In this video I share my favourite chocolate mud cake recipe - it's so good I make it every week!
You might wondering how I can possibly make it every week without getting tired of it? Well, it's so versatile that it never has to be the same.
The beauty of this recipe is that you can create new and exciting flavours with only a few simple tweaks - so it never gets boring! In this video we'll make the basic recipe and 2 other variations of it, in a cake and slab and cupcakes. Best of all it only uses 9 basic ingredients and will stay fresh for the whole week (if it lasts that long!).

They all look delicious! I love how you decorated them. It's almost planting time where I am and I'm going to try nasturtium for the flowers and leaves!

Thanks for your comment. I hope you have as much success as I do with the nasturtiums. I picked some flowers yesterday for sandwiches (they add a lovely peppery flavour) and there were so many beautiful shades. Yellow, orange, deep red and combinations of these. They're so bright and beautiful ☺️
Just curious. What does the vinegar do here? I don’t think I have ever seen it used in a cake.

Vinegar is often added to cakes to help with rising. It reacts with the baking soda creating little air bubbles and that light fluffy texture ☺️
Hello i would love to try the chocolate orange slab cake version...rougly what size is your pan please? And how long did you bake it for? I was thinking of cutting out rounds using a circle cutter and making them a bit fancy ☺️..thank you

Thanks for your comment. That's a great idea cutting rounds and decorating them fancy. Please share a pic with me 😊 My tin is 27cm x 17cm. It should take around 15-20 minutes in a pre-heated oven. Make sure you check a skewer comes out clean to be sure.
