had to have stomped on it with their foot. Fan was crushed along with a lot of screw downs for the lack of a better name. As far as I've gotten so for too busy to do any more right now. Oh yeah I only paid $1 for each. my son has way more time so took two ps4s and combined them to get one working so he could turn it into a game emulator.

Ebay used to be such a reliable place to buy parts, I got scammed with the cheap 1TB SSD when in fact they are whole lot smaller scam luckily got my pennies back but its frustrating when people can be so dishonest. I build PCs for people and especially in the current climate you just can't believe what anyone says when it comes to much prized items like graphics cards. Love the videos as electronics on your level is way above me but makes for a very good watch. Thay sucks sorry to hear mate. I have a little idea for you though to combat those scammers. Buy their fake drives, they're basically smaller drives with hacked firmware. Then open a dispute as soon as you receive it, get your money back and you get to keep the drive. You can usually find the firmware to restore it or just use it as a little USB drive for storing smaller files that hold no importance. If everyone did this it would put them out of business
@ys053rious6

@@TheCod3r Yeah I didn't know of the scam until hit me, I was refunded in full and like you said got to keep the drive, I knew there was something wrong when the disk was 100% usage all the time which didn't make any sense, I watched a video then realised it was probably only a 64gb drive. Back in the early Xbox 360 days of buying spares or repair or faulty units becomes clear in description and sellers history etc etc. You mostly want genuine sealed units. As soon as there touched leave it. Plus genuine sellers become easier to spot. Sounds like you're a bit short in experience with this part of the game.
yeah that's someone trying to recover their losses from a failed repair attempt worse part is for 60 that's still not a bad deal for what a broken one s goes for there are usually between 50 to 90 around here is what is messed up he could have been honest and still of made close to the same amount cause even just motherboard and DVD board go for around 45 and a lot of time its a no power board witch id rather have these faults than that lol good video tho
