Anthønyee Well, possibly, if people like you didn't discourage her, maybe she would've ended out better than she is now. I mean, do you realize what your actions are doing? The exact people who hated her for being trans when she was young could also possibly be in the exact same situation you're in right now. So, be careful, because sometimes the same actions that caused trouble to your or a friend of your's life, can be the exact same actions you're taking right now. Life comes full circle, and it's not always pretty, my friend.

rarest of pepes rarest of pepes oh my let's ignore all the grammar mistakes in this comment for the sake of actually responding to what you're saying lmao - plenty of studies have shown that gender does not necessarily correspond with your biological sex and it's not like they're choosing to be a female or male or anything, they just are. just like gay or straight people can't choose who they're attracted to, transgender people can't choose what gender they are

I am very sorry for your friend - this is really unfortunate / = The problem though is, that many people - just like she - do start transitioning at such a young age and never end up regretting it. What I think is important is, that she is happy now - especially considering how she attempted to jump out of the window, as in she was HIGHLY suicidal. The family treats this very carefully - in the video they say for now she hasnt decided on surgery yet and she'll only be blocking her puberty, as well as taking estrogen. She can always decide to stop these meds and then go through a typically normal male puberty, which will result to her having facial hair (if she has the genes for it), lower voice, et cetera. What I'm saying is - there are always some people who end up regretting transition, which is why there are specialists and procedurs and long theray sessions to make sure the clients really are sure about this - or as sure, as they can be. Medicine and Professionals are doing their best - but even they sometimes fail -and some people make mistakes. However, the bigger number of transitioning people ends up being very happy - and having their live saved. To me, it seems clear that she is very happy and content - and I pray it will stay this way. (As long as she doesn't have lower-body surgery though, I assume most changes - in case she reconsiders - should be reversible.) She appears very mature for such a young age though, so I think she knows what she is doing.

Thank you for speaking out about this. One of my very best friends was born at a time (1950’s) where she was forced to hide who she was and ultimately, it did lead to what your daughter felt and experienced. The main differences is that your daughter has the supports and she has her own voice, and she has the medical experts behind her. Thank goodness for you. 💯🌸Thank goodness for you being you and, not letting anyone else determine your future and your happiness. I lost my friend last year. She was denied surgery that she wanted in her 40s when she finally took a risk. After 65 miserable years that I can’t even imagine, and bring tears to my eyes, she found love and acceptance in a loving relationship, finally. She told me she knew that she was a girl at three years old. I can only wish she had a family like yours. 👏🏼☀️♥️Thank you so much for making this video. 🌱🌻🌟💜🩵

Two years ago, i made a comment about my sister transitioning into a male. At the age of 10 i didn't understand about how difficult this would be for me and my family. I didn't realise that it took years to transition. i am now 13 and my sibling is 12, its hard to understand what they are going through. And its painful to see them struggle with situations that "normal" people wouldn't have to think about like, which toilet they feel most comfortable using. i have been studying the science aspect behind transiting, i'm only doing it for them but it seems that they have got to that point where there just always moody. But i was exactly the same. Its so confusing sometimes, but everything is going great otherwise. Just know if you're struggling with gender issues you are amazing! Just think about all the people who love and support you and forget the ignorant ones who can't love you for you. ps. i can't actually believe i found my old account and this comment, it really brought light to my heart when all the comment again. :)

My son was born a girl. He has lived as a boy since he was 3. People say ‘it’s a phase’ or ‘I was a tomboy’. It’s NOT that, not at all. My son would be devastated if he lived as ‘Poppy’. People are quick to judge and say things like ‘you’re pushing something unnatural’. Ultimately, I want my child to be happy, so I’ll do everything in my power to make that happen, he has my unconditional support. That makes me a good mum in my books!

