I went to Thailand in 1999. Happiest three weeks of my life. In USA I’m just a middle class working stiff. In Thailand i was rich. Everywhere i went, it wasn’t nothing but love. People were so sweet and nice. I had tailor made suits. Bought rubies and sapphires, went trekking in Chaing Mai, went snorkeling in Ko Pi Pi, went partying in Phuket. Had so much fun. Being in the land of Buddha was such a trip from the West. They called me Hollywood, and Song Writer and Super Model number 1. Very strong sensual and sexual vibe there. Hot and humid. When i was in Phuket i would get up every morning and run on the beach, then swim in the Andaman sea, then buy fresh fruits from a passing vendor, then get an hour and a half massage for 6 bucks, right there on the beach. My tuk tuk driver got me a huge bag of Thai stick to smoke. The street food was the best. Just look for the popular carts. I never felt so good as i did in Thailand.

Wish you all the best and you’ve got a new sub. If I can give you one tip it’ll be to stay curious and keep exploring different parts of the country. Don’t just get stuck in Pattaya like a lot of tourists do. Definitely get up to Chang Mai and get down to the islands (Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao, Phuket, Krabi, etc). You won’t regret it!

Bro, I used to live there and have been 20+ times as well. Thailand was part of the reason my old passport got filled so quickly. I also plan to retire there. Should our paths cross in the future, I'll buy you a drink.
Two small mistakes that were made being a traveler. Don’t leave the airport until CLOSE to checkin time in a strange city. Also, don’t drink the local water at first. Bottle water and SLOWLY mix the two over time to get use to local water, if you are to EVER drink local water at all. Stay safe and healthy!

A friend of mine went to Thailand. He took pictures of the street food vendors and what they sold. One vendor sold cooked prawns(which resembles giant shrimp tails). I wanted to go to Thailand for those prawns alone.
I’m so stoked to see you finding happiness in Thailand. I was just there for a month, my first time in Thailand, and I completely agree with you about it feeling like home. Everyone I met was incredibly nice and helpful, the food is amazing, and there are fascinating things to see wherever you go. I’m currently getting everything ready to move there as well.

Well done, young brotha. I left the US 4 days after receiving a big promotion at my job. Suddenly a low wage job became available in Korea and I had to leave in a few days. “It’s only for a year”, I thought. 2 decades, a lot of bumps and smiles later and I’m still chillin. Best move I ever made. (I left that new job after 5 months 😂) One bit of unsolicited advice, embrace the difficulties. They will come. Get into the language ASAP and don’t quit (trust me on this). Pick up a hobby. That would get you into the culture and the people the fastest. 💯

It’s nice to meet you! Looking forward to exploring Thailand with you.☮️❤️🇨🇦
I remember my first time out of the country as a black man. Just to not be looked at like a criminal or a thing to be feared was a freeing experience. I told my daughter once she turns 18 she can come with me or just come visit me but I am only state side because of her.

Well...let enough blacks go there and start destroying everything like here in the USA and then they will look at you like you get looked at here in the USA.
