Such deep seeded issues at an early age. I really feel for Paul, but I am beyond impressed that he listened to his sponsor and turned his life around. This is definitely a story everyone should be made aware of proving that recovery is always possible and within reach.

Wow! This is really a story, i am just trying to imagine how tiring it would have been moving from one treatment center to another. It is a good thing you finally got yourself the needed treatment. Wishing you the best going forward.

I like his starting statement, quite emotional and teary... When one thinks back to the days when one will subconsciously hurt ones beloved cause of something that can be prevented at the first place, will make one feel really bad. This is one point watchword that people should look out for and keep themselves away from the calling for drugs. It hurts!.

This is too emotional for me. At such a tender age. Staying away from your family is so difficult. But all in all, it's a testament that recovery is possible and realistic. Paul, you are a strong man and there's much out there for you.

This story of drug addiction from Paul is indeed disturbing and worrisome. As a matter of fact, abandoning one's family has aggravated the situation. Addictions of any form should be avoided for a healthy living.

Thank God for family! If it wasn’t for my family (my husband), I would most likely be dead. I went into rehab to save my marriage, but I stayed in rehab to save my life! While I was there I became sick. I was born with a very rare disease and I was having an episode! The rehab director wanted to release me, but I refused to leave, I told the director that if I got worse, I would agree to go see my primary doctor and if he wanted me in the hospital, then I’d go. Two days before I was going to graduate from the rehab, I talked with the director and said I needed to go into the hospital the next day. I called my primary doctor, explained what was going on and that I needed to go into the hospital. He said everything would be worked out and he’d see me in the hospital the next day. I then called my husband and explained exactly what was going on and that he needed to pick me up and take me to the hospital. Just before I was released from the rehab they gave me a graduation, with a certificate showing that I completed rehab! I graduated one day early! My husband was so proud of me, then he rushed me to the hospital. I’ve been clean for almost 27 years on November 18th 2019. Over the past 27 years, I’ve been tempted to use, but I remember exactly what my husband told me before I went into the rehab. I love my husband and I can’t live without him! I stay clean one day at a time! If I can stay clean anyone can stay clean! You get as much out of the 12 step meetings as you put into the meetings! In the beginning, after I got out of the hospital, I was going to 3 meetings a day! I did that for the first year I was clean. I attended meetings all over the city I lived in. I went to Convention meetings, I got very involved with NA. If there wasn’t an NA meeting around, I would attend an AA meeting. I did everything I could to stay clean! Now that it’s been almost 27 years I don’t attend as many meetings as I use to, but I stay in contact with people who I got clean with! Living life on life’s terms is difficult, but it’s truly worth it! I have a great life with my husband, my family and friends! I wouldn’t have that if I had continued using drugs and alcohol! I have to give GOD all of the credit, because without him I never would’ve gotten clean! You truly need a power greater than yourself! If you don’t, you won’t stay clean, I know from experience!! Just take it one day at a time!!

I still find it amazing that even though I'm in recovery and have been for like 7 years that I can tell somebody who uses within seconds And I always could when I was using it's like you're drawn to each other

It's amazing the background peculiarities he's had to deal with, especially with a mom who is diagnosed with multiple personalities and the trauma of being consistently molested. Great thing he's living above those burdens now. Thanks to Detox to Rehab.

Neglect of the loving ones is one of the aftermath of addiction because the victim will never see anything good about them. Glory be to God for His intervention.

He starts out saying he had a good family raisied right, but the poor kid was abused sexually so not protected. Anyway he does persevere and that is a great story and the gratitude is real.

Anyone who has addicted with anything neglected his family because he didn't has time to spend with his family.

I believe family is key and are foundation for healthy living and upbringing... God deliberately set the solitary into families.

Your story is so pathetic. Many families suffering due to the shady things our family members find themselves in