For everyone who says her liking "girly" things does not make her trans, please keep in mind she is very young, and isn't as skilled at expressing what she feels in her heart as a mature, fully functional adult would be. The society she is being raised in has taught her that that's all you need to be a girl, so that's all the explaining she thinks she needs to do. She felt so free to be able to enjoy "girly" things without being mocked by a hateful society. She knows what she wants and who she is, and my love goes out to this beautiful GIRL. I wish her all the best, and hope she enjoys many successes in her life.

I don't know if you know this, but 10 year olds are a lot smarter then you give them credit for. I knew I was bisexual at 10, so why can't she be transgender at 10? Would you have rather she suffered through constantly being labeled as male, despite that just not feeling like who she knows she is? This girl tried to jump out a window! She was miserable! If you'd rather let a little girl end her own life simply because she didn't like the way she was made then I have no words for you.

Anyone having issues with this should understand. This is a human who you will never meet. Whose city you will never see. And will have not a slightest impact on your life or anyone in the comment field. Writing a negative thing about this only exposes yourself as a bad human being or a insecure one. Have faith that other people can find happiness in ways you don't understand. And you are allowed to find happiness in the way you want to. Win, win in the end? ... Kids today and young adults don't understand. In most cases you will never become a influencer or a famous person. You will find 30-40 good friends in your life. You will spend most your days with someone you love and their children, and people around that area. You will learn that everyone is allowed their own life, and you don't need to feel anything regarding what they like or dislike. As you be to occupied with either.. work.. your close-proximity of friends, your husband or wife and children.

I feel sorry for transgenders who were murdered or who committed suicide because of the situation not having any support. I always think of Gwen Aroujo and the torment she endured. Some stupid fucks have been linking me biased blog posts suggesting how acceptance improves by 80 percent with transitioning. Hrm rough math time. 80 percent of 47 percent suicide is 9.4 percent... the national suicide is 10. So apparently these people are suggesting suicidal depression is completely removed, however the data suggests otherwise

These parents are insane in my eyes your child is a CHILD they don’t know what they are talking about children have imaginations. My god what has this world come too. You CANNOT be born in the “Wrong” body that is not possible you can however be born and brought up to be told that it’s okay to be something that you are simply not. I've heard lots of stories with "a girl goes into a ladies bathroom in a secluded place, and then a man sneaks in blocking her inside", I've heard some stories with "a trans person goes into a "wrong" bathroom and gets severely beaten there". But I have never heard one story about "a trans girl enters the ladies bathroom and then... WHAT"? I can't even imagine WHAT!

Brooklyn Greish. She's young and being put on the spot to describe very complicated emotions. We all have better a understanding of our feelings when we get older, and most people are nervous when talking about something very personal on camera. I do agree that liking pink doesn't make you a girl, but if you listen to her mom she says that Rebekah was distressed when being sorted with the boys and confronting the idea of growing up into a man. I'm sure her parents considered many things and talked with her about her feelings much more than we can see in a short video. Her parents are just trying to love and support her and let her grow up happy and healthy. That's the point of parenting. How many kids who were forced to "man up" had a happy childhood and healthy life?

For the person that said Rebekah wasn't mature enough to make decisions like being a 10 year old transgender at 5:00, their comment doesn't seem very 'mature' saying that Rebekah parents forced this decision upon. Tons of children tend to gain knowledge and maturity quicker than most grown individuals across the globe. When will the world see that children can be a whole lot more mature than what is known? Shoot there's even 7 year olds who can do more than most adults.

@ProfessorRomendev actually, indeed incorrect. Not only did you accidentally use the wrong pronouns, you also called a girl a boy when it clearly states female on her birth certificate. Its quite funny that you act like you know everything about this girl when in reality, the person who knows Rebekah the best is herself. You haven't even met her yet you think you have the right to judge her situation. Cant you just leave a poor innocent child alone? She is living her happiest life and the fact that you have nothing better to do than bully a child and purposefully hate on a 13 year old is sick. You will never know what its like for someone like her. Not only does she have to deal with the hardships of everyday life, but she also has to deal with bigots and morons like you.

