You are a master! Such delicate work made to look easy. Well done mate!
Hey Phil, you are amazing man. Thanks for the great video. Just subbed about a week ago and am absolutely loving it.
50:13 The thermal pad you thought you lost, was actually stuck on the chip itself. Great skills man. And also, this PS4 defied the laws of science. It would be illegal to still turn on after so much corrosion. This little bastard has the will to live.
Absolutely nice work! I definitely enjoy these kind of TTR videos!
Wow thats incredible its been left out in the rain and trashed and you fixed it i wouldnt have the patience or skill to do all the retracing for the hdmi port what a great fix keep up the grear work

great repair Phil!!
such a solder wizard man. awesome!!
Nice find. I never find consoles or anything salvageable. I was just watching another channel who restores stuff and he always finds consoles just lying by the side of the road. They're a bit muddy but usually just a quick scrub in a bucket and they're working like new again. I think he's in Asia or somewhere.

You need fine tip soldering iron for those tiny traces on the HDMI connector. I do some electronics work but i avoid surface mount because i think it's junk. Tried to fix a flatscreen TV but I couldn't fix it so I just made a light out of it.

@@TheCod3r this one they seemed to have spilled a soda on it or something and literally yanked it from the power cord. I've since replaced the power port but have been unsure as to why it won't power on. I checked traces and saw no damage but it illudes me. Maybe the soda killed other parts or something I'm missing. Still new to diagnosis stuff but have been working on soldering as of late

Damn nice job!
I work at an e-waste place and have found a few consoles. mostly ps2's and 360s. A lot of the 360s have bad gpus but the majority of the other consoles are fixable or just work fine
When i was teaching guys to do this many moons ago. I would always tell them to work from left to right if they were right handed. Also i would do pre-redesigned motherboards so maybe two three hundred traces. And it had to be very neat. I would use wire wrap wire which had ptfe coating. 240 pin ic half mil pitch, wires going everywhere. But we had to loom the wires glue the harness to the board. At the beginning these would go out as final product for that version run. One board would take me two to three days. Look beautiful in its own way.

@@TheCod3r mate I purchased a broken switch with two joycons off eBay for £77( no power), then I noticed the sellers name was danks, so my heart sank. but the console came, and it turned out it just needed charging for around 20mins. and there was a copy of FIFA 20 in the reader. and mario kart 8 as a download Asked the seller, what's suppose to be wrong with it, and she said her daughter said, it's not turning on. but it was, it was just showing the battery icon.

Just goes to show what stuff can still be fixed!!! I hope i can get my titanium blue controller working again sometime. Probably needs a board swap for me but you would probably be able to replace a burnt out charging chip on the main board. The daughter board with the usb port still works though on a different controller. So sad my new powerbank decided to give it too much😅
@TheCod3r
2 жыл бұрын
To be honest it definitely would work out cheaper to do a board swap. The repair itself you would need to factor in parts and labour and then shipping costs too, but new boards can be purchased fairly cheap online. Sucks but thats the problem with controllers, it's impossible to make it a financially viable repair

Can u tell me,what has to happen to board so u can call it donor board and why they not repairable? These boards was looking better then this one..Its shorted between layers or what happend to them?
@TheCod3r

Usually the apu is dead or the renensas chips have failed so they're either not worth fixing or impossible to fix because the component which fails is linked to the rest of the board
Now I'm watching your video late but I did catch something that you said and what that was was I guess you were getting ready to solder the legs on and he said the bigger the tip come on man no joke about that's what she said you didn't even have to go in a detail on anything else but that you left that wide open
This is abit over board with size ........ u can use it for a sunbed

If it's the 1200 series (the one with the physical button instead of the touch sensor) it could be that the button is damaged. They're really easy to replace (a few screws). If not it's honestly hard to say without seeing it in person
