I think Mallorca got those alliances via independence support, because there is no way that Russia would ally Mallorca otherwise.

This part felt like a sitcom. The Ottomans act like the jealous ex, Jaunpur like the toxic partner, and Shewa/Syria are the best friends. Also Mallorca did a Bismarck move "Ally every great power and form a net of alliances", pretty smart 😄 See you next time!

Honestly, I really enjoyed this series, it was truly realistic from a normal player's RNG point of view. For once I feel that the game's non-streamer, real, full bs was exposed and I loved it. Looking for more :)

Hey again Laith! Last update for me about my Najd run you inspired me to try! Took me to the 1750’s but I finally got all the provinces. Turns out forming Arabia doesn’t void the achievement either. Wish I knew that 3-4 hours ago. Had to kill the Ottomans after they betrayed me too (100 trust and favors but they decided that I was evil, or something) so it didn’t end as well as it began. Anyways, glad you’ve stuck it out!

The worst issue with najd is the manpower, luckily in this patch you can abuse the interaction between slacken recruitment standard and negative piety interaction to instantly get back most (if not all) your manpower for 1% profesionnalism. Najd get everything to go for legalism but having ulema in gob and losing 1 stab is worth it for infinite manpower

It made me sad that you didnt give shirvan's old capital back to them.

I feel like you're very much underestimating the power of drilled armies, drilling your armies can massively reduce damage received and also make them capable of doing more damage, you can win against otherwise totally equal enemies if you have more drill and AI does drill their armies

I have started same campaign last week and just saw your Najd series. Man it feels so good to know someone can understand your pain. I spent 4 days and about 40 whole new runs to get to 1500 without dying and uniting peninsula on VH. This is absolutely not fun campaign but it has something that just makes you go back to it

I get how you feel about the Ottomans. In my Persia game (long before the DLC though) we were allied to each other but they also wanted my land. And I was far weaker than them, despite having a lot more dev. They just had so much more troops than my own force limit allowed.

Laith always says its a pain to play this campaign but we all know deep down he loves it

Quality was the way to go, quality + economic give 5 discipline plus 5 from quality plus infantry combat ability and importantly, artilery combat ability.

He is entitled to play the game as he wishes, but I had a hard time seeing him pick first defensive, then quantity over quality or offensive and then choosing offensive over quality when he already picked up economic.

AI subjects always guaranteeing Dhimhi Autonomy as Islamic faith, or Guaranteeing Orthodox Autonomy as Catholic is probably the feature I hate most in the game. It really should be changed such that subjects can only issue those estate privleges if and only if their overlord has them issued

Day 180 of asking for an Oranje Free State Playthrough of Vicky 3...It's surprising how long it's been now in retrospect.

So fun fact, I am playing a najd game, well Arabia game now, you can get the achievement for najd if you form Arabia, I got it tonight as Arabia, you should form Arabia as your mission tree locks up until you do. If you do not believe me make a backup save, check the achievement reqs in game, form Arabia, then recheck, you will so no change meaning it still counts you as najd. The wiki and achievement text need to be updated to say start as najd. That said, I don't know if you can form another tag other than Arabia, haven't tried and now can't test it anyways do to getting it as Arabia