Here's the thing. Can a childs suicidal depression be removed with material objects ? I know temper tantrums in children can, and if the child attempted suicide, I can assure you he didnt attempt to jump out of a window. That is called a cry for help. Secondly if you're pushing ideology that has 50 percent suicidality, then yes you're encouraging them into a life of depression and self harm. Remember 90 percent of trans self har.... well, her parents were perplexed because she was wanting to die, so they did what they could to help her.. It isn't child abuse.. If the parent was actually forcing their kid to be a trans, that would be a form of sexual and emotional abuse, but they clearly were not forcing her.. The child truly wanted this, and even wanted to end her life, so her loving parents did everything to help her.. As someone who had abuse as a child (and now has borderline personality disorder from it) and went to many mental health facilities as a child where I saw many other kids who had been abused, I can say that this is far from abuse. People who think this is abuse do not know what child abuse is. Again, only would this be abuse IF the parents LITERALLY forced it on her, or continuously made her feel like she was not good enough as a boy, and only she would be as a girl which this isn't the case.

There is a video of her speaking in front of 31 thousand of her very accepting church congregation, and in no way was she forced, purely how she talked about her journey. Also, I agree with you, I was abused, no way is this abuse. Even the CPS who was called on the Bruesoffs found no single trace of evidence of child abuse. People who declare Child Abuse, are purely in it for joy of being hateful to people.

Not hating, but a genuine question. "I felt that I was a girl because I liked the colour pink and girls' clothes". Why does that have to make someone transgender? You can be a boy that likes pink and skirts. Doesn't the concept of "if you like blue and cars, you're a boy" support gender roles (which are a bad thing)? I sincerely don't understand.

  • @imaginareality

I had the same thought as you did while hearing that sentence. But she is just a girl and it's probably easiest to "prove" her gender by talking about her preferences ( things you can see) rather than her feelings. Her mother talks about how Rebekah was uncomfortable when being grouped with the boys and that she was clearly depressed. Rebekah wasn't just a boy interested in traditionally feminine things, she was dysphoric about being perceived as a boy and part of that was her wanting to express in a more feminine way. From my own experience with gender I can say that there is a difference between just not conforming to gender roles (being a boy who likes dresses and the colour pink) while still being totally fine with your assigned gender and not identifying with your assigned gender regardless of wether or not you confrom to some or most of the stereotypes of that gender. If that makes any sense.

I am with you, where traditionally 'feminine' things do not just have to be for females, but I think it is a hard question to answer, especially for a ten year old. Almost anyone, including myself, would have a very difficult time answering the question "How do you know that you are a girl/boy/etc?" It would take a lot of thought to answer. The question was sprung on her, too. She also may be a more feminine female.

+Агнес Ольховская half of the people in favour off this don't even realise they butcher their own arguments with their own arguments. They want everything from clothes all the way to toys to be gender neutral. Boys can play with whatever they want, girls can wear whatever they like, they can have whatever hair they want etc. But the minute a child starts to prefer one variation over the other (a boy prefers dolls and pink etc) the "We always knew he/she was a transgender from a very young age" rhetoric comes out or at the very least, suspicion is aroused in regards to the "identity" of the child. If everything should be gender neutral, then fail to see how the early signs of transgender-ism within can really come to be. The "Kids raised without gender" on VICE shows this, with the boys being raised gender neutral as the "parents" don't want to force them to live as the gender they were "assigned", they can make their own minds up. Usual garbage. They have girly hair, and wear dresses and what not, so as a result, the "parents" haven't ruled out referring to them as girls now as everyone presumes they are. How can they be more girly? Because they prefer certain things, but by the idiot logic, these things are all supposed to be "gender neutral" so the whole thing falls flat. Laughable really.

Lissa Da Panda No it can't. There is nothing science can do about the fact that *he* has a Y chromosome in every single cell in *his* body. Which is the real bone of contention here. Just like science can do nothing about the fact that human beings don't have wings and hollow bones. Aeroplanes fly, people just tag along for the ride. If you are happy to state that transgenders are only transgender because of the hormone therapy, then that is a valid comparison.
